Looks impressive.

I especially like the look of the bit where you go ino God mode and can place things down (bridges etc). Although they said it was a bit shallow in this game, I think a Sim City VR could actually be really amazing.

That 9.4 ign review felt pretty accurate.

I got to play my about 45minutes earlier. It feels incredibly polished and is easily the best looking fps RPG I've ever played, VR or not.

The combat is visceral and the movement feels great. It's very intuitive too.

This is where VR is going, lots of super polished games exclusive to VR are on the way.

Being able to pluck birds out of the air in god form gives me Black and White vibes for whatever reason.

And those little gnome guys are charming as all heck. Looks real promising.

Hell, I read this as Asura's Wrath and got super excited

Man I read it right but I THOUGHT about Asura’s Wrath and then I started thinking about a spiritual sequel to that as a super anime styled take on Norse mythology and now I’m fuckin bummed that’s not what this is

This is the first game I've had major envy about not being able to play in a long time. I love PSVR, but it needs more games made for VR. This looks great.

This cannot be understated. It's impossible to judge a VR game by watching a video, in fact that ign review makes the game a janky mess but mostly because it's really difficult to film VR games without seizure inducing head shake and wobbly arm movements. The game doesn't look like that at all when you're in VR but it's exasperated 10x when watching a flat video of someone playing it.

I really don't understand why someone hasn't reinvented the God game genre for VR, it sounds from the ign review that was a favorite part of the game yet its part of the game very limited. I can't help but think that Populous or black and white would be awesome in VR

Yep. I've had several people demo my VR and state beforehand that they thought VR looks wonky in videos(I agree), only be wowed trying it.

I fucking hate Skyrim, after being ruined by oblivion (one of few games I traded in last Gen) I avoided Skyrim like the black plauge.
I had some extra steam credit though and wanted to play a more involved title beyond the myriad of VR mini games and figured, fuck it I'll try Skyrim VR even if for fooling around and tech demo for VR.
It's a totally different game in VR. I'm still not a fan of the mechanics (auto enemy scaling is stupid in RPGs) but simply sitting at a table in a NPCs house, watching the smoke drift from their braziers, hearing the crackle of the fire watching the characters talk is a pretty amazing experience that someone who hasn't tried VR before, and for someone who has played the game most would underestimate how different the experience is in VR

Played for a couple of hours and it's really good and makes you feel like you are inside a God of War game.

I am playing on the hardest difficulty with all of the HUD turned off and have lost 3 times to one of the first big enemies. I will probably turn down the difficulty till I get more experience with the combat.

The only bad thing so far is the loading times. I installed on a regular hard drive and loading times were around 30-40 seconds, moving it to an SSD cut them down to 10-20, so better, but still a bit long. The game is 125G so it's a very large install.

The only game that makes me regret having a rift instead of a PSVR because i'm a super fan of the franchise.

Once you put on the headset, that's the last thing you're thinking about. It truly feels next level.

Racing and flight sim stuff is the only thing I fell is even close to immersive.

Yeah, I'd say that's a 100% impossibility. At this point it can't flop and it can't ever get a port. And if we imagine it ever did, it would always be the worst way to play.

Loads of VR only games have ended up getting none VR versions later on. I dont see why it cant get a port anyway, its just a Skyrim style game.

AI isn't that sophisticated yet in any game. However you do have genuine interactions with characters that feel personal, like so:

Oculus would never in a million years port a game for non-VR. Never happening, and I don't throw the word never around lightly.

Huh? It doesn't "feel" like a regular game at all. You're literally inside the game. That in itself is revelatory and the biggest jump I've experienced in gaming. It's incredibly immersive in practice.

Yeah, developer Zansaru (the ones that remastered Sly and made Thiefs in time) and the publisher is Oculus. Depending on who owns the IP, a secuel could be made for multiplatform or if Oculus so desires, they could reach an agreement like Sony has done with some second parties like Quantic Dream.

Exclusive to specific VR headsets is asinine. Looks like I will be skipping this as I won't be going out of my way to spend hundreds for another VR headset.

Have you tried some good shooters? there is no much lacking in terms of interaction in that genre either, only locomotion really. Robo Recall is my favorite one yet. Only flaw is it's lenght but it's very arcade like so you are meant to replay it. In the MP department there is the very harcore sim like shooter Onward ofcourse, reloading and using scopes is a whole new kind of fun thing to master in VR.

1 step closer to VR being worth it but still waiting. These games should be the norm.
Stormland is the next AAA title for VR and comes out next month. Half Life VR will be revealed very soon as well which has potential to be a killer app in the same way BOTW was for Switch. Over the next 2 months you also have Boneworks which has potential to be revolutionary. In January you have a 15 hour Walking Dead game which looks pretty good. Medal of Honor VR is a thing for 2020 which is another full AAA. You also have plenty of unannounced games in the works like 2 other Valve games, an Assassin's Creed or Splinter Cell game, and a Wasteland game - all of which are intended to be AAA exclusives for VR.

Imagine a GoPro. Same concept. Humans have lots of micromovement that you never notice unless a camera picks it up. In this case it's just a virtual camera.

So yes, in VR everything is smooth, always. You might find Cloud's Buster Sword is shaky when using VR due to the lack of weight on such a huge tracked object, but in general it doesn't tend to bother people - plus as a developer you can smooth out these things in games using artificial drag.

No, and to be honest I don't really understand why it's so common but it really hurts 2d representation of VR games when the gameplay looks like a jerky mess. It's not like that when playing at all. Perhaps it's your brain that tunes it out when in VR, perhaps it's actually how you move in real life and when transposed in game it comes off like a bad cerebral palsy dream but when playing that wacky behavior doesn't exist.
It's one of the things that makes VR REALLY hard to explain or demo, it really matters to play it in 3 dimensions

As others have said, VR just doesn't translate. The shakiness is exacerbated big time in videos.

Anyway, there are alot of meaty games already in VR, and more coming.
I'm playing Borderlands 2 now with a gun controller and its amazing. Actually leaning around corners, blind firing? It just adds a unexpected dynamic that I never thought possible with the series, not to mention life sized scale and depth perception(game charger).
