Dreams will launch for PlayStation 4 on February 14, 2020 for $39.99, publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Media Molecule announced.

The game / creation tool, which allows users to make games, music, movies, art, and more to share with the online community, first launched in Early Access on April 16.

As an "animator" , I feel let down that they barely have done anything for animations.

The very first Community Creations livestream they highlighted my animations and they talked about how they were going to implement a feature to make the creation of animations easier.
Nothing ever happened.

Also, afaik, there are very little indepth tutorials for doing animations and animators are hard to come by as is.

Not even to a crow?!? :p

I'm excited for Dreams. Lots of potential for fun and creative expression.

It's a steep learning curve though, man. You can do amazing things but if you decided to do everything yourself and don't draw on what the community have given you, you'll end up with teeth marks in your controller.

The biggest disappointment for me, and I know I'm not alone in saying this, is that fact MM didn't do as promised and add regular updates to EA.

Yeah, agreed. My complaint is part of that, but since I focus solely on (character) animations, I can't comment on all the other aspects.

It has been a bit of a mess, and whilst I like winding up the people who try to wind me up, I've always discussed the problems on Twitter, Facebook and my Discord channel. The beta was a mess, the EA was a mess and now the EA has been disappointing because it had no updates. BUT, the creations are FANTASTIC! I'm still hyped to hell.

They should just call it Nintendo Game Remake Simulator.

You don't watch many videos do you ...

Hoo boy I'll be glad for a single Dreams OT to replace the multiple threads on its development.

Shipping a game is hard, so good on the team for (more or less) getting there.

Sorry if it disappoints you, but it's not a reference to anything :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Oh bummer, lol. William James (philosopher, father of psychology) has a great quote:

“If you wish to upset the law that all crows are black, you mustn't seek to show that no crows are; it is enough if you prove one single crow to be white.”

An example would be, in order to upset the dogma that everything is material and there is nothing beyond that, you don't need to show that every piece of "spiritual" evidence is true; you just have to show that one is.

I've always loved that quote, because it's so apt. Though a bit off-topic, I admit. I sported a white crow avatar for a time.

Never mind, return to your previously scheduled dreaming.

i was more interested in hearing what the next major update includes then seeing snippets of content ive already seen highlighted in GribbleGrunger GribbleGrunger .

is one not planned for the actual release of the game? is the official release just...reopening early access and a story mode?

one of my bigger issues with the game, though i havent played yet. as an animator the tools looked appalling to use

Yes. I'm salty that I can't wait to see the homages to classic games that lots of people are going to make.....
A Gods Remastered made in Dreams can only be better than the Gods Remastered.
I'm sure there a few other games in the same situation.

Well, you know, the controls are pretty straightforward and intuitive, but I definitely wouldn't recommend using the Moves for character animations, at least.
Unless you're fine with simple basic animations.

But I dunno what it is. Maybe it's a lack of explanation on what contributes to thermo usage for animations, because it seems so random.
I don't fully understand the exact benefits of FK vs IK, but it seems to not work as good as it ought to.
It feels like the more minor adjustments you make for finetuning/refining animations, the higher the chance of bugs popping up, which I think has something to do with everything being "recorded" (memory usage).

And even if all this is due to a lack of understanding (I was an absolute noob when I boughy EA), it would highlight the problem of not having proper indepth tutorials.

It's too bad media molecule's annoying marketing tactics and hyperbole have already made everyone want to ignore this... engine game or whatever it is.

At least Sony exclusive or partial exclusives still have you, trolling and generalising constantly against them?

It is telling that we have seen kind of miracles graphics, modelling, and logic wise, but animation is still really really janky.

Oh wow, it's only gonna be $40! They must see some rough waters ahead with all these huge last minute PS4 releases in the same window of time and knew they couldn't do $60.

I'm kinda glad I waited on it now because I'd prefer physical.
