Favorite "struggle" meals?

Today I made one of my favorite "struggle" meals. I put sturggle in quotes just because I love it even when I'm not struggling. Just wanted to ask gaf what your favorite ones are?

Today I made a struggle pizza with tortillas instead of a crust. Still tastes delicious though.

Mixed frozen vegetables and a can of baked beans microwaved in a bowl. The secret to great struggle meals is to prep before the struggle hits and have a lot of herbs and spices.

Is 'That Pure Potato'
Whatever dried ramen noodles you prefer (boil them first, of course) with a fried egg, runny, plopped into it. I think many will be surprised with how good it is.

Oh I forgot, a "pizza sandwich". The cheapest bread, cheese, and italian red sauce you can buy. You basically make it like a grilled cheese sandwich with the sauce and cheese inside. If garlic powder is in the budget than that too.

I'm in my 40s and I still eat cheap instant noodles. Fast and filling. I eat two packs at a time. I drain out the soupy water though and put on some Chinese brown sauce.

Or I make one pack, drain the water (no soup base), then I heat up a can of Chunky soup that is thick like the beef flavours and pour it on top of the noodles.

Or I heat up a can of Chunky soup (thick) and pour it on top of potato chips.

A boring meat sandwich is awesome if you stuff it with regular or salt and vinegar chips.

I have never heard of making soup and potato chips. I'll have to try that. What kind of soup is best?

Please tell me you didn’t use ketchup for sauce.

As for the question probably just pasta with marinara sauce.
You can buy 1 lb boxes of pasta for less than a dollar and halfway decent sauce for less then 2.
When I was a poor and struggling I’d go for a whole week eating pasta and sauce for less then $15.
I’d buy like 4-5 boxes of pasta for like $5 and 4-5 bottles of sauce for around $10 usually less, if I had a extra couple of extra bucks I’d get some bargain cheese to grate.

not tag worthy
Rice, and baked beans with some spicy sauce

cous cous and sardines

chick peas
also use eggs in things as they are cheap ish

EverydayBeast

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
I never had anything that isn't a struggle meal, I think food eaters fall into the levels of food (ramen, lobster etc.) and since the 50s no question the food everyone eats is Fast Food and I think a struggle meal in America is sill fine dining in Africa.

I used hot taco sauce to give it a kick. Yum!

I used to just put honey on bread, for 2 meals a day. Each meal was 3 slices of bread. 3rd meal would be something like white rice with HP sauce.

A can of Tuna wih some rice or toasted bread.
it's quite cheap, a can of Tuna is 80c and a loaf of white bread is around 90c.
i usually stir fry the tuna with onion and garlic, 5 minutes and it's done!

Seriously some of you guys are going to get scurvy lol. You give an army all bread they’re not beating anyone. Remember what Bill Burr said, for me to live, something must die everyday.

A soup that has some thickness and sauciness to it..... like some of those Chunky soup ones. Or heat up some chili and pour it right on a half bowl of chips.

When you do it, don't mix the chips and soup. Just let the soup naturally settle on top. Most chips will get soft, but if you leave some exposed or have a thick layer of chips, you'll still get some crunch to it.

Don't use a soup that is watery, or else it will turn to mush fast.

Some of you guys should be careful with those soups, you’ll get kidney stones with the amount of salt in them. My struggle meal upgraded to chicken wings thrown in the oven, or fish.

porridge is the king of struggle. Healthy, can be savoury or sweet. If you get some extra cash throw peanut butter or chocolate or fruit in it.

Back in college days when i legit ate struggle meals, it was pasta (4 meals per box @ $0.25 each) and a can of pure tomato sauce ($0.25 each at the time) I did this 2-3 times a day and never got tired of it.

Now i can have anything i want but am lazy and make pork ramen with a dash of sesame oil.
Seriously, to all you ramen fans, a drop of sesame oil turns the cheapest ramen into luxury.

When I was young we were so poor, we would take 3 slices of bread.
The 3rd slice was mixed into a paste with ketchup and that was the filling.

One time I was invited to a baseball game.
I left the house with 2 raw hotdogs in aluminum foil.
By the 6th inning, I took it out my pocket and told my friend loudly and in excitement...
"Wow this hot dog is cooked now!' because it was like 90 degrees.
The people around me heard it and were looking at me in utter confusion.

Sometimes, our grandna would come over and see that we had no food.
So she would just take anything and everything from cabinets, freezer, anything.
All of that went into a pot and she boiled it for several hours.
We used to call it pig slop. Some of the stuff in it would be spoiled food. Disgusting.

We also used to eat this soup, we called it tomato soup, but it was just ketchup, salt, pepper and water.

Get a can of SPAM, slice it thin, fry it in a pan. Make Velveeta shells 'n cheese, mix together, enjoy. Still one of the best struggle meals of all time, IMO.
