They are not to my personal liking either but you would be very naive if you can't see the benefit for Sony if they were able to acquire such a studio let alone the Destiny IP. Especially since Sony had said a couple of times recently that for then next gen they want to focus even more in multiplayer games and games as a service.

As for the poor souls mentioning Japanese companies what makes you guys think that Sony give's a rat's ass about Japanese companies?It has been very obvious this gen that their eyes are set firmly in the West.

In fact it wouldn't surprise me if next gen they close down SCEJ.

Bungie is too big and not competent enough. People thought it was Activision pressure, but they have been free from Activision for a while and they still take forever to patch basic things and to create new content, and this "new" content is often 80% reskins and recycled stuff. Destiny now is basically an excuse for the Eververse store.
Sony already has Japan Studio for sucking money and producing very little, they don't need another one.

I'm sure they would if they could, but From is not independent, its owned by Kadokawa since 2014. But they have freedom to work with whatever publishers they want, since Kadokawa doesn't publish their games (but there seems to exist a preference for Bandai Namco, that is a shareholder for Kadokawa).

they could buy THQ Nordic and have auto access to dozens/hundreds of IP's (I've lost count of how many IP's THQN have under their belt now)
but i would love for them to get Bandai Namco or Sq Enix
