Trying to come up with a title, but this is all I could do. It reminds me of old Bioware games like Dragon Age and the Mass Effect trilogy. Don't expect an amazing OT. Just wanted to create a thread to talk about it.

I’m enjoying the game, it’s meaty. Had to put it on hold though for Borderlands 3

I’ll keep it for when there’s a month with no games

Really bad idea to release this the same week as Borderlands 3. I'll likely pick it up on sale for $20 in a month or two.

I get it today. I heard this game actually has choice that matters. Also, how do you get screens go by each other? I don't like how much scroll there is to see the images.

Gave it a try yesterday, I can tell that it's not AAA, but there is nothing wrong with that.

I can tell that it's definitely trying to be original, and by that I mean not just another action rpg.

Only complaint I have so far is the character creation was lacking.

I've been playing it for the last 3 days and loving every minute. My favorite RPG this year; and in a while. What lacks on high budget polish it's balanced with a great sense of immersion. Game is beautiful don't get me wrong. I love the characters, the quests and the whole story behind it.

I hear weapons don't show up on your character. That seems odd. At least changing other armor does from what I've seen.

Played for a couple hours. Seriously impressed. Sure there is some low res textures here and there, and sometimes animations can be janky, but it still looks great. Most of all the framerate is stable. Playing in 4k(1080p TV but with supersampling on). Not a hitch so far. I can't believe this game is 11 gigabytes in size!

Of course I haven't left for the island yet. Could get worse I suppose.

Clever, at least on the PC front.

And when are people going to realize that Borderlands isn't as universally popular as they think it is.

I don't think the majority of people who are into Borderlands 3 would be getting some game they never heard of because of the huge lack of marketing. At least on consoles.

30 hours into the game and for the most part, im enjoying it a lot. Combat/gameplay is clunky/janky and isn't as fluid or responsive as I would like but otherwise, im into the story and characters, loving the world, atmosphere and immersion. Good voice acting and music. Visuals are great. Love the talent and attribute trees with the way you upgrade, carry/use weapons/armor, etc. It's all great in my opinion and very well done because it adds strategy to the game and how you want to play the game. Other than the combat/gameplay complaint, not enough enemy types and all the main interiors are exactly the same format. Quests though are excellent thus far. I have completed around 10 overall between main/side/missions.

Overall, the game is looking like an 8.0/10 as of right now but we'll see if it ends up that way. Oh, one last complaint. Wish there was a mini-map because im constantly pausing the game to get to the region map. Mini-map >>>>> compass. Always.

I’m glad this game saves a lot. I got stuck in a tiny room. My companion and a npc we’re stuck face to face blocking the door. No matter what I did or where I moved. I recommend saving a lot. Other than that I’m loving the game.

Having a real good time with this. Exploration, writing, and voice acting Is all great. The crafting/customization is simple and does its job. The music is fantastic. There is the usual Euro jank and combat can be a real hit or miss sometimes (invest in dodge rolling ASAP).

I’m specializing in guns, and they do have a wonderful crack sound to their shots. The trap system is also cool. Recently picked up this shadow mist power so I’m slowly gradually moving towards mage stuff.

The sidequests have a bit more depth than you’d expect and there’s been a few surprises, but they’re no way comparable to Witcher 3. Much closer to longer versions of KOTOR or Mass Effect 1 sides.

I need a guide for the location of those giant tree like beasts. They’re basically optional bosses spread around the land. I was able to cheese the shit out of one Souls style with my pistol. Took 50+ rounds but I got him.

The game (rather gracefully) handles the concept of colonisation and allows the player to decide for themselves if what occurs in the game world is a good or bad thing, and even lets you point the story in either direction based on your own choices and interactions. As a lot of quests etc are optional, you are often asked to make moral decisions on somewhat grey areas, or decisions which always carry some negative and positive consequences with them.

It's weird as the narrative of the game I would say nudges you slightly in the direction that the "woke" would agree with, but that it's not a binary "this is good" and "this is bad" set of decisions, and doesn't strictly adhere to their group-think by allowing the player some moral free-will, really rustles their jimmies.

They really do just want games that simply exist to reinforce their narrow-minded view on anything political.

TLDR; because it's a good game

Don't know how far you are but I agree with you that everything isn't just black / white in GreedFall. But as you progress you'll notice that even the natives do much worse to each other than any of the "colonists" do to them. A particular side quest I did showed that to me.

I love the game and I am enjoying it so much.

Alright so far Ive wasted the Swamp and Plains guardians

Currently 167 rounds for my pistol ☺️

Ammo isn’t an issue once you can craft your own (Need Science at 2 plus a bunch of crude iron ore and hoof fungus which are both extremely easy to find).

Seriously though this game does colonization politics as best they can be for someone to not go nuclear in this day in age.

It is simply a fantastic experience if you love action RPGs and ESPECIALLY if you love old BioWare.

So I've played through 15 hours of it, and I must say, it's a good game. Not the best rpg I've played and the lack of a AAA budget is pretty obvious from the character animations to the simplified rpg systems. But as an action rpg developed by a AA studio, Greedfall accomplishes what it sets out to do and provides a nice alternative to titles from Bioware or CDProjektRed.

I've still only gotten through the first half of the campaign so I don't plan to share my thoughts on the game until I've finished it.

I got the platinum last Sunday. I have a soft spot for Spiders. Especially because I liked Technomancer so much. I really enjoyed GreeFall a lot and I thought it was a great game. It has it's problems but I can tell you that it has a lot less problems than a lot of the AAA shit being forced up our anuses, down our throats and up our noses and even shoved in our ears. I really thought it was a great experience from start to finish. All though I never want to hear "Things are about to get dicey" ever again.

Looking forward to Spiders next game.

Well, finally finished it. And I have to say, a very good RPG from Spiders, but falls short of Bioware's and CD Projekt Red's best efforts. Despite that, I enjoyed every minute playing Greedfall and unlike say Dragon Age: Inquisition.

If I'm going to get into detail about my likes and dislikes:

LIKE
- Combat is fun. Went with the Technician tree and had a blast using guns and bombs to wreck fools.
- Companions are an interesting bunch and I liked the fact they each had a sidequest dedicated to them. My favorite being Kurt's.
- Smart decision by the developers to divide the island into small zones. Makes exploration much easier.
- I like that the game design allows you multiple solutions to resolve quests. I put points in Charisma which allowed me to sweet talk my way out of some hairy situations. It also made the most sense storywise, as De Sardet is supposed to be a diplomat.
- The world Spiders has created is interesting and original. It borrows heavily from colonial stories such as The Last of the Mohicans and Assassin's Creed 3. A good change from aping JRR Tolkien again.

DISLIKE
- The story feels... half baked I should say? It's not bad, but I think the game needed maybe 30 more hours of content to fully flesh out storylines and other plot threads. Even your companions don't even get much development after their companion quest is done. I think the best example I can come up with regarding this is the ending. The game just ends like that after you kill the final boss, and we're treated to a slideshow of the outcomes of your companions and the island's faction. I would have liked an epilogue much like in The Witcher 3 to see how my choices affected the land.
- This is obviously not a AAA budgeted game, and it shows. Lip synching for the characters isn't perfect and during conversations characters would be looking at another character and not the one who is speaking. Hopefully in their next title Spiders will have a bigger budget to solve issues like this.
- Why can't I control my companions in combat? This was a major misstep on Spider's part as I would have preferred this be a full on tactical party based mechanic. It would have made fights in the game more interesting.
- Constantin as the game's main antagonist is disappointing. Going back to my complaint above about the story feeling half baked, we don't get much of Constantin's backstory other than he's the son of the Prince of the Merchant Congregation and he and De Sardet have a close familial bond as cousins. It would have been nice to see the two of them interact more, but alas you don't get much opportunity to talk with him. It would have built up the stakes emotionally when you're forced to fight him, and the fact that you have to kill him to get the good ending should have been devastating.
- I wish the natives of Teer Fradee didn't fall into the stereotype of being Magical Natives in touch with nature. It makes most of them seem dull as characters and they could have stood to have a bunch of outright bastards among them. The closest would be Ulan, one of the clan chiefs you can elect High King. But he's more of a opportunist rather than a outright villain. Also, I wished their god had more character than just being a benevolent nature spirit. It would have added complexity to the decision on whether you should side with the natives against the other factions.

So there it is. I still enjoyed the game and am happy with the time I spent on it. But if Spiders makes a sequel I hope they address all the criticisms I've stated. It's a solid 7/10 from me.

I need to go back to this. I liked the few days I put into it, but I think what made me put it down for other stuff was the dialogue checks were very easy, and combat was made trivial with a good gun and ammo crafting. At some point I was walking around with 400 ammo and a rifle. No fucks were given.

I will say this: I want more games with awesome looking coats. The armor in this game looks amazing.
 
I've played this for just over five hours on PC (Steam). Finding it very enjoyable until this afternoon. About 30 minutes in, my game crashed and left me with no option but to hard reset. I reloaded it and the game crashed again, pretty much immediately. Hard reset. Tried again, crashed immediately. Again. I've uninstalled and I'm currently reinstalling.

Anyone experienced this? I7 8700, 16GB 3200mhz RAM, and a 1080ti.
