Appreciate it, and in case you're patronizing me cause you know GAF, :shakesfist.gif:

Not at all :messenger_tears_of_joy: But you really debunked some conflicting theories in my mind the more I read your insight. If I was trying to be funny I'll make it pretty obvious, but I like to keep it serious sometimes like now. You seem to be working in the tech industry or just engaged enough enthusiastically, so I'm always eager to learn a thing or two from more knowledgeable people here. I've learned a lot from many here, honestly, and enjoying the stay so far. Warm regards, sir🙌

Can you imagine them spending $4 instead of the $.99? I can use my ps5 to cool my mountain dew while playing COD.

From the sounds of it, the way he said why they know, it sounds like it might be pretty unconventional. I've mentioned the ThermoSiphon elsewhere, but a small version of that would be wild.

If they used a ThermoSiphon type cooling system that would be amazing! No pump needed so a lot less to break!

I will expect 16-18.5 teraflops from PS5 BEAST.

They dont need that to crush their enemies, but savage man Cerny wont feel the pathetic feeling of pity, so he loads PS5 with the BEAST technology to crush "competitors" under the firm heel of Japanese samurai spirit.

Rumours say that Phil Peniser is already having a mental breakdown because he knows that when PS5 will be reavealed, MS stock will plummet into -5000 % and Sony will buy MS, just to trash them into oblivion.

It does make sense. They're not abandoning their current console like their rivals do the year of next gen launch, so there's no need to spill all the details on PS5 just because fans are getting jittery or because MS has this bizarre habit of revealing a new product way in advance despite having several products on the market.
Wasn't it Microsoft that said they weren't abandoning xbone for at least 2 years that all first party games would be on both

I think if those wild numbers of 4K@90fps doable on release, with massive AI unseen before, destructive environment, high fidelity graphics, then it's probably safe to say that next gen consoles are near 2080Ti level through optimization. Not to mention the 8K game that MS might show off, as hinted by OsirisBlack OsirisBlack . At this point, 8K is very doable by upscaling tricks like checkerboarding by Sony and DLSS in the dark side.

I agree...I think at even close to 12 TF and the new processors especially, they should be able to do 8k upscaling pretty darn well. MAYBE even at 60fps, at least for a good portion of titles? We'll see. Depends on what exactly the performance hit is for RT and some other things. But I think there's no reason it can't be how 4k upscaling is today at least.

As far as MS announcing that their titles will support Xb1X for the first two years- sure...it COULD be a negative that holds the platform back, but I doubt MS would implement things that way. I think it will be more how things are now between the PS4 and PS4 PRO. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if Sony does something similar and encourages 3rd parties to do this as well. Have a patch/package that makes a current gen game 'upgraded' to next gen. At least for some titles this should be doable. But I dunno in practice if it will make business sense for developers, at least 3rd party devs. We shall see!

I remember Ryan from IGN putting up a super excited twitter post but refusing to say what it was about... the official IGN account also chimed in and said they knew what it was about.

Not sure if further clarification was ever given but I was wondering if it was some sort of console reveal exclusivity from either camp.

He did later post up a bunch of stuff about the new Doom but don't remember ever reading if that was what he was so excited about or not.

You're right, I thought it already was at $249.
I honestly think they should skip over that one. Psychologically I think that $199 will offer a MUCH bigger incentive to buy at this point in the gen. That way whether PS5 is $399 or $499 (I'm 70% sure it will be $499) it will be a BIG leap to next gen and it will give a nice boost to PS4 sales before PS5 hits. A last surge to build up that install base and with BC it's all the more people that can convert to PS5 later in the gen when it's price comes down. I think they should announce this whenever they detail PS5 and give price

Smartest scenario for Sony would be a June conference a week or two after E3 when MS details things

They go over power, show some games, show some new features, and finally announce the price at $499 before saying how they will not abandon PS4 and that it will now be easier to get than ever at $199 and that the Pro will be going to $299

Whoa, they said that? Those bastards!!! Cancel third article!!
I guess so. Was about smartphone games should beat next gen consoles (current gen now). I can't say if Sony still need them for doing that. Game Informer should be a nice place for doing as well. I get the Playstation Aniversary cover and I find amazing.

Stories like this don't happen. You get to see crazy footage behind closed doors, but they don't let you film it. And when it happens, for every major publisher there is always a PR person there. The day drinking part doesn't happen. A lot of devs smoke, but they keep their drinking away from the workplace. To say that "every dev I ever met day drinks" is so far from reality that it's very likely just made up. Straight out of the playing book, mix a believable story (PBR, volumetric clouds, ... all current gen technologies that are widely adopted) with some crazy ideas and give it a personal touch by bonding with a dev. All while still pretending that you want to protect your source. The source, that supposedly is the graphics lead of said game. That's very specific. And OsirisBlack's background becomes more and more strange. He claims to be an ex big guy at Gamestop that was responsible for loads of stores and has sources from back then. He isn't there anymore (and I suppose it would be easy enough to track down a person with that background) but he still has full access to Gamestop's database and knows pricing of loads of games and parts (including Hellblade 2 for PS5). He is also flying around to three developers on a biweekly basis to ask them about specs and watch their work, while not actually working as a journalist but trying to get a story published by other outlets. The whole story is a huge mess and so flawed that I would really be surprised if anything he tells us turns out to be true. Personally, I think it's all made up. Every little bit.

Oh and a next gen game running at 4K/90 with a finished trailer eight months before launch? That doesn't happen. Ever.
He never said Hellblade 2 was listed for PS5.

It will come on just another day. Out of the blue. People will be tired of waiting everyday expecting the announcement of the meeting. When no one is holding their breaths, it will be announced. Until then live. love. laugh.

Gamestop is a sinking ship IMO. Look at their financials for 2018 and 2019.

Wouldn’t be surprised if it files for Bankruptcy in a couple of years (same as Toys R Us).

I would not like that PS5 if it were horizontal, but vertically with the PS symbol like that would be sweet and they should put the USBs on the side to let me place it like that
That thing looks like two stacked PS4 that played a leading role in SAW and was cut like a cake from a maniac.

But I think we can get used to the V of the PS5. PSV.

So there was no leak/news about the game yesterday? :messenger_hushed:

I'm beginning to think this whole click of insiders just likes to play games on the pheasants. Throw us a bone man, you won't have to read our wild fantasies then.

I wasn't a fan of the 'V' shape when the dev kits leaked, but it has definitely grown on me...if they do decide to stick with a 'V' design it will be interesting to see how the console ends up looking. Hopefully it can still go vertical as well since I know a lot of people use their system vertically.
