The Last of Us 2 and Iron Man VR Delayed

Could this be because the next trend in lockdown fashion is going to be bans of non essential sales at retail stores?

It's horrible to make note of it, but this delay hurts Sony more than Microsoft. It allows XBox 1st party to catch up.
Wasteland 3 has already been delayed.

Well it got me thinking what the fuck are we going to play. If this is going to be common ppractice...

I know delays are becoming commonplace right now... but I hope Sony isnt deciding to do this because HZD2, Spiderman 2, etc arent ready for next gen launch and they're trying to hold some things back for the ps5 to make it more appealing.

Can't afford new games at the moment but it still sucks (later release date = later date for the first sale/price drop)
At this point just wait and release it alongside the Ps5. This also gives them some months to work on some enhancements they can add to the Ps5 version day 1.

Nothing to do with download speeds.

Distribution and manufacturing are fucked right now, it doesn't take a genius to work out why. The games that released physically in the last month would have been relatively unaffected due to the fact that discs are printed shortly after the game goes gold.

I don't think the divide would be as big as you think in the current circumstances. People should be staying at home and limiting deliveries to reduce risk of exposure. Buying games digital is the right thing to do at the moment.

What about all those people with physical preorders and no way to go and cancel them now? Or the people with shitty internet? There are too many variables, far easier to just delay it and everyone is annoyed the same.

Oh come on! Fuck this, if the store's open, don't limit what can be sold because of this shit.

The game probably cost a ton of money to make and with unemployment skyrocketing people are being cautious with their money. It may make sense to wait things out for a few months and release when things start to rebound.
The thing is it's probably only going to get worse. I think we're merely at the beginning of the economic crash, more companies will shut down in the upcoming months and more people will lose their jobs and getting new games and consoles will be the least of their problems.

Think about it, suddenly all of Naughty Dog employees have to work from home. I can't believe they can be as effective finishing the game all separated like that compared to being in the studio.

Exactly. Phil said as much about XsX/Xbox games in the interview posted yesterday. Why would it be any different for ND, especially putting the final finishing touches, testing and bug squashing before release.

it turns out naughty dawg ain't so nawty. millions of people want to play the game, more now than ever. square, capcom and bethesa doing us right. n dawg doing us dirty.

I think people are going to have less money in a few months time to be honest. Would have sold shedloads with everyone at home I'm sure.

Their manufacturing, shipping and logistics were well before things are progressing into the shit like it is now, especially when TLoU2 was not due out until the end of May. Alyx is also digital only.

Common sense, man.
but... but digital

Damn so its basically done but shipping issues holding it up? That fucking sucks.

More like logistical issues from that and entire studios working from home. Majority of the industry and those who I've contacted from of the smaller studios are all at home.

You can likely expect other studios to delay releases as well. I honestly would not be surprised to see Ghost of Tsushima, Cyberpunk 2077, and (those who care) Fallout 76's Wastelanders getting a delay.

Sigh.

Read the thread, there are plenty who outlined this, even Phil Spencer himself. Not to mention spoiler haven for those who buy physical, which is still the most units sold.
I've read the op
I also buy physical on ps4 but it's 2020.... Why would I care for those who can't go to media markt to pick up their game?
ok ok, I get it. I don't care if it's delayed. Just the mental gymnastics seem weird

I wonder how popular 'end of the world' type games will be in our new COVID reality. I think TLOU 2 will not do well and games like Cuphead will explode in popularity.

Yeah but we're still early in COVID times. As this thing extends further out by the fall, people will not want to continue watching/consuming doomsday content.

Represent.

Represent(ative) of bad opinions
And the audacity of these guys to release brand new, sexy ass screenshots, at the same time as the delay news. Lmao. Just cruel.

Release the shit digitally.

They have removed the Last of Us from the store. Not sure if I've been refunded yet (UK).

Update : Pre order page gone and no refund as of yet.

There is a noticeable trend in PS4 exclusives having fall of civilization scenarios.

Whereas, Nintendo & Microsoft are the opposite. Very bright, cheerful games. I can't help but think a game like TUNIC is a perfect example of what Microsoft is all about now.

I guess I didn't know the seriousness of this pandemic until it affected me personally, if I'm being honest. Not even about video games, but convenience overall.

I know they're making the right decision, this virus shouldn't have been a problem to begin with but I don't think we could have prevented it.

I love zombie games, even though Days Gone is more annoying than fun, and TLOU is a cinematic game. I think those sort of games are more interesting and they give the developers for fantastical scenarios to deal with.
