Not really. The rumor I was referencing actually came from Bloomberg back in February.

Nothing wrong with what I posted. Not my fault people get riled up for no reason. Cabin fever?
Cabin fever? More like bullshitter fever. I would love to see where, in that article, is a mention to chip yields. It talks about NAND flash memory and DRAM, which, by the way, is something affecting both consoles. So, yeah, you're spreading bullshit rumors when talking about chip yields.

And honestly, I'm not usually this confrontational, but it gets tiring seeing people left and right saying stuff that has no resemblance of truth. What a beautiful time to be alive.

I have a huge backlog, is GT Sport worth the time? I'm not big on GT since 4 though.

If you like competitive racing against real people where there’s actually a chance of good fair racing if you rank up enough, then yes.
If you like cars and bolting on various bits of easy mode to be in first place by the third corner against AI, then no.

That’s my take on it. It’s the closest console sim-racing has come to iRacing’s open events. Every other game you pretty much need to find and join a private league to not end up being used as extra braking by the guy behind.

The one in 2018 for their 8k TV. Of course I expect something like that at 4k native, not 8k at 60fps.

Actually they're officially aiming for 4K@240fps (4K@120fps per eye for VR), that is equivalent to 8K@60fps already.

Gamingbolt put up an article about the Matt insider/dev from Era's comments about XsX and PS5, stuff that has been discussed already on here for the last few days or so. Couple things that stand out to me though:
Pretty sure if the ps5 rt solutions have high performance in high clock the Gap will be very big in first party games at least to ps5 definitely ( better quality rt + higher quality models) , but on the other hand xsex will have higher advantage in many third party titles which won't take full advantage of ps5 sdd solution . Each console Will have it's special advantages

OH hell yeah it is!!! And it's dirt cheap now I seen prices around 15 thts a steal.
The last time they had like what? 5 day or so in advance. Or was it 4 days? So yeah, thats very possible imho.

Really depends what you rae looking for, Havent played it myself, but I have watched a lot of the official FIA GT Race series. Just to give you an example:

If that stuff gets you hyped, then yeah sure, why not try it. Plus there seems so be much more single player content now. Though nowhere near a "real" single player GT.

Thank you!

Broooo Days Gone was epic imo lol you don't know what you are missing. I stopped my backlog to play tht and don't regret it. I'm one thing away from a platinum.
GT:Sport is primarily online focused. For that purpose yeah it's very good - pickup races basically work and theirs safety and driver ratings to match make against. If you just want to do some offline career style play, not so much.

As a single player experience - it's dry since the career mode mainly consists of doing challenges and events. In that sense it's not much different to previous GTs but the customizing of the cars is reduced. The racing AI is improved over what it was but still lacks a certain something. It's almost too robotic so there's not that feeling of competition, but if you're driving "properly" then the AI is at least more likely to react to you in a reasonable way. Drive erratically though and the AI gets confused and just sticks to it's line no matter what.

To be honest, I never thought of GT as a "career" simulator and the customizing was kind of unrealistic so I didn't like that side much. For it's time it was good but better stuff has come along.

GT Sport is great for the multiplayer stuff, it's pretty generous with cash to buy new cars and as usual the graphics are phenomenal. But, if you're into iRacing, then that is a better driving/racing experience (and probably rFactor, pCars and Assetto Corsa are too but I haven't tried those for a long time) - GT has some features borrowed from iRacing and that's where it's focused.

Photo mode is incredible too if you're into that.
If you like competitive racing against real people where there’s actually a chance of good fair racing if you rank up enough, then yes.

Thanks guys, now I'm thinking of buying both. :messenger_grinning_sweat:
Still need to get back to bloodborne though... I'll let the idea cook for a couple of days.

The event in August is an architectural deep dive, so that's really for devs and techies. I expect this month an event that you can compare to a dedicated hardware reveal, like the TV TV TV event in May 2013. Pretty much similar to the PS5 event actually. It's not like Sony is only going to reveal the console and that's it. They are going to talk about OS features, new hardware features, new cloud stuff, etc. Microsoft still has to do the same, and I expect this during the June event. Hopefully as well as the reveal of the XSS.
But that already happen with DF and Evans I don't know if you are expecting another so they can show is secret chip or what which doesn't exist.

The only thing missing is deep dive in August, the only hardware presentation missing could be if the reveal XSS that's all.

What is MS waiting to show more of lockhart? More info on PS5 to be able to go further down pricewise or to avoid consumer confusion?
They've been pretty open about XSX so far...

I think they want to wait for every PS5 move before announcing Lockhard, trying to see if they can dominate the "hard-core gamer" market if, at the end, if their console cannot show graphics improvements over the PS5 and the perception of the public is that the PS5 is more powerful and games look better on it, MS would reveal Lockhart as an economic option.

If, as rumours suggest, Sony's chip yields are shit and they need to come in with a higher price than Xbox, the other way they will win is with objectively far better looking games to sell people on next-gen. This whole 'we want to focus on PS5-only experiences' stuff might be a way for them to justify $50 or $100 more than Xbox.

If they can somehow put across messaging along the lines of, "Sure Xbox Series X is cheaper but look at their games. You can play them on a current-gen system why waste your money? Come over to us and we'll give you a true next-gen experience".

Lower price + better performance won Sony the battle with PS4 but this time around, it looks like lower performance (on paper) and potentially a higher price for Sony. They really need to nail the games.

I'm not reading anything about bad yields from that Bloomberg article. Just about scarce parts but that could be attributed to any number of reasons.

From the Bloomberg article: "The company’s biggest headache is ensuring a reliable supply of DRAM and NAND flash memory, with both in high demand as smartphone makers gear up for fifth-generation devices, according to people familiar with Sony’s operations."

Your claim on what Bloomberg said.

"If, as rumours suggest, Sony's chip yields are shit and they need to come in with a higher price than Xbox"

So why are you not making a reference to the actual origins of the rumor?

Edit: Found the source.

Now I know why you didn't want to use the actual source.

Watching the PS4 reveal again, I'm actually happy that they announced the PS5 reveal to be "only" a bit over 1h.
There is a lot of fluff in the beginning of the PS4 reveal, also Knack. The highlights were clearly the first party studio output. The third party stuff started decent but got kinda boring towards the end. Some render trailers, some PR talk and gameplay that never looked as good in the final product.

So a bit over 1h of very focused content sound great.

1. Start with some emotional fluff, like a 2 min trailer that pulls on your heartstrings and shows you why gaming is somewhat an awesome hobby.
2. Some talk the history of the PS4, what they learned, how they are going to improve the hardware and "empower" "gamers"
3. Maybe show of the hardware and talk about the design goals (eliminating bottlenecks, faster game development, higher immersion)
4. Probably some of the future services, like where they wanne go with playstation now and maybe some new stuff. Also the social features of the console (create button)
5. GAMES. Mostly first party games. Probably gonna have the devs come out to talk about it more. So they wont just hammer out trailer after trailer like in some E3's but take a little bit more time per game and explain why this is only happening on playstation 5.
6. Maybe a bit about indy support and 3rd party relations, especially if they have some exclusive deals.
7. General round up and closing trailer with the games that were being shown.

Thats what I would expect atm.

I am 99% sure this console is real just not sure it launches the same time XsX does.

I see. But like what's the purpose then? if MS made this console to beat PS5 in term of price, why would they wait to release it then?

Unless they'll release XSX before PS5, then release Lockhart simultaneously with PS5?
(of course if PS5 will be out before XSX that would be an entire different story)

This whole thing is kind weird, seems MS is putting all kind of weird world war traps all over the places against Sony lol

My dream for sony's announcement is FPS : First Person Spider-Man in VR.
On the PS4, there was a kind of Spiderman VR demo, I've always thought it was an ad for their next generation game.
Fingers crossed 🤞
Just imagine how many of this game Sony's gonna sell....

I mean more with recent world affairs may affect its release timing more then anything.

As I understand things it was 100% to be released along side the XsX (and still may be) to give people a next gen 1080p option at an inviting price point at $300

Wasn't there the rumor of the Series X releasing in September and then as you say the Lockhart along the PS5 to counter?

By the way, I still kinda wonder about that Cyberpunk 2077 1X model. They should have done that for the Series X in a bundle at launch.

It's not a bad strategy for some of us that are planning on getting both. I could do a lockhart with gamepass + ps5. Win/win situation.

I'd hope they announce the new date this week. Especially if they are entering mass production of the hardware. Imagine seeing the hardware leaked like how the Radeon RX 3080 was?

And I mean, aren't the protests dying down a bit? I'm not from the US, but I don't see as many news about it now.

So yeah, keeping people waiting much longer is probably not a good idea... (I'm thinking this so I can belive they will announce it for the end of the week)
