You're trying to hard Night.Ninja Night.Ninja . I cannot expect anything from someone who is not even an active user in the discussion topic. Let's pretend there isn't a pandemic in place.

So I need to be an "active" user is this thread to have an opinion 🤷

I understand that this thread is like a PS5 circle jerk and anything that is not positive about the PS5 gets shot down or ridiculed with memes.

And yes we are in the midst of a pandemic but that is still not an excuse in my opinion.

But anyway I look forward to the event, it should be 1 hour or greatness.

not true, according to Sony PlayStation Blog:

So, top 100 games will run with higher framerate and/or higher res (boost mode, like Ps4 Pro).
All other games run it the same as PS4.

Source https://blog.playstation.com/2020/0...ls-of-playstation-5-hardware-technical-specs/

Well, maybe he knows more than Sony. lol

We believe that the overwhelming majority of the 4,000+ PS4 titles will be playable on PS5.

We’re expecting backward compatible titles will run at a boosted frequency on PS5 so that they can benefit from higher or more stable frame rates and potentially higher resolutions
. We’re currently evaluating games on a title-by-title basis to spot any issues that need adjustment from the original software developers.

In his presentation, Mark Cerny provided a snapshot into the Top 100 most-played PS4 titles, demonstrating how well our backward compatibility efforts are going.
We have already tested hundreds of titles and are preparing to test thousands more as we move toward launch. We will provide updates on backward compatibility, along with much more PS5 news, in the months ahead. Stay tuned!

So as I read it almost all will be playable and expected to run at boosted res and stable frame rates.

The 100 they tested was just to show out the top 100 how well it's going....?

Bingo. I don't think there's any way we'll hear anything today due to this. We'll hear tomorrow at the earliest though it won't surprise me if we skip this week and get into next week for info. We shall see.
That's not actually what I meant :messenger_grinning_sweat:

I meant they'll wait for the funeral's over then anything after that is game.

And they actually did give us a time! :messenger_beaming:

That's not true. When we had the GitHub leaks things were very different in this thread.

The truth is that this thread changes depending on what the current state of affairs is like. Currently Sony announced the PS5 reveal and thus the focus is on that. When Microsoft's event approaches the focus of the thread will start to shift to that.

It's something I've noticed since this thread was created.

If that Silent Hill by the original Team Silent rumour turns out to be true... fucking hell.

But if it's a fake as is my inkling, I'll send a virtual punch flying square between the eyes of Dusk Golem and that KatharsisT. Cos they heavily hinted its being revealed at the event and a no show means it's a fabrication surely.

We are not ready for a new Silent Hill. I think it will need a warning before you play it. 3D Audio + God-Tier level lighting will elevate the horror genre to new heights. And you better believe this shit will include a VR mode

I hope new Silent Hill goes heavy psychological horror instead of jump scare way. I want the experience to be terrifying with as little jump scares as possible, this includes some stuff from P.T. which were jump scares that I believe were cheap shots and lessened an otherwise perfect horror.

My plan for the reveal night is to wait two hours and watch it decently in 4K. YouTube premieres performs very poorly and I don’t want to spoil my first impressions. Also it’s not like a true live event. Is a video recorded more than one week ago. There is nothing worth of the “live” concept.

I miss old E3.

From how they worded the reason for the 1080P@30Hz video I doubt they have all of the event and trailers edited together in 4K.

However, the trailers shown might then drop on to YouTube separately from the respective developers or even on PlayStation’s channel after.

I doubt we’ll get the entire baked marketing video in 4K. If they already had it they’d just premiere that instead, or they’d have said it will be available afterwards in my opinion.

Horror in VR is straight up unplayable for some people. VR can transform a lot of genres but horror really can become something terrifying to the point nothing played on a TV will ever really spook you again. That was my experience with RE7 anyway. It’s one thing playing it on a TV and something else being in the room and physically leaning around a door frame to see what’s there.

The new train up yet? :messenger_winking:

Grab a seat. TGO TGO is firing up the engine

I couldn't agree more. I enjoy a good, tense, atmospheric psychological thriller. I have decent jumpscare tolerance but it's not my favorite type of "scary"

So if Thursday is just about games, and August in similar fashion via SoP, when do you think they will they announce the price? Do they even advertise that during a digital event? I'm getting it regardless of price, but just curious.

Also, I'm wondering if any of you plan to get a warranty with your Console. I remember the PS4 had that extended warranty option you could purchase in the PS Store I believe.

Is the event in August a state of play?

State of Plays are not usually a big event.

However we can expect some details such as price and launch dates from it. Just don't expect it to be as big as the PS5 reveal.

Oh come on man...just watch it and then rewatch in 4K, assuming there will be one. 2 extra hours of waiting? No way!

The rumor was a State of Play in August I believe. But yes, it's not big enough to house something like this, unless it's some special edition. I guess anything is possible.

Make sure you go dark during the show then as I'm sure there will be spoilers.

I doubt the 1080p30 broadcast is due to any bandwidth limitations. My guess is that parts or all of this presentation may very well have been provided in 4k, however this is a prerecorded 1 hour+ long video which means someone had to edit this all together. It's been watched many times internally looking for mistakes which if found means rendering the whole thing out yet again. Maybe the editor doesn't have access to their beefy work station they normally edit on, so dropping the resolution and bit rate down speeds the process up considerably both because of decreased rendering time and lower file transfer size.
