Comparing PS5 Vs Series X size - New pics

The way I see it - PS5 is much better suited for putting it into furniture, horizontally of course, while XBX is meant to stand like a tower. I just cannot image lying down that brick horizontally no matter how hard I try, it just hurts.

After laughing at you guys doing classic damage control (PS5 is smaller than SeriesX, look at the controllers bollocks. You know the PS5 pads are larger than PS4, and the SXS pads are smaller than X1 right? And that even today, the PS4 sticks are larger in width/height than the X1?), I had a quick look myself. Using the INNER USB (not the shell/outer) I estimate it to be 40cm tall (with fins) and 36.5cm for the inner body.

7DeaWpJ.jpg

Oddly enough, the USB socket is exactly 20cm from the base of the inner body to its location. Around 9.5cm at its widest part near the drive, 7.5cm at its thinnest part.

Volume of the console is not possible to estimate as we have no REAL depth image, but is taller than it is wide in this regard. As an estimate I would say about 30cm.

This next part is utter bollocks, but hey. Using the estimated width of 30cm, and taking the height/width of the inner section (keeping in mine even then, this inner section is concave), the PS5 volume here would be 8212.5cm3 (Compared to SeriesX 6863.101cm3)

Just a little fun, don't hang me or anything. But seeing so many strange ways people are doing it, it seems odd that people are not taking the one thing that WONT change (Inner USB) but using OUTER USB which is different for nearly everything.

xxx

(EDIT: BTW, I used 30cm as a base width here as an estimate because its clearly a rectangle and not a square, so it MUST be under 40cm wide, but also its not a thin rectangle, so it cant be 20cm wide. In truth it could be anywhere from 25cm to 35cm wide, 6843.75cm3 to 9581.25cm3).

So what do you think about a tacky green light hidden under what looks like the cheapest plastic grill ever made in recorded history?
but that isn't light, the grills are just colored.

Honestly the ps5 design is absolute shit. It's funny how fanboys were like "lol the xsx looks so shit" and now are like "y-yeah but it has some white parts in it, s-so it's futuristic!!" No it's shit.

I thought for the longest time there was a green light under the grills, but yeah, its just a shell under the top part that's green. Would have been cool being a green light that fades in and out as you turn it on, and then pulses if you had a message or something. Oh well.

On the topic of lights, I think the blue lights on the PS5 under the grills will be some sort of LED that can change colour based on what the OS needs, which will be fun. Doesn't stop the whole console looking shite mind you.

Yeah I think that too. Like I believe the ps5 will have ai assitant like alexa. So it will probably be some breathing LED. I think they kinda designed the console in a way to be some sort of gaming-alexa type

I see this FUD's been spreading here too. Here's some pics from the same thread on Era that are much more accurate

These give us a much better idea of the size comparison between these boxes. The depth of the PS5 is roughly 1.5x the depth of the XSX, not double as the shitty fan render in the OP would have you believe.

Thank you so much. It's about time somebody shut the FUD down.

Except it is more close to 20cm in width than 30cm.
The proportion is 1.9:1 height:width.

38x20
36x18
34x17

Using your own numbers 36.5 x 19 x 7.5 = 5201 cm3 (way smaller than Xbox).

I just need to buy the right piece of furniture under the new 4K TV and put a PS5 in it, very easy.

EverydayBeast

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
SONY took the Playstation brand to another level, and I'm sure a lot of gamers are making room now in their entertainment centers, looking for bigger storage arrangements.

I actually nearly forgot this, the most important one for most... This is a 40cm #PS5 versus a 30.1cm #SeriesX. Both are scaled the same way, and the stands are NOT included, for either system, however the base ground level is the same.

There is NOTHING available for its width, not even a legit pic. This is bullshit. Just so you know. you can estimate its width, which would be anything from 20cm to 40cm, however 20cm is FAR too small, and 40cm would make it square. Your measurements are off. Remember you can't use USB shell, you need to use USB connection (inside), which is uniform on any USB port (USB shell isn't). Also remember you can't use controllers for scale, because A) the new PS5 controller is larger than PS4/Series X controller is small than Xbox One, and B) The PS4 stick is wider than the xbox one stick, but also the PS5 stick has changed to a different scale, which nobody knows.

That shows the sides design, but is not an accurate description of its width. There is a study on this called "perceived visual angle", where you take shots of objects at a certain slope angle and never show things dead on, to mask their overall size.
Do you want it zooned? Look at the logo and see if it has "perceived visual angle".

I don't think you know what it is you're even looking at to be fair, but please, party on mate. Either way, regardless of the size of the side, the actual height (without stand) is 40cm, which you are far off on. So please, continue your totally none biased posting in every thread. Ii look forward to seeing the next goal post movement.

I refuse to believe that Sony intended to set out on making a console this huge. Hitting that 10TFpr is what has got us here imo.

You contradict yourself.

You first says 36.5cm and now 40cm (I always said in my estimates 38cm).
You FUD with the width being 30cm.

40x30cm is that:

Not that:

Why do you want to make the PS5 bigger than it is?

40cm tall (with fins) and 36.5cm for the inner body. That's exactly what I've said.
I'm not disputing your height estimates it just you used a number and claim another lol
If you say 40cm then the width is 21cm.

You need a distorted view to believe it is 40x30.

For what its worth, you cant realistically give a serious value to the volume of the console. You're missing one axis of measurement, and the console is shaped in a strange way. The only way you will get a good measurement is by creating a more accurate 3d render and calculating its volume based on its 3d space.

Regardless, this thing is ugly as shit (opinion) and large (fact).

There is no way to know the size of the side, which is why I gave a range. You cant just say "the height is X so it MUST be Y". Thats not how it works. You can give a guess, an estimate. But you can't say its 100% 21cm.

They’ll shew the teardown and will see how they ended up with this monster. All I care about is if it fits under the cabinet and I wish they went for function over design but we will see.

Looks like the XSX should be smaller than that comparision suggests as the Blu Ray drive should be the same size. They are both 125mm/ 5 inches on PS4 Pro and XB1X.

You can't use the blu-ray drive either as the slots are different sizes and its not fair for either console.

I'm gonna go deeper here. Looking at the shape of the console from the weird angle the photos are taken at, and bearing in mind that any product is also shown to minimise their angles, its rather telling. Once you get over the shape of the console and map a box around its shape (Because those fins are not just ugly, but also deceiving in pictures), you can get another perspective on things.

Now I will let people decide. Once you project a rough rectangular cage around the shape of the console (And remember those fins being curves are bent make it look a shape that its really not), which does it look "closer" to? 20cm? 30cm? 35cm?

For me, personally, I can see it closer to 30cm, as 20cm is much too small. But I'll let you all decide.

Digital version in horizontal.

PS5-Horizonal-View_06-17-20-600x337.jpg

My estimates were 8.5cm to the bottom (left) part but I think it is way lower... maybe 4-5cm max.
The top part (right) is still 8.5cm with the middle at 6.5cm.

The BD drive version is 9.5cm at bottom (left).

Well the digital is way smaller in volume than what I estimated perhaps closer to 5000cm3 than 6000cm3.

That so much work to prove a point, but it looks scientific so I approve.
