Getting Switch Lite for Birthday - Some Questions

Darkmakaimura

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
Getting a brand new (condition-wise) Switch Lite in a few days (eBay says September 15th) as a birthday gift but have some questions....

What kind of batteries do it use? Is it like a rechargable Lithium battery?

Looking at getting Skyrim, Diablo 3 or Bloodstained. I can only afford one game, maybe two if cheap. I heard Bloodstained is kinda broken without patching but I really want it.

I don't have Wifi at home. Is the firmware large and game patches? I'll have to find a place with free wifi to download stuff. Any good RPGs that won't require patching should I not be able to on the day I get it .

I bought a 2 year protection plan.

I kinda want to get Animal Crossing so next time I go out of town my friend's girlfriend can play. Is this game actually something I might enjoy?

The gray Switch I bought says "32gb". Is that the internal memory for saves and downloads?

Is there a cheap stand I can buy so I can watch movies and stuff?

Anything else I should know?

Yeah buy the OG Switch.
You charge it like a phone, no additional batteries needed. You really don’t know much about the Switch do you?

If you can help a few more greenbacks get yourself the dock for TV Mode. Once Metroid and Breath of the Wild 2 release it would be a shame to enjoy those games on such a tiny screen instead of a big TV.

Nope and this was a gift so it has to be the Lite. I'd prefer an OG switch so I can play on the TV but it will be a Lite.

Btw I haven't properly owned a Nintendo console since SNES. lol.

Even though it’s a gift I would pay out of my pocket myself for the upgrade, you loose half the fun of a Switch going with the Lite.
Happy B day
Thank you. But unfortunately I'm dirt poor. After buying a game (or two if I can find cheaper ones) I'll be busted out.

Oh another question.

I'm assuming Switch has apps. I know it can do Youtube but are there any other cool apps?

And if any of you want, send me your handle or ID or whatever they call it so I can add some of you as frens.

1. charges via usb c
2. skyrim is great on the switch
3. yes the patches are usually pretty big. go to a free wifi area
get a glass screen protector and a case

edit: missed one, but there is internal storage but you're going to want to buy an SD card for it at some point

Hi,

-It has an internal lithium battery which you charge via the included charger.

-I played a lot of Diablo 3 on PS4 and it plays the same on switch (you see graphical differences if you put them side by side, but it's not a graphical demanding game either). I don't know how the other two play.

-Mmm patches aren't too big (majority are less than 300MB), downloads vary in size: Diablo 3 is ~14GB, but Mario Odyssey is ~6GB, and NBA 2k20 is an atrocity with 40GB of data. Most games are below 6GB. Expect sizes like PS3/X360 era.
I think that you can buy a ethernet to usb adapter and plug it to the Switch, but only with the OG Switch because the lite doesn't have a dock.

- I don't know your tastes so I don't know if you would like Animal Crossing, lol

-Yeah, 32GB is the internal memory. You can upgrade it with micro sd cards.

-Mmm I don't know of stands, I don't have a lite.

I plan on getting a case, definitely.

Good to hear about Skyrim. How is Diablo 3 on Switch? I know a lot of people hate the game itself but I loved it on 360.

Wait? You mean Diablo 3 has a 14gb patch or is that full game because I'm buying all the games on physical.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
OP DO NOT BUY BLOODSTAINED

As much as I love the game, it's still pretty broken on the Switch, and last I checked it still requires a Nintendo account linked to your console (requires Wifi) and it does an online check every time you boot it up (also requiring Wifi) - even when playing from a physical cartridge.

Quick note on the Lite. I had serious drift issues on my launch switch. I think the lite looks awesome, just get an extended warranty if you can.

Diablo3 is a great port, DLC included, 60fps. I put over 1k hours into it on Switch alone. You'll get your moneys worth. I think it's only $40 too.

Also check out Borderlands2, get the handsome edition...about the same price, all DLC included.

Save and get the actual normal Switch. Welp too late for that.

I hope you don't get the drift.

as others have said the game updates can be quite big, so if you buy a micro sd card get at least a 128gb one.

I don't know if you like beat em ups but I recently got Streets of Rage 4 myself and I'm loving it, the update patches have been small too.

It's a shame you don't have wifi at home as there is quite a few free to play games on switch Dauntless, warframe etc.

The full game.

Same with Mario and NBA
Ok you worried me that I was going to have to download a 14gb patch. I just bought it btw.

I'm going to go crazy and suggest you consider two lesser known Switch games - The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey.
Breath of the Wild was also my other choice but I didn't have the money for it and it didn't seem to be available at the store.

If you wanted to get more value out of your switch, you could get switch online for the collection of NES and SNES games. I think it is about 8US for 3 months or 20US for a year of games like Super Mario bros, Legend of Zelda, F Zero etc. If your internet is an issue, it only needs to handshake online every week I think.

Some suggestions i have would be:
Dragon Quest XI (classic jrpg with lots of post game content)
Disgea 5 (turn based combat with over a hundred hours of playtime) A bit of a grinder though.
Legend of Heroes Cold Steel 3 and soon 4. I think you mentioned that you are a legend of heroes fan, so if you have played 1 and 2 it is a good choice.
Witcher 3

What is a good RETAIL game for $25 or $30 bucks (new preferably, not used)?

I like RPGs, both western and Japanese. I also like Zelda type games. I saw Darksiders Warmastered and Darksiders Genesis are fairly cheap but I'll take recommends.

I like to use Deku Deals to find deals for Switch games: www.dekudeals.com

It tracks prices for physical and digital versions on several stores and you can search by genre. It’s a pretty great website.

Hope you enjoy your Switch!
Thanks.

I have 30 bucks I can spend but I might hold off until I have another 20 bucks (it is my birthday soon so hopefully soon) so I can get Breath of the Wild. I haven't played a Zelda game in a coon's age, maybe not since the mid 2000s and BotW looks so fun.

I cannot wait until Tuesday.

He probably has 4 years to save up before Metroid. Plenty of time.

Is this a euphemism? What does this mean? You want to buy something for someone else to use?
Me, my friend and his girlfriend like to go out of town to this small town called Laughlin. It is like a miniature Las Vegas Strip literally right next to the Colorado River.

Me and my friend like to drink and smoke and he is a processional gambler. I drink but only smoke when I drink and go out with him. I do not gamble unless he has me do it with his money using his Player's Club card. He does thus because it allows him to accumulate points quickly.

His gf is pure. She does not drink or smoke or gamble.

She's a health nut who listens to John B Wells and Alex Jones.

Whenever we go out there, she pretty much does her own thing which includes salad bars, jogging, going to the pool or doing readings for people.

So me and my friend sit at the bars while she relaxes elsewhere or in the room.

I figure next time we go, I can bring out Animal Crossing if I get it so she can play it. I don't think she has ever played a game and she might like it and it'll give her something to do.

A used cart isnt the same to me as someone's sloppy seconds optical disk with scratches and smears...there's not even save data on there afaik

i found dark souls for thirty something at gamestop

If you ever get a pc with interenet , message me. i teach u tf2.
I've played TF2 on Orange Box back in the day. Not really a big fan of competitive FPS albeit I did enjoy Halo 3 and 4 online as well as Call of Duty.

It makes me sad that no one has told you to get the best Switch game yet, Mario + Rabbids.
Probably not my kind of game.

My eyeballs are mainly on BotW now. Mario Maker or whatever it's called might be fun.

Who is that one girl who kinda looks goth and she has pony tails and a red dress. She's in a couple Mario games methinks? If she in Mario Maker? Don't you have to rescue her in a Smash game or something?

Darkmakaimura Darkmakaimura here are a few of my recommendations for someone in your situation - games that cost less than $30, don't require wi-fi (outside of going to a public place to download patches once), and have a pretty good replay value. Bonus points because you said you like RPGs which some of these are.

Do you like strategy games? Civ VI is almost infinitely replayable and it's only $15.

I personally really enjoyed Trials of Mana, it was a great remake of the classic "never released in the West" Secret of Mana 2. Game took about 25 hours to complete, but has a huge amount of replayability as the story changes pretty drastically based on which of the heroes you choose, and in what order.

If you haven't played these classic on PC - well, they're classics for a reason. A decent amount of replayability, but notable here because either collection offers 80+ hours for a run through of both games. Although - not sure how well these scale text-wise for the Switch Lite.

Rogue-like deckbuilding card game, universally praised and another game that is nearly infinitely replayable.

Have you played this shit? Both games hold up really well.

Just a few to think about, and these are just physical games.

I was just looking at FFX actually along with Zodiac Age.

As for Civilization, I don't care too much for that genre.
