leshgo!

Thought I had to wait till october for news/announcements from Sony.

To me a pretty big difference in caring what someone does and waiting to "bleed them out" as the terminology I was told.

Also heard it was a "War of attrition" from a few places and thats exactly what this show is in response to.

Just all my opinion of course.
we know since that forbes article that sony is weary of their pricing and will wait for microsoft to announce first.
nothing changed, and in fact if microsoft didnt have the leak this past week, most probably sony's event would not even have been announced today.

A lot of conjecture in this and none of it rises to needing rebuttal, my statements stand.

The Xbox situation is much worse than some might think. (I have made a comparison in the past about the interest in next-gen consoles. The Xbox has already done very badly there. Basically, this was the worst case scenario that happened)
North America is the last market for Xbox. Let's take a look at the polls shown above. Not good for Xbox. Roughly like the current generation. But in the two "polls" shown above, I guess that the people who voted are mostly from North America, because IGN and Gamespot are more American based than European/rest of the world. In North America, Xbox has sold the most One consoles (approximately 70%).
What does this mean? Well, this should be self-explanatory.

Forbes, the ultimate go to authority back in Feb for whats happening now, noted.
Forbes had business men talking to them about sony's BOM and all the problems it rose for them. It was exactly at the time when usually manus set their prices. Also it was there that the cooling solution was described as "more expensive than usual", meaning instead of sony' standard below a buck, "a few bucks"
Do you need a link to the article?

It's almost like people bring up things in the past to try and prove a point but forget about other events in history that nullify said point. I mean if they sold the PS3 at a huge loss compared to the materials there is no way they could do it again.

Forbes? Are you referring to the Bloomberg article(s)? If so then the journalist doesn't have the best record IMO.

Funny how I had a dozen people in here telling me how sony doesnt give a shit about whatever microsoft does

is this supposed to be funny? you think S materialized last week or something?
No, ofc not. Why do you think we heard murmors of this long time ago?
Like that comment from Jonathan Blow, remeber that?
The reason he mentioned PS5 over the competition was, most likely, that he already knew MS was bringing to different targets to the table.
i.e. more work for devs.

IF Xbox show didnt leak most PROBABLY sony's event would not even have been announced today

Your definition of conjecture is totally different than mine
February 2020 said:
The Japanese conglomerate is preparing to gradually replace the six-year-old PS4 console, releasing its PlayStation 5 the same holiday season its archrival debuts the upcoming Xbox Series X. Sony typically finalizes a console’s price in February of the release year, followed by mass production in the spring. With the PS5, the company is taking a wait-and-see approach, said the people, asking not to be named because the details are privat.....
......
People within the PlayStation business unit said a key factor in deciding the ultimate PlayStation 5 retail price will be where Microsoft sets its price for the next-generation Xbox Series X. Microsoft is widely expected to hold that information back until the E3 gaming expo in Los Angeles in June.
yeap, no conjecture

Advantage in computing performance is easy to proof. Sony still has to proof how I/O advantage relates. Personally, I believe that it's absolutely oversized, given the fact, that there is no single scenario where you can really take advantage over Microsoft's slower I/O solution. 4.8 GB/s is a hell amount of data. However, it will take until end 2021 before we see first next gen engines in action. Until then, we have to wait. My guess is still, that PS5 I/O is designed with mid-gen refresh in mind. I'm more worried about Microsoft game management. They are obviously in trouble. Although I am convinced that exclusive games are not everything ... they are part of the platforms it. The situation at Microsoft Studios is rather weak at the moment.
Only Sony has already shown the I/O on both UE5 and with Ratchet on an actual PS5. Microsoft hasn‘t shown anything close! Sony still has more....Wednesday will be the nail in the coffin.

Don't bother with him is just a waste of time, because when cornered without any arguments left, he'll just put you on ignore.
Not accounting that he consider his speculations as facts and will barely ever answer something relevant to what you will say.

You are right I usually try not to argue with people on here about stuff but it was good reading materials.

Expectations

- UI Reveal with loading time into one of the gameplay videos
- some idie games
- HFW gameplay
- Miles Morales gamplay
- R&C gameplay
- God of War teaser

Not by any specific order.

I don’t think Sony will waste its time with another R&C gameplay, we’ll probably get a quick trailer for it but seeing how it’s only a 40 min event I think they’ll focus on stuff we barely seen anything on like Miles Morales

I‘m incredulous that so many people think that the leak was genuine.

It was controlled. It was deliberate.

They had social media copy and images ready to go instantly. They had a video ready to go within hours. They had dummy consoles out to Youtubers in a couple of days. They had advertising slots in place. All of that needs signing off at an executive level. It was all managed.

The leak was controlled.

Come on guys, don’t just fall for what you’re being fed.
I think they expected Sony to drop the price or date with the cod reveal and had the info locked and loaded and it got leaked. I hope Microsoft learns from this and stops making pre release material in the vain of those media briefings because they are so nauseating.

I'll put this here for me to maybe quote later:

As much as I love Sony and I'm probably going to preorder a PS5, I dont expect any bombshells from this. Some more Ratchet, GT7 and some Spiderman, maybe DS and HZD. A little bit of CoD here and other 3rd party stuff there.
I dont think they've been holding AAA games back. I dont think any major yet unannounced exclusive (first party) will release in the first year of PS5. I really dont believe any rumors at this point.

That is the mindset with which I will go into this and honestly I would recommend the same here to a lot of people. Too many are setting themselves up for disappointment. I think what Sony has shown so far is enough to warrant a purchase from me personally. I also want to play some current gen stuff on the PS5, just for better loading times and 60 fps like Cyberpunk and Mafia Remake. That plus Spiderman is already enough for the rest of the year.

So yeah, calm your tits, check your expectations and dont let your hype control your happiness :).
We already know the Sully game is real and God of War is ready for a demo. Bend might have something as well.
