How much gameplay there is in 'Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales - Gameplay Demo'?

What exactly are you complaining about?

That you have issues with QTEs and Cinematics in a cinematic sequence in a Spiderman game?
I'm not complaining. I'll repeat myself: show me a main story mission segment from the first game that is anywhere as bad as that "gameplay" trailer of MM.

So now the gameplay is bad?

What are you actually complaining about?

If it's about the cutscenes the original has plenty of them.

Not to mention the QTEs as well.

Are you saying the game is the problem or the trailer that they gave us?

Or is this some weird theory that Insomniac is being dishonest with a gameplay trailer?

So much "concern"

I'm getting lost with him. But it seems like he's saying the game will be like watching a movie based off what he saw in the trailer. I'm expecting the game to be very similar to the first one. That is gameplay mixed in with QTEs and Cutscenes. Doesn't make it a movie though in my opinion.

Edit: This is what I'm expecting the gameplay to be like.

Pretty much. Seems like more of a fake concern thread than anything else. Im a pretty big Insomniac fan and I know what their games are like. Saying that there isn't enough gameplay in them is just bullshit in my opinion.

I'm probably going to end up enjoying this game and Ratchet and Clank with many others.

They marketed Spider-Man the same way, featuring big cinematic scenes, because they look cool. They're handling Miles Morales the same way. And Miles, I'm sure, will have the same mix of cinematics to gameplay as Spider-Man did.

I suspect the OP has not played Spider-Man, and so he is mistaking marketing for the actual game. That's not how it works.

Do you think that the same team who made spidey on ps4 forgot how to made more "gamey" missions?

I mean, it's an open world game, there is gonna be plenty to play.

Previews are gonna come out in the next weeks same for new footage with unskilled journalists, we have just to wait.

so you can travel in a straight line no matter where you put your web sling. and run like flash straight up buildings fall from hundreds of meters onto concrete... cutscenes, shitload of interrupting animations and a little qte on top of that lol. these blockbuster games makes me feel old.

I'm alright with some cinematics in games, but cant stand them when they just randomly start from you walking mid point on a bridge or something. Very jarring and breaks immersion.

I am kinda tired of cinematics masquerading as gameplay too.
Just pressing a button and then watching a repetitive animation play out that is just there to look cool.

DMC5 is extremely visually impressive and cool in the hands of a good player and there's not really any of that in the game, instead of pressing a button and watching your character go through a big animation to kill the enemy you're actually the one doing it.

Now i know what? Why we have heavy QTE in 2020??
Yes because it's a cinematic Super Hero game. You can't pull off those sequences with regular gameplay.

Maybe do some research on game design or actually just play more gems would be the best option.

Looks like an interactive movie. Guess we like different things.

You don't know what an interactive movie is like to be honest. Try some of David Cages games?

Spiderman is filled with gameplay. You just need to try it out for yourself first before calling it a David Cage game.

I re-watched the most recent "gameplay" demo for upcoming Spider-Man game on YouTube in 4k because we all know how shitty the bitrate is in live streams. Graphics look great but I noticed something strange. For a gameplay demo, there's very little actual gameplay included. And because I'm bored, I decided to run some numbers and analyze the bridge section from the clip.

Here's the breakdown:
2:42 - 4:03 - cinematic (82 seconds)
4:04 - 4:29 - gameplay (26 seconds)
4:30 - 4:40 - cinematic (11 seconds)
4:41 - 5:08 - gameplay (28 seconds)
5:09 - 5:36 - cinematic (26 seconds)
5:37 - 5:42 - gameplay (6 seconds)
5:43 - 6:20 - QTE cinematic (38 seconds) - square, triangle, R1
6:21 - 6:23 - gameplay (3 seconds)
6:24 - 7:12 - QTE cinematic (49 seconds) - square

To summarize:
  • In this short demo control is taken from you for a total of 4 times;
  • You are in complete control of the character 4 times, twice for a very short period of time (6 seconds / 3 seconds);
  • Cinematics where you are passively watching amount to around 44% of total time of this section;
  • If you include cinematics with QTE sections, total cinematic time is around 76.5%;
  • You control Spidey for ~23.5% of the time.

I know Sony is known for "cIneMaTiC eXpErIeNcEs" but I think they are pushing it too far. If I want to watch Spider-Man I will stream Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (best movie of 2018). It's just one demo but I think it's telling that Sony decided to show their game in this manner.

Let's discuss.

Honestly im not impressive... this game can be in ps4 easily.

if they want show me a next gen... should be like this animation
