Gonna be odd firing up Elder Scrolls 6 on a Ps5 to see the XBox Studios logo 😂

If for example Elder Scrolls 6 is allowed on PS5 there's no way Microsoft will want it to run better on that platform... It will run shit and Microsoft can claim XSX is the best platform to play... So for me I'd be very surprised if we see future Bethesda studio games appear on PS5. 🤔

Did Outer Worlds ran like shit on PS4?

There's no if. Elder Scrolls will never be on a Playstation platform from here on

This seems highly unlikely - it degrades the BGS image and ultimately Microsoft. Most likely it becomes an Xbox exclusive or they get better content

So some of the games will still be multiplatform. Odd choice Xbox, shoulda just locked them all up. Good move for Game Pass regardless.

Deathloop and Tokyo GW are only releasing because it’s a contractual obligation and MS would be forced to pay back funds if that contract was breached.

There’s no chance big games like TES6, Starfield, or the next doom get released on PS consoles moving forward. Case by case likely means A/AA titles that can be ported to Switch.

Seriously though, this is uncharted territory. Bethesda are a massive publisher, to have all of their games Day 1 on GP is such a massive boost in trying to grow that service. The value proposition on Xbox overall is so hilariously one-sided, especially in lieu of Sony hiking the price and in turn fucking over their biggest market i.e. Europe with €79.99 titles.

Folks are also under-selling the impact it'll have on overall industry, this is not necessarily restricted to console wars. If Microsoft are being this aggressive, it's only natural they'll regain some of that market share from Sony. But, in overall scheme of things, it's a massive push in trying to legitimatize subscription and may result into massive publisher acquisitions akin to this such as Square, Capcom, From, CDPR and host of other publishers. Especially, with Google, Apple, and Amazon looking to invest big in gaming industry.

A massive reason as to why PS4 sold 100m+ is down to 3rd party impact, it was the de facto choice for your every big 3rd party title and had exclusivity deals with almost all major publishers. With GamePass being such a huge disruptor to traditional business model, how will the masses react having to pay $69.99 to play these games on other platform? When they could play them for $10 a month? And in certain select cities in US, without even any investment via xCloud? I already see impact of Game Pass among hardcore Xbox fans, they are reluctant to buy games at full price and wait for them to hit Game Pass in future, or just drop extremely cheap in price before they purchase. How will casuals react when they come to realization of this huge value proposition which Xbox have? And how will it affect their other gaming purchase? These are all legitimate questions which are associated with an acquisition like this, which is trying to legitimize and push subscription model for gaming. Next-gen is going to be a fascinating watch as it develops.

Also in light of this news, I hope this "anti-consumer" non-sense is done for good, and I don't have to ever hear it from anyone on gaming forums.

I've sent this in another thread, think it's pertinent here too.
Sony shouldn't respond to this directly, but rather take the opportunity to do a little business shake-down.
I would suggest:

Maybe rethink their launches on PC (this is arguably 100% MS territory now).
Focus on exclusives (1st and/or 3rd party, preferably not timed).
Expand PlayStation Studios (by hiring more talent on already incorporated developers).
More "PS Advantages" on multiple AAA games.

I still believe Sony has the upper hand, specially since the PS5 is reportedly easier to code for. This could mean higher quality Indies/AA's, and fast tracking the development of AAA's.
And remember, game studios are only as good as the talent of their devs.
Sony doesn't need to outright acquire these Billion dollar companies, when they can hire 100 of their best employees (yes, I know, contracts and etc).

Wait so Microsoft bought Bethesda and now all their games on Game Pass.... but some/all are also gonna be on other platforms too? Thats odd choice, like Minecraft?

No way, they gotta be locking those games up to Xbox/PC. No way they let Starfield/Scrolls6 go to PS5.
they actually can and will. It makes sense because players on other platforms may look at the 70 dollar price tag and decide to jump on-board with gamepass. If they don’t release it on other platforms, the games will not get enough visibility or sales. The gamepass model will not work. However, once the subscription number is high enough, the story will be very different.

100 percent this As the prices are rising for the consumer they will look elsewhere to try and save money and keep their hobby going without the need to break the bank.

Personally the rise in $70 games doesn't make sense to me as its not across the board for all publishers such as CoD from Activision and Godfall from Gearbox.

This is similar to Obsidians Outer Worlds, where by Take Two had acquired the Marketing rights just before Microsoft bought them out. 🤔

the same thing happened when microsoft bought Rare every one said mic drop in 2001 and look how it was turned

If you buy studios does not means necessarly you win

it is how to use them and how to manage them

having billions of dollars does not mean insta win

If this is true sony would be out from the console business long ago

but I hope this make sony violent again and not arrogant it is win for us

I prefer sony games so I will stay with ps5 and see how it goes

Worst case scenario thats even possible is PlayStation ends up like Nintendo. An exclusive 1st party game machine. Nintendo found their market and support their console with their games. Sony will need to continue to do the same.

The only thing sony could really do to counter that effectively is to buy take two, get GTA, bully, red dead etc
Sony need more studios instead a big IPs also the price of Take two should be much more of all Zenimax.

But yes agree Sony need to start to spend money or they can lose many IPs in the middle of this gen.

Btw Nintendo or you do something more than release remaster/remakes or you will left alone in less than a decade.

Worth reminding people that EA Play has been on PS4 for a while now, so it isn't like Sony aren't open to having 3rd party subscriptions available.
Probably not going to happen in the short term, but if the talk of MS moving away from consoles and more to Game Pass style things is true, then it may be feasible in the future to have Game Pass on a PlayStation. All speculation and wishful thinking mind!

If games for PS5 and PS3 cost the same ($60) then games would actually be less expensive than ever before. Its not sustainable or realistic to never raise prices. Its been 14 years. Find any other industry that doesn't raise prices for over a decade.
