Couldn’t find another thread like it so here goes?

What‘s been your favourite 1st person shooter of the generation and why?

Vote for 2

My picks, Destiny - It gave me hundreds of hours of content, PVE, PVP, Raid. The Gunplay is my favourite of any shooter, I made some real life friends I keep in contact daily lol.

And Infinite Warfare: Hugely under rated. Campaign was pretty awesome, Ethan the Droid is one of my favourites, he’s up there with BT from Titanfall 2 and it had a great ending.

PS TitanFall 2 is awesome too but I knew Infinite Warfare wont get much love
Doom was sublime also

PS there was not enough space for more

Can't believe I'm saying this (guess I don't enjoy FPS so much anymore) but I had the most fun with Wolfenstein: The New Order, several years ago. Machine Games subsequent efforts paled in comparison. Honorary shoutout to Far Cry 5.

For me, it was Metro Exodus. What a game. Loved the whole atmosphere and story. Grahpics where also incredible. That beeing said, I still loved the two wolfenstein games and Doom & Doom Eternal.

Targeting terrorists with a D-Pad
Single: Doom, easily.
Multi: CoD: WWII, by a landslide. Or at least the game I had/am having the most fun with. Although the lootbox system may burn, of course.

Have yet to play Doom Eternal and Metro Exodus, though.

For me it's BF 1. Loved the guns and many of the maps in that one. Still boot it up once in a while. Many people didn't like it, but it's my favorite Battlefield by far.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Surprised more people prefers the 2016 sequel of Doom than Eternal.

In my case I prefferd the later. The gameplay and the music were just too good.

I have to say Infinite Warfare.

I had long given up on the franchise, but I got it free and was really surprised. It does exactly what it says on the tin without any unnecessary diversions or overlong tutorials etc.
It was pretty much perfect for what it was. It won't surprise you but it does entertain.

That's a tough one for me. I was impressed with Modern Warfare (new one), so I'll pick that. DOOM was good but I'm getting tired of the franchise.

Doom 2016 & Titanfall 2 were perfect, but I would add Far Cry 5 too if I could - while not at the same level as the other 2 it was absolutely superb & I loved it.

If I had two votes I would choose Titanfall 2 and Doom 2016 (not Eternal and its cooldowns 🤢🤮). As I only have 1 vote it goes for Doom. Amazing campaign and tech.

Doom 2016 or Far Cry 5 for me, i really enjoyed both games, although FC5 isn't just a FP shooter, so i'll choose Doom.

DOOM (for SP anyway)
I put most hours into Overwatch for MP

Honourable mentions go to:

Titanfall - the original had an amazing but short lived (for me) multiplayer experience. I think it's MP was better than TF2.

Halo 5 - the best feeling Halo multiplayer gameplay of the series

Star Wars Battlefront 2 - actually ended up being an amazing game years later and is a must play if you're a Star Wars fan

Edit: I still haven't played Doom Eternal which is stupid of me considering how much I loved 2016

The original Titanfall, by far. TF2 while having the best FPS SP campaign in the last decade or so, is waaaay behind in terms of MP and Co-op compared to its predecessor. Doom was great but got boring really really fast. CoD4 Remaster was absolutely brilliant though, but it's an old game in new clothes, so my vote ultimately goes to TF, both the Pilot and Titan gameplays are second to none.

If I had to pick a top three..

Prey. Maybe not really a shooter pers se, but you could play it that way if you wanted. Story/design had me 100% gripped from start to finish.

Titanfall 2. Campaign was super fun, just over too quickly.

Far Cry 5. Wasn't planning to like this as much as I did. Usually get bored of these Ubi games halfway through, but played this right to the end. The helicopters were a blast, pls include them in future games.

Honorable mention - Predator Hunting Grounds. Not really into mp shooters anymore, but had a blast playing this with friends for a few weeks this summer.

The Wolfenstein Games are great! Over the top nazi slashing story driven SP game with great gunplay. Metro would be my 3rd choice.

But I miss COD:MW 2019.

Titanfall 2 was awesome. Doom was pretty good as well. Thinking about it (not just from this list) it was a pretty underwhelming generation for me.

Destiny 1/2 stole the most hours from me this generation. Probably somewhere between 4-5k hours between them. By far my favorite gun play in any game. Cannot wait to boot it up on next-gen with 60fps and instant loads...

Also have TitanFall 2 right up there. Such a fun, fast paced game.

I haven't played a CoD since Ghosts and still haven't gone back to play either of the Dooms (kids, work, and life really eat into your game time but I'll get there eventually).
