As for the green I'm seriously wondering which marketing tactic will be better at selling consoles. I guess we have to see if views really matter when it comes to console sales.

It is laughable to consider the PS5 teardown uninteresting for Digital Foundry and their followers. It has many important news and innovations to comment it without having a console themselves:

They can explain the benefits of the liquid metal, the concept of cooling the stuff from both sides of the board, the giant heatsink, the unique air flow design, this type and this size of fan, the external SSD bay, and so on. And how all this would mean as cooling system and to be a quiet console, the implications of PS5 having wifi 6, Bluetooth 5.1 and USB 3.1 gen 2 while not the case for Series X, the specs difference of this technology vs the Series X one, etc.

As i said befor, its his opinion. Maybe he found the controlled environment of the way the video was done uninteresting. Again opinions

i personally thought the video was enough and got enough out of it without further need to hear peoples opinions

Seemed like a long multi year honeymoon to me.

DF had no problem telling gamers for years PS4 games are 1080p and Xbox One struggled anywhere from 720, 900, and hopefully 1080p. Don't remember seeing any PS fans saying that standard 1080p PS4 game 97% of the time is bad analysis.

I meant the short honeymoon from the thread where they said they spoke to devs and fans will be surprised (or something like that).

Fast forward a few days and we got this conspiracy again. All because they don't want to make a video on someone else's teardown video.

Even if they did or when they get an actual hands on, these same individuals will just make another thread crying foul if it's not 1000000% "ps5 shits all over the xbox".

Same reason why those youtubers got the XSX. It's all part of marketing and the views means that people actually saw those videos. It's a way to increase hype and awareness for a product. Which leads to an increase in sales.

Also why Sony loved to shove "captured on PS5" into everyone's faces. It's a way to drive up hype and sell systems.

If they didn't, then it would be an additional cost in industrial waste, and because it was disassembled, when that PS5 got rebuilt by a technician it would have been tested beyond production level, just like a random inspection unit, so would be higher grade stock than a normal assembly line unit.

Back in the day(20years ago), any Sony UK staff member that bought discounted stock from the company was getting reworked returns, so Sony historically don't throw away anything they don't have to. Even the widespread recall of CCD cameras they did with faulty glue were repaired, not replaced. My F717 came back better than it was when brand new, but was definitely my camera.

We’ve only up until now seen some Japanese Youtubers in a controlled environment jam on the PS5 and an official tear down video and we literally just found out about PS5 BC.

Microsoft have been much more open with the Series X, handing that thing out like candy and openly talking about it. Of course it will have the limelight.

It’s fine for Sony to not send them a Ps5, just like it’s fine for DF to not be interested in the console because of it.

It’s also fine for me to not watch DF’s videos because their opinions don’t interest me. More people should probably do the same.

Obligation no, but they're paid by us viewing their content, so a more tasteful response is warranted.
The video revealed a lot how was it uninteresting? DRAM / insulated Bluray drive / dual heat sink / SOC size / Fan size / M.2 Expansion location.

If it was uninteresting why didn't they turn down the XSX teardown I found that just as interesting as the PS5 teardown but that is just me.

Maybe your right but I've heard alot of different things about the power difference. Either the systems are extremely close or the XSX is a gen ahead. Really hard to pin what the actual difference is since there are so many theories.

Like you I think they are free to do as they please, although I think it is a dangerous path to walk when calling such a teardown in your own DF sphere as "uninteresting"; especially when the take a ways here provided so much extra info. So it just comes off as him being annoyed they didn't get the gig.

But maybe that is the real issue. Between other excellent tubers and the apparent restoration of neogaf - as the most important forum in gaming - maybe DF are struggling to keep up. The next-gen thread moves so fast, most of us here probably have to jump 50 pages every few days to stay in the mix, and IMHO the quality of info and takes makes reading neogaf, so much more important than watching DF. They sometimes bring some nice new angles on stuff, but not at the rate they probably need to hold their influential spot in game.
