It‘s all so toweringly disingenuous and transparent. Linus can’t stand Sony, because they compete with his glorious favourite company, so of course FUD falls out of his mouth, and into the ears of a grateful audience, who believe what he says because ‘echo chambers are fun’. I am not saying it does not appear planned, I think Sony's provided several days for reviewers to use the PS5 and provide worthwhile content for several waves of NDAs that will only intensify as we get closer. I think they have done a fairly good job and will attract a lot of hype and attention the way in which they are currently building.

SharePlay should get a push with the 4K recording, but we need to know more about how compressed it'll be and if it's 4K@60fps or not. Destruction Allstars needs more coverage, I anticipate that game!

They won't, Sony's isn't dumb. Also their TV's have the best processors in the busniess, and their upscaling is simply the best. Only indies would get 8K, I can also see a game like Immortals: Fenyx Rising to be able to have 8K@30fps mode.

I am not a fan of Microsoft, but it's pretty obvious they saved Sony. Sony had become complacent, arrogant and believed they didn't have to do much to keep ruling the market. They came up with all sorts of ridiculous demands from developers and ventured into hardware architectures that made everyone's life a lot harder.
Then Microsoft entered the market, and instead of sinking with their delusions of grandeur, Sony came back down to earth and adapted to their new foe.

Mind you Microsoft didn't enter the market to save them, but it's the effect it had in the end, which is good for all of us.

Ps2 they went super arrogant and made a console that was hard to develop for but people mined till they found the good stuff as they had a headstart over the competition.

PS3 Sony went full on arrogant and spent more money on the cell than Sony even had at the time... Not even kidding. On the documentary "From Bedroom to Billions" someone went on record on saying that if PS4 failed that Sony would be dead... Not just the gaming division... Sony as an entire company!

PS4 they went back to the PS1 dream team of house, cerny, layden, shuhei etc to claw back the last bit of market share MS had taken from them.

With PS5... They seem to be balancing both worlds of arrogance and ease and simplicity of development... It will probably work out well for them. But MS is hungry and seemingless with limitless money at their disposal... Gonna be a bloody battle this gen for sure.

The PS3 era when Sony thought they were good enough to sell an overpriced, poorly designed (albeit 360 also shared this issue thanks to the numerous hardware failures) console at the hardware level, that was also notoriously hard to develop for thanks to its cell architecture.

Same thing can be said for Xbox this generation at its start with the One and their “buy a 360 instead” jargon.

Arrogance is normal for most companies at some point in this industry - usually in the third console release. Ninty also has this issue with the N64.

No clue what the user is going on about with the PS2 though. Sony was by no means arrogant when developing it. It’s success however did make them arrogant when the PS3 was being developed.

Though I am sure the same mental midget fanboys will call me out and say I have no clue what I am talking about as they typically do.

By the time we get to actual 8K we'll have a much higher HDMI than 2.1, putting this on the box is almost misleading, what PS5 or the XSX can play in 8K is going to be very limited. There's no shame in saying 4K which is honest and realistic, not sure why they didn't stop there.

Yes both machines can SCALE to 8K technically, but why put this on the box?

But soon they wil be enough 8k movies on the UBR discs, so infact they are not misleading, it would be misleading if they put on the box: "games running in full 8k".

I remember the PS4 launch, Sony had the balls to say games would run better on the PS4 (as opposed to the <900p Xbox one). People were calling them out because of their "arrogance". I mean, how do you make the case for your product if you don't point out its strengths? Also, MS has been touting that 12TF, etc. and these same people still see Phil as the "cool guy" (I personally think he looks like he has something stuck in his behind, but this is beside the point)... The success of the console does not take away from the fact the machine was super hard to develop for. PS2 also had a terrible launch line up of games and were just coasting till cube and Xbox came along... Not that different to when 360 had a year head start and didn't release anything significant till PS3 and Wii approached.
