Godfall (PC) requires 12GB VRAM for 4K (max settings)

At 4K resolution using Ultra HD textures, Godfall requires tremendous memory bandwidth to run smoothly. In this intricately detailed scene, we are using 4K × 4K texture sizes and 12 GB of VRAM memory to play at 4K resolution.

"Partner showcase" lol.

Imagine having 4K x 4K textures and still looking like a slightly better Destiny. A game with these visuals that can't run at 4K with 10 GB of GDDR6x memory is simply badly optimized for that configuration, likely on purpose to promote the "partner."

I just might wait for 4080 after all.
I'll bite with 20gb vram.
AMD burned me so i'll just wait for nvidia.

Looks like we're heading to 16GB VRAM minimum very soon for the enthusiasts.

For what exactly? I realize "4K textures", but it's not like the game looks unfathomably good. I'm sure with proper optimization, this wouldn't be an issue.

It might be because it’s an indie game or AA at best.

they are partnered with AMD so i guess they said that to punch nvidia in the face.
however, i hate that the 3080 has only 10gb of vram

Looks a notch better than PS5 (high, very high?), PC (ultra?). Hard to compare though.
There are all from the video? It looks a bit blurry lol
Maybe YouTube bad compression.

PS. I opened the full picture in 4k... I really thing it is blurry for a 4k game.

those are from the 4K godfall 10 min PS5 video, all PS5. Here the ones from the trailer in OP. They look to have a bit more clarity? to the IQ due higher resolution?

True, that also can affect.
There are indeed better than the PS5 pics you posted... still blurry but a bit less than what we saw on PS5... I'm not seeing difference in the texture quality imo... it is either the resolution or post-processing effect the differences to make the PS5 a bit more blurry.

Of course like I said YT is not good to compare.

That is sad but expected.

Still, 10 GB will be more than enough once Sampler Feedback will be used. Then a 4 GB card will be enough for these textures.

In a few weeks.

Godfall runs better at max settings on RTX 3080 with 10GB of VRAM than on the RX 6800XT because we done goofed and put Raytracing in this, raytracing whose cost goes up with resolution.

Doesn't have to be 3x more powerful, the game is 30fps locked on PS5.

It is? Do you have a source for this?

Just like RE2&3 vram "limit"? You can easily exceed it, without issues. Your fooling yourself if you think ps5 is using PC's highest settings

So you can exceed your VRAM limit and it's fine and nothing happens? The 3070's 8GB should be enough too then right?

I didn't say PC highest settings. I said better textures.

Watch the video Senua Senua posted. It literally talks about vram usage vs allocation. Vram size hasn't been a limitation, more so bandwidth. So yeah, 3080 definitely will have no issues flexing the better, textures, visuals, resolution, and framerate over your previous claim.

He was talking about the discrepancy between memory allocation and actual memory usage. If it's 12GB allocated then you could be right. If it's 12GB used then you would be wrong.

Ah, 8GB VRAM already obsolete then? Some people thought it would last for a couple of years into the next gen. Such naive people.
