So it turns out, Geometry Engine is more advanced than standard DX12/RDNA2 features like Mesh shader and VRS functionality...Cerny put in the work alright.

Don't have tearing in that video, that is different lol. PS4, XB, XBX, Pro have tearing on 60fps mode, XSX had too when DF tested but this could change on recent updates.
No, screen tearing on PS5 unlike XsX. Unless they fixed it.
I read somewhere that the devs confirmed the tearing is also fixed in the Series X.

Both versions are virtually identical.

People who were hoping "PS5 even worse" are going to be disappointed.

Everybody else will just play it where they prefer.

Seriously this guy is annoying as hell in his guesses. He starts to put emphasize in Ubisoft word saying they won't to hurt the feel of someone when they said the difference will be visible only to the more expert.

He’s the one who got his feelings hurt by Ubi calling the likes of him “expert” in a dismissive way.

Delusional & Denial are one hell of a Drug.

The guy is kinda overblown, there is a reasonable argument to be made on this topic which i don't think he has made
- what general consumer priority end up being?
- how big does it stay a differential factor? we have typically seen new games take advantage of new controller features at the launch of a controller but then either it becomes less interesting for devs or just consumers get used to it.

Source? when did mesh shaders get implemented ? was it DX12 or DX12U? cause the latter is really being used at the moment.

Mine too is ordered from public.gr.if you think for one moment that the courier here in greece will bring it to you in less than 2 weeks you must be drinking something that i want to share with you please...you forgot last time what happened....
I didn't order a ps5 back then - or anything else, really - so I cannot compare.

Meh. If it comes in December, I will probably have bought miles morales, too. Maybe even Godfall.

3rd party games gonna look and play the same on both consoles, except ps5 has next gen controller and xbox players gonna be missing out some controller features. Next gen gonna be awesome and it's good thing for everyone.

Maybe a tad cleaner than the XSX build? Which was a few weeks old and should look better by now anyway

Will wait for 600% zoom images and a still of the frame rate graph from the worst part of a DF video to confirm if worth buying
Literally looks the same. It was said, that the early XSX gameplay videos came from an ealry build without v-sync activated.

Hard to Kill
It was not a serious post, more a fun jibe at the poster I was replyig to who seems asks everyone if everyone is developer in his first sentence.
Yeah I know and most people claiming to be devs here aren't either, they can have great technical knowledge but knowing how the industry works behind the curtains is a very different situation.

And those hoping for interesting comparison videos are going to be disappointed. DF 'and what about the next gen consoles? Well they are both dynamic 4k with the same graphical settings, at a locked or near to locked 60/30 (depending on game/mode)' But expanded out to 20 min videos!

It seems like PS5 will be the definitive way to play this game then.

Based on the fact that it is visually identical, but has superior immersion for control and audio.

The response has been universal. There’s no denying it, once the thing is in our hands, the talk won’t suddenly die down, it will get a lot louder as millions of people share their experience.

You’re embarrassing yourself.

And it looks just as bad on PS5, as everyone knew; this tells us what?

A polished turd is still a turd, no matter how you describe it, or package it. Codemasters should be fucking ashamed, when DiRT Rally 2.0 looks way better. This pathetic excuse of "cross-gen" shouldn't even exist, or COVID-19 or that a volcano erupted in Iceland or whatever. Codemasters dropped the ball hard, simple.

One thing I’m puzzling over is tempest in PS5 and what it means for multiplayer crossplay. Implementation in a game like Call Of Duty. Allowing you to pinpoint enemy movement with precision vs basic stereo, will it be hobbled on purpose to create competitive parity?

The texturing, lighting and internal cockpit geometry/lighting have improved massively since the last showing on console, and although VRS will be in use IMO (because it was in use IIRC on the RX 6000 series PC showing) the implementation looks like it works as intended - maybe the geometry engine or just fixing bugs.

It's only the same for those who have a resolution advantage really?

The game looks current gen through and through. But it's the first racing game with proper Dual Sense support and I would be lying if I said I didn't at least want to try it out.

The reviews for it have been quite good though.

I dismissed it because it looked a bit bland and shallow, but maybe I’ll take a look at it.

Maybe wait for a discount or PS+ or something.

mmm...

Mesh shaders: compute shaders run at CUs. No hardware block to process calculations. So less flops for rasterization.

GE: hardware block that crunches its numbers in the pipeline first stage before CUs kick their rasterization job.

Maybe UE5 tech-demo was already using GE. 16 billion triangles in 500 statues. Probably they made a fine-grained culling geometry process.

all that controller talk reminded me about six axis and ds4 touchpad, it all was so exciting...at the beginning, and we all know how it ended, so widely used...

Stuck around a long time though. There once was a controller that wasn’t a controller. It was like a camera and you had to talk to it and use gestures to connect and you were connected by a camera and the camera was connected to the system and it was connected to launch console and made it expensive and gamers didn’t connect with it and developers didn’t connect with it and then it connected to recycle bins.
