Really hoping for some cool Zelda stuff. I know BotW2 is what everyone wants but I'd love if they put some of the older games on the Switch. I can play most of them on the 3DS anyway but looking at that screen after playing my Switch in handheld mode is terrible.

Would love more info on New Pokemon Snap.

As far as new games? I played the hell out of 3DS Mario Golf at least until a severe bout of vertigo made playing a nauseating experience. Would love to get something similar to that. Format of the 3DS game just worked well especially with the online stuff where you do your round and submit your score and the everyone plays at the asme time VS mode stuff. I think they supported that game a lot longer than they originally planned to because it was so popular.

Pokemon? Do we get big Pokemon announcements at these? I feel like they might have a Pokemon Direct during the anniversary week instead if they are doing Sinnoh remakes.

Fire Emblem? Been a while since Three Houses came out. Would love to see what is next other than translating the NES game.

Kirby? I thought there was a rumor of a new Kirby game being made or something. Star Allies was an okay game but I feel like they can do better and know it so who knows.

Would be great to overhaul NSO too. Seems they have really run out of games on there for NES/SNES. Would love some GB/GBC stuff at the least with maybe more? Or just overhaul things entirely? So much untapped potential there.

I think as far as a new smash character is concerned it is likely we get either a Pokemon or Impa.

My wildest dreams never going to happen game: Mario & Luigi collection (RIP Alpha Dream). These games were fun and hilarious and mostly not tedious and I wish more people got a chance to play them. Now that Paper Mario has come out and still isn't an RPG it would be neat to get these to the Switch and for most of them find a way to get them to work on just one screen.

Why the fuck do we need Smash in an all-encompassing Direct when the damn game keeps getting more Directs than BOTW and Odyssey combined ever did is beyond me. The combined footage of all Smash Ultimate Directs + Sakurai’s in-depth character demonstrations must be approaching the length of a 100% Ubisoft open-world game playthrough by now. The thought of my gaming friends being excited for this is already preemptively souring the whole event for me, lol.

When you think about it, there could be a number of Zelda partnerships with other games. The list of games announced and coming out is probably ripe with opportunities. We could easily revisit Bayo, and Monster Hunter, but there's also Shin Megami (?), Dragon Quest Heroes, No More Heroes 3, and Meteoid all if which could be in the direct and all could have some in-game tie ins and Zelda dlc.

Then there's the VC. I'm betting a GBA/DS or N64...they're debating it, gotta be.

Oh man, the Mario Golf predictions made me realize I really want a new one. I haven't played one of those since the GameCube version but the Toad Highlands music of the 64 is still stuck in my head after over 20 years. So fucking relaxing.

Other stuff that would be cool to see include Bayonetta 3, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Pikmin, Pokemon, Wave Race, F-Zero, BotW2 and whatever Monoliths next game is.

But in all honesty, I'm just going in blank and let Nintendo surprise me. I don't care about Smash fighters or Animal Crossing, but otherwise pretty much everything is cool.

That's fair. I quite enjoyed Links Awakening and, while there wasn't too many things that I was personally interested in, I felt they had a good number of published titles with nice genre variety and the right mix between established franchises and new IPs.

Yeah - like I say on paper it was a strong and well organised release schedule, and I know many people had a great year. If they have a similar year this year in terms of numbers and spacing I'll be happy. I just hope I actually like the games, lol.

With Link's Awakening I'm normally not a framerate uber alles guy at all - I usually don't even notice drops - but I found the performance in that game unacceptably distracting again and again. So un-Nintendo-like to ship the game in that state, especially when it's a simple isometric view game. Add in the fact that I simply didn't like the toy-like artstyle or the blur shaders and that they charged $60 for a tile-for-tile remake of a game I'd bought twice and beaten 6 times... PLUS the fact that Dampe's dungeon maker was clearly just uninspired padding to justify the price and I found nothing there to like at all. A shame, because I liked Grezzo's N64 remakes a lot. I'm still looking forward to what they do next.
