What a lame show.

One of the worst Zelda games, barely anything done to it, 10 years old. And yet people will lap it up for FULL PRICE. xD

Lots of missing games there but overall it was not terrible. I'm excited to have Pyra and Mythra in Smash, Ninja Gaiden is good shit, I love Mario Golf games and I was just talking to my brother about Skyward Sword. I never finished it on the Wii and was saying I'd like to give it another go.

Skyward Sword with the same lighting and textures from the 2011 game. It's so heartbreaking.

That was bad... Very very bad.

The best big announcement they could make was a game coming in 2022. Were still in February 2021.

The best game there was the triangle strategy game.

Mario Golf is filler. If you're going to do a sports game combine tennis, golf, Soccer together for value. Selling golf on its own isn't good value anymore. They've proved with the Switch Tennis game they're not willing to support it long term with extra courses etc either.

Skyword Sword is embarrassing, it was always a horrible looking Zelda game and it doesn't look like they've improved much since. Those flat surfaces.... He looked embarassed to show it, constantly apologising for it not being a better game instead.
It was a game designed to have awesome motion controls... The new features are that it's HD with dumbed down controls? Gimme a break. This should have been included with Twilight Princess and Wind Waker for a HD trilogy.

No more heroes 3 looked overkill. I'm willing to give it a chance but it looked like colour vomit. I've never played one of those games before and they're doing an awful job explaining what it is.

Now I do have to criticize Nintendo for the lack of Zelda news, I wish they explained more on why they weren't going to show anything. I understand the virus and whatnot but he mentioned the development is going good so why no news or some screenshot of the game?

It's almost like making videogames take time.

I was expecting a Zelda Collection. IDK if was a good idea porting SS to Nintendo Switch. Some Zelda fans think Skyward Sword is the best Zelda, while others Zelda fans think BOTW is the best Zelda.

I guess the BOTW creator mention that before promoving SS. 'Please give a try'.

That direct was not good, i can't figure out how the switch is selling as well as it is. Is it because of covid lockdowns lends itself to portable play? Cause it sure as shit isnt first party nintendo games. Nintendos development pipeline is nonexistent. They can ride it out for awhile it seems, but eventually people are going to be looking some where else for you know, games.

If there's *ANY* possible silver lining to this shit show is that IMO Nintendo is holding back major release announcements or "first looks" for the BADLY NEEDED Nintendo Switch Pro.

Think I'll be packing up my Switch or selling it at this point. I'll grab the next system when/if Nintendo announces it. As for the Switch, I had my fun with it but going forward.....
I'll hold out for the revision/Pro model.

Seemed like a middling to decent direct at first. Nothing to get seriously mad about but also nothing to tickle your fanboy senses either. The games they showed were fine, but it definitely lacked something big and bold, games to get really hyped about. There was a lot I’ll definitely try out (that dodgeball game for example looks like stupid fun), just not much to get seriously hyped about, because we know about most of this already. I kept my expectations in check though, so this didn’t surprise me. They probably also hold some titles back for latter directs and (if we get one this year) e3.

Then they’ve shown Skyward Sword HD and I stand corrected. Don’t get me wrong, I love Skyward Sword and I’ll gladly play it again and I am glad they found a way to make it playable with a more classic control scheme, for those that don’t enjoy motion controls (bummer, SS’s sword fighting was super fun to me), but to get me really hyped they needed a Zelda collection. Like Wind Waker HD, Twilight Princess HD and Skyward Sword HD all in one collection would’ve been incredible. Only Skyward Sword HD is still cool, but nothing more.

Then they’ve shown Splatoon 3… surprise!! I didn’t expect that at all. And I am seriously looking forward to it. The reason why it went from middling to good in the end.

Literally exactly what My room mate said. He had a ton of fun with it, played a good amount of games and likes the first couple years of switch releases. But I think software they are losing a lot of steam. Which to me is kind of disappointing.

The direct was great but I could see folks complaining over it a mile away. The direct had tons of single A games. It lacked that super AAA game to wow and shock folks on how the switch could play this game. I honestly loved the direct and will probably end up buying 95% of the games shown but it still lacked an epic punch. It felt like an old school Sony E3 with all of these Japanese games shown.
