Looks like another small dev.team (10 people), that makes good use of assets made by others. They apparently released Rewind: Voices Of The Past for the PS4 but can not find any review for that game.

That Forest Demo made in Dreams looked better, smoother ..

No name team = PS+ and even then > replay BB or anything else. Same with Quantum Terror or Bright Memory. No bueno feeling i hef!

Man this Crysis patch s awful on the xbox consoles. They said that the XSX version is native 4k 60 fps, but its actually DRS dropping all the way to 1440p and still spending most of its time in the low 50s.

The XSS version in Performance mode was said to be a 1080p 60 fps mode but sits in the mid 40s with DRS dropping resolution. For some reason, DF isnt counting pixels when the framerate dips so we dont know how many pixels are being rendered when the framerate dips to 44 fps. It's bizarre that they would go out of their way to test random framedips by hugging walls and causing your character to go transparent in Tony Hawk just to get the framerate to dip below 120 fps, but not count what the resolution is at that point. They do the same thing here.

The PS5 comparisons will be very interesting here because a lot of the drops happen when there are alpha effects on screen or basically during combat. We saw this in Hitman and AC Valhalla in xbox series x version too but the PS5 was basically a locked 60 fps. Lower resolution in Hitman but higher in Valhalla.

Could this be due to higher clocks on the PS5? Or a bottleneck in the XSX where these extra CUs are now battling for resources in the same two shader arrays? How can a game easily run at native 4k 60 fps and then drop performance by almost 20 frames the moment you interact with foliage, light up a torch or shoot a sniper rifle? I have never seen anything like this on PC. Combat sections usually take a hit but its never that bad.

EDIT: DF is saying that the dynamic res needs to be more aggressive and go all the way down to 1080p 60 fps. Am I the only one thinking there is something seriously wrong with a GPU that can go from native 4k 60 fps to 1080p 60 fps in games? I spend a lot of times tweaking graphics settings before settling on a resolution that best holds my target framerate. Used to be 60 fps back in they day, now its a 100-120 fps, but once I set the resolution, I dont expect the framerate to literally drop performance that requires you to drop resolution by 4x when there is action on screen. I really wish DF took stuff like this a bit more seriously. There is a serious bottleneck somewhere in the xsx and they have zero desire to investigate this.

You can make all the same claims against PS5, why can't the machine handle the Division 2 where there is a large DRS scale yet PS5 struggles around 1080p? Why when we see Tony Hawk and the camera goes into the heavy transparency effect with the character the framerate tanks. There is obviously a serious bottleneck by your very own reckoning, or maybe in all these cases it's just optimization by different developers on different engines in Covid times. People made all these claims at launch about Dirt 5 and Valhalla but both are now smoother on Xbox, they would need a bigger DRS scale on both those on PS5 to match the framerate on Xbox.
We are already seeing consistently lower resolution on PS5 games, over and over again because the one bottleneck that can never be fixed is only having 36 compute units.

I don't think they launched the game.

LOL
Ubisoft just need to back PS5 version to the state before patch where XSX even with 1.04 patch can't run Valhalla as good as PS5 before patch. So much about 2TF of pure RDNA 2 difference.

This has been fairly consistent so far. Higher resolution peaks (logical with the theoretical TFLOPs peak being higher) but more more prevalent drops - sometimes fairly bad ones as well.

Hopefully, this is due to optimisation problems and not an inherent hardware bottle-neck but the consistency is a little bit weird. So far we have not really seen any true next-gen games - will be very interesting to see the first UE5 game, the next BF game or the next CoD game to see how it looks.

Yep Hitman. 1800p vs native 4k.
Avengers. 4kcb vs native 4k.
Division 2 1800p vs native 4k.
Ghost Recon. 1440p/30 vs native 4k 30 fps.
As far as I know, both Division 2 and Ghost Reacon don't have any PS5 Upgrade. They got a BC update to run better on PS5, but are still run in BC mode.

And Hitman 3 has a 60fps mode on the Pro, not present on the One X, so I don't know how useful it is for any comparison, if the developers clearly didn't optimize on any console.

Who wants Front Mission to return 👍
Only if it's turn based like front mission 3, then sign me the fuck up!

What do you think about #TheLastofUsPartII Remastered being announced on PS5 with these features? Stay tuned to the channel, because this Saturday you will have a very interesting video about this.

For the doubtful: yes, the graphic update should be free for owners of the PS4 version of the supposed case. I thought there was no need to clarify this😅

That game looks incredible on the PS4, as detailed as The Order, but much more dynamic and larger. A remastered version would immediately become one the best looking PS5 games, losing only to Demon's Souls and Miles right now.

Marvel Avengers also has an PS4 Pro checkerboard solution on PS5. Absolutelly is the same.

I see that the resolution army is waging war again. But wait! The texture filtering and frame rate forces are putting up vigorous resistance. SSD reinforcements are expected to engage , but the CU special forces may be the decisive factor. Then comes the software which nukes everything and makes this whole conversation totally irrelevant.

Death Stranding has generated over €23 million on PC

According to the latest Digital Bros (505 Games) half-year reports, Death Stranding has generated over €23 million on PC. Death Stranding came out on PC in July 2020, meaning that it took it five months in order to hit these sales.

This is your opinion, it's worth what it's worth.

I spelled the counters so many times, if you like it fine, I just want to ignore it like I did with the other services of the kind before.
And that's the beauty of the service. Some people want a good deal some do not. It's an option. 🤷🏾‍♂️ Which is the opposite of what Kinect was during the X1 launch.

Some really great points in your post, although I can't fully agree with the quoted one - Sony has increased increased the price and start releasing their exclusives on PC, because those games are simply becoming more and more unsustainable. Sure, Spider-Man, GoW4, HZD, TLoU2 etc. show impressive numbers, but at the same time there are games like TO1886, DC, Dreams, TLG, Days Gone, Death Stranding, and so on. There's a huge risk with those kind of games with no online component and/or post-launch support, even with large established userbase, where if the game itself doesn't bring the profit in the first months nothing will. I think sooner or later we will see Sony adapting to the market by releasing some MP-oriented titles as well, or at least more DLC support for their games.

You are making an assumption. You are saying the PC releases are to combat games being "unsustainable" instead of the other option, increasing profitability. Based on their current numbers, the latter would seem the more likely option.

And if those games truly were "unsustainable" how is taking less revenue via a subscription like GP going to be a solution?

Microsoft Is Cooling Servers By Pouring Boiling Liquid Over Them, Here's How It Works

The liquid inside the tanks at Microsoft's datecenter near the Columbia River in Washington is a type of fluid that is harmless to electronic equipment. It boils at 122 degrees Fahrenheit, which is 90 degrees lower than what's required to boil water.
"The boiling effect, which is generated by the work the servers are doing, carries heat away from laboring computer processors. The low-temperature boil enables the servers to operate continuously at full power without risk of failure due to overheating," Microsoft said.
The vapor that rises from the fluid rises and makes contact with a "cooled condenser" that in turn causes the vapor to become liquid. This liquid then rains down on the servers as part of a loop that keeps them cool.
According to principal hardware engineer Husam Alissa, Microsoft is the first cloud provider to operate a two-phase cooling system like this in a production environment.

Out of curiosity and asking from ignorance:

If you were planning on gaming at 1080p for the forseeable future, is there any real advantage to Xbox Series X, aside from HDD space and the disc drive?

The reason I ask is, based on my simplistic understanding, 4k has around four times the pixels of 1080p, but Series X is only 3x more powerful than Series S in terms of TFLOPS (and a slightly better cpu). Therefore, shouldn't Series S at least match Series X performance so long as it sticks to 1080p?

Well I mean Riky Riky is saying the XSX is bottlenecked by it's CUs because it isn't running every game at Native 4K 6 60fps . We all know that's not what a bottleneck is.
I know I don't understand physics so you won't find me going into a lab and start talking shit.
I have people like this at my job and I see this every single fucking day.
If you don't know what you're talking about the solution is easy and straightforward.
SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP!!!

Or better yet, ask for advice or guidance.

As long as the system performs as it should then there's no bottleneck. Hardware will always have limitations which is why a system with no bottlenecks doesn't have infinite power.

A very basic example is just assume you have a 20TF GPU. But you can't reach the GPUs potential due to a another component slowing down the flow of data.

There's plenty of videos about hardware bottlenecks and I followed them when designing my PC.

I'm no expert but luckily I have access to those that are. The internet can be a wonderful source of information.

Jeff Grub says Kojima is in talks with Microsoft. For some reason, Kojima shipped a game that sold the most GOTY awards a year and a half ago, and Sony hadnt signed him up for a new game. This guy made a game in 3 years. He wouldve been half way through his next game.

Think about this. Jim Ryan chose to fund Death Loop over a Kojima game. Fucking Death Loop.

Instead of giving PS fans a game from a guy who has been making PS exclusives since 1998. He gave us Death Loop. Death Loop.

It's no different to how a vapour chamber or heat pipes work, just on a larger scale.

Must be an organic, non-ionic refrigerant they're using. Anything water-based would make quick work of electronic internals.

^ MS might have just offered him a bigger bag. Death loop actually looks interesting so I am interested to see how both of these games will turn out

it may be a bit hyperbolic but I think Jims Job is in jeopardy.... the press around Sony is getting pretty toxic even with the lineup for this year losing a potential deal with Kojima to Microsoft will be a BIG BLOW

but thats my point. Why is Kojima still without a job a year and a half after shipping the biggest GOTY winner of 2019? Why didnt Jim Ryan lock him up then? That was around the time the Death Loop deal might have been struck so this dumbo chose Death Loop over KOjima.

These are just assuption, no one know what the hell is happening on either side. Rumours point that Kojima had a canceled Stadia project, he probably followed the chicken with the golden eggs and came out with some rotten ones. Now had to turn to Microsoft after betraying Sony trust in him. We can all make up some cool stories.

Still don't have either console at this point and I'm certainly still leaning PS5, but I got to admit Xbox is going for it. Too old for this fanboy shit. Love competition. The longer this console drought goes on for me the more I'm willing to pick up a Series X if I can get my hands on one. Not gonna pick up a new LG OLED until I get my hands on one of the new consoles.
