my bad on the title of this thread -> it's not a CG movie, it's an original Netflix series.

At which point does this movie take place after the games? I thought the white house was ruined in Resident Evil 6?

I wish it had a more interesting setting. The white house gets used so much but I guess it is considered unique or exotic for Japanese directors.

I'm still going to watch it.

I think the Whitehouse is a brilliant idea as it could loads of tunnels and passages to other parts if the surrounding area.

I wish this idea was used for resident evil 2.5

Are they using the voice actors from RE2make?

Infinite Darkness is 2006, so two years after the events of Resident Evil 4, according to Hiroyuki Kobayashi. Resident Evil Degeneration was November 2005 chronologically and Resident Evil 6 was 2013.

Looks really good anyway. Can't wait to watch it.

I still find it weird they don't try to unify the look of the characters.
With it all being digital they have this rather unique opportunity to create one big cohesive franchise with character looking the same across multiple types of media, not having to worry about the actors not being available or having to change their looks due to other projects.....and yet they still keep changing the physical appearance of all characters with each new project.

Couldn’t agree more. Looks like CGI from 1990s. Not sure why that’s the case. Tools have developed wayyyy beyond this. Almost looks rushed. Even lip sync is way off.

Maybe because of low budget studio making it, so maybe even they use second hand, outdated tools. Costantin Film, Germany.

Their previous movies were done by Sony Pictures, hope their next movie is well made.
Digital Frontier did work on the first two (SPEJ were the distributor). Marza worked on Resident Evil Vendetta.

But they're all based in Japan and the CG movies look better with every sequel. Honestly, Infinite Darkness does look a little better visually.

Dude looks like a homeless person in a suit. Horrible hair, can't even shave properly and skin all toasted.
I think I see the problem. Leon has a popular eastern hairstyle mixed with a popular western look(tan and stubble) and those two don't mesh well together. I don't think that makes him look like a bum(unless you're from a country where getting a tan means you're poor), I think that just makes his look complicated.

I love everything Leon and Claire so I'll resub for this.

I wonder if this is to set up the RE4 remake.

To me he looks like he just doesn't take care of himself, like he doesn't shower. Like I said, he can't even get a hair cut.

Compare this to Leon from Resident Evil 4 and they're completely different characters. Looks tells you a lot about a person. In one hand you have a sharp looking character and on the other you have someone they can pass as homeless.

why couldn't just use the same design? Square was able to use the same models for a 20+ year old game with FFVIII but Capcom just goes out of their way to make the characters as ugly as possible

To be fair, considering how Leon ended up in Resident Evil Vendetta(tired of it all and drinking away his worries), this look might make sense and might be the start of his current depression.

This is him in Vendetta for comparison:

Resident-Evil-Vendetta-review-Leon-and-Chris.jpeg

He might be just as jaded, if not more, than Chris was at the start of RE 6. Consider his timeline:

RE 2: Rookie cop first day on the job fought a zombie horde, multiple bio-weapons, saw multiple innocents die including seeing the woman he had feelings for potentially die and he uncovered a grand conspiracy.
(explained in RE: Degeneration): He immediately gets picked up and questioned by the government after the events of RE 2. Not given a moment's rest after RE 2 and is instead recruited and trained to work for them to help with their anti-bio weapon team, because the other option they gave him was jail.
Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles: Has to work with Krauser to hunt down bio-weapons. Krauser is unhinged and extremely difficult to cooperate with.
RE 4: After working for them a bit, get's put on a rescue mission of high importance to rescue the President's daughter. Turns out that he has to fight an entire village, castle of cultists, and island full of zombified mercenaries and then gets betrayed by Ada at the very end of that entire struggle.
(This current Netflix show takes place here)
RE 6: Whole world became a mess due to the fallout of Umbrella, has to help clean it up and also has more Ada problems
RE: Vendetta(Picture above): He's jaded from fighting everything, tired of it all, wants to quit, but agrees to help Chris anyway.

This is why I don't blame them for not putting Leon in RE 7 or RE 8 or even making this Netflix show a prequel. If one character deserves a retirement(a good ending), it's him. Chris loves fighting BOWs too much to retire. He revels in it. Leon is just done.

This is also why I don't blame them for making him look more rugged. Dude's been through shit and seen shit. He should have a thousand yard stare to add onto the look that you claim he has.

Make a poll and ask if Leon looks homeless and you'll likely find you're in the minority who think that.

Agree with you, but I just want to point out again, though the trailer doesn't allude to it, this is set two years after Resident Evil 4.

2004: Resident Evil 4
2005: Revelations, Degeneration
2006: Lost in Nightmares (Resident Evil 5 DLC), Infinite Darkness
2009: Resident Evil 5
2011: Revelations 2, Damnation
2013: Resident Evil 6
2015: Vendetta

Cool to have the RE2 Remake voice actors back. I didn't think they'd fit older versions of their characters, but based on this, I'm sold.

However, all the CGI Resident Evil movies have been shit, and I'm expecting this series to be the same. I'm still gonna watch it because I'm an idiot who loves Resident Evil more than life itself.

Well, does it sound like a ridiculous idea to think that at least the CGI RE movies are doing much more fan service than the actual bullshit that Paul W.S. Anderson did with his actual film adaptations?

Therefore, fingers crossed for director Johannes Roberts and the upcoming RE Reboot project based off of the beloved characters from the actual video game (no more Milla Jovovich and Alice and all that other bullshit) plus the setting of the 2 amazing games => RE1 and RE2.

Why don't they use the charecters from RE2 remake? And why don't they just use their Real time RE engine instead of this shitty CG.
For your first question, it's because this takes place almost a decade later than RE 2. Also we're still not sure how REmake Leon will look in the RE 4 Remake.

For your second question, I honestly don't know.

They could age them though, it's all digital a fter all.
Look at Lindsay Wagner in Death Stranding.

I think Leon looks fine, but Claire have something off. CGI looks pretty cheap from this trailer, but considering is a Netflix series I'm pretty sure is going to be shitty anyway. I'm still going to watch it, after all every Resident Evil has to looks like somehow like a B movie, Resident Evil 4 was the only exception IMHO. I still love the series also because of this.

And like someone said, they could have used RE Engine for the series. Would have been a showcase for the engine and cutscenes in Resident Evil 7/8/Re2 remake looks miles better than this.

Fan service doesn't mean anything when the movies are boring trash.

I still think the only RE movie that is somewhat decent is the first Paul WS Anderson movie, and there is almost no fan service in that one.
