Again, read what I am writing or dont bother replying. Uncharted 4 and BB are literally running at 60 fps right now on PS4 Pro consoles. A bunch of fucking hackers did this by just reducing the resolution enough to get a stable 60 fps. And guess what it did not break. Both games run just fine.

GOW and The last Guardian unpatched run at 60 fps on PS5. How? No PS5 Patch was required. No software optimization, tips or hacks were required. Animation engine did not need updating. The base disc versions literally ran at 60 fps because those disc versions had unlocked framerates and the PS5 GPU is so powerful it easily ran them at 60 fps. And yet it took them months to get a patch out for the digital version. All they had to do was add a toggle. Thats it. And The Last Guardian still hasnt been patched.

This is embarrassing. You are a 100% wrong about this and instead of reading posts you are melting down. Username fits.

It's extremely disappointing that Sony doesn't get someone to simply uncap framerates (and resolutions if dynamic). As you said, there are certain games that already run at 60 fps pretty much locked 99% of the time (TLG).

No excuse why they couldn't let the entire fanbase benefit from a simple patch on their most popular games, would generate excitement for those that haven't played them, and lead to more sales.

I dunno if they are trying to "slow trickle" the patches out or what.

Uncharted 4's multiplayer runs at 60fps, I know that, but guess what, Uncharted 4 is not TLOU2. Also, Bloodborne needed a lot more work than just lowering the resolution.

News flash, GOW and The Last Guardian are also not TLOU2. Not every game is created equal.

Like I said, you have no idea if it was a simple change or if it took a little bit more work to unlock the frame rate.

Maybe it was really easy, but once again, until an actual Naughty Dog developer details what the process was like to unlock the frame rate, we just won't know.

So unless you've worked on the game, shut your mouth about the difficulty of the process.
I kinda agree, There's also something call official and unofficial patch. The unofficial one is easy because they have no commitment, just release with a disclaimer " patch at your own risk".

Official one has alot more commitment, they need to make sure the whole game is stable after making the patch, QA needs to retest the whole game from the beginning with new patch, so it will take more time and human resource, than just to simply create a toggle button in the menu.

You know I just realized, all those games are free on PS+ for all ps5 owners. thats probably why they dont see it as a good value proposition for themselves. they stand to make no money from enhancing these games.

still the cost to patch them would be like a few weeks of a few devs at most. Seems absurd to not just go ahead and do it

None from me. I will simply ignore the game and never buy it. That's what they should have done with TLOU2. Instead they had Ellie on the cover and all the marketing material yet she wasn't even the main character for the game.
She was literally the main character for the game.. saying otherwise is nonsense. Her story, intertwined with Abby's, that's it.

Yeah, I kinda feel the same. A person can only be Kojima'd so many times before it gets old. I wouldn't have nearly minded the direction of TLOU2 if they didn't do such misleading marketing.

So basically it just FPS Boost since resolution is the same.

Isn’t this the same thing they do with Xbox? I only hear praise and how it’s the greatest thing ever when games get fps boost there, but when it’s a ps5 game with a free patch all of a sudden it’s a lot of complaining.

If you really think about it. No. It's not about her.

The entire focus was always Abby, her father, her friends, her love, she being an amazing person. Her hate for Joel, her redemption and Ellie was painted as a vengeful freak with zero depth. Joel was painted as an asshole and Tommy was a confused little teenager.

So yeah. I don't need to go any deeper into it. Ellie was bastardized to make Abby come across better.

Damn....Now that I'm home and can see it running on my monitor.....

FUCKING STUNNING....Goddamn Naughty Dog...Really the only thing I'd love to see added would be RTGI...But that's MUCH more work and definitely outside the bounds of just a simple patch. Still, as a holdover from PS4, it looks incredible.
No real time ray tracing would make tlou2 look better.
It is already all baked in with the best possible stuff. It's just not real time which I think is ok

Can't wait for the meltdowns when Abby is the main character in the third game.
Maybe it’s just me but I’d welcome that narrative. I still want to see Ellie at some point, but Abby and Levs journey to find the Fireflies would be more interesting for the larger story perspective. TLOU2 didn’t do much for the larger ”humankind vs the virus”-narrative, it was more of a microcosm. For what it is, it was good but it was also one of its weakest points IMO.

I dunno, I feel like it RTGI would, especially in regards to the flashlight/flamethrower/molotovs and to a lesser degree seeing clouds change light tones and colors throughout the world. Even that aside, real-time reflections look way better than screen space and with all the glass buildings and what not in the environment it could add a nice little touch. Hell ray-traced shadows would add even a little more depth. I'm not downplaying the visuals in ANY way though, don't mistake that. The game is still one of the best looking games around at the moment.

You give them too much credit. I bet it's an ini switch and maybe 1 dev finishing the game after work.
Until they come out and explain, this is how it is on most games and this is what I will expect

This is one of those you're better off watching on youtube rather than slogging through the handholding narrative. Better as a movie than an actual fun game.

1. Ellie was the main character in the game, she has more screen time then Abby.
2. How did you want them to market a new character and keep the story a surprise and from being spoilt? Maybe they should of shown Joel's death too? So misleading? GTFO

It’s a 130mb patch, they didn’t just switch a couple lines of code. For all we know all the game logic could’ve been tied to framerate up until now

The only character i like in TLOU franchise was Joel. Ellie is fine too i cared about her because she's Joel's treasure, but that's it, i cared about the TLOU1 and was excited for 2 because Joel and Ellie relationship and see how the characters evolve, and it ended in the worst possible way imo, one die super quick and the other become unrecognizable, by far the best segments of the game were the flashback where you play as Ellie and Joel, to me what saved this game to be the absolute garbage can was the very fun gameplay, it's just great and well crafted.

All the new characters introduced are either bland, whatever or garbage can.

Biggest problem the game has is that it's too long. I reckon you could cut at least 5hrs from the game. At least.
I agree, and i think it's first time i felt that for a game.

And oh boy all those bunch of segments where you're forced to walk, so boring.. TLOU2 has easily one of the worst pacing i even encountered in gaming.

I actually preferred the story to the first one. I dont really become attached to fictional characters so Im able to enjoy it for what it is. Definitely replaying this at 60, its a really long game but I think I've had enough of a break to go through again.

That's maybe for pc games. Pc games are always run at unlock framerates.
You're underestimating too much for coding in console games, especially Playstation games. If you have watch, Insomniac Spider-Man GDC, devs had fixed frame time budget and they coded within that frame budget. If they just unlock and reduce that budget the engine might not work and will introduce lots of bugs, that means retesting need to be done again, QA have to be passed before send to public, so yeah its alot of work than you think it is.

Not quite; when Microsoft add FPS Boost to a title, or they introduce BC Improvements like higher resolution, there's no code changes required and the developer doesn't have to get involved. It's at a platform level. When a developer does act, they're patching their own game to use the console as a native application, and so we typically see 4k60FPS because of the power differential. Here, the game's developer patched their own game... and they just raised the frame cap to 60FPS. It's still great, but it's really not unreasonable to have expected a 4k60FPS frame target, given the length of time that Naughty Dog's had to work on this.

With that said, when I saw a 7 page thread on this patch, I expected Naughty Dog had dropped something really special. I should've known we'd have devolved into "ma'am memes" instead of discussing the actual technical changes.

When Xbox games get BC boosted, it can even go farther than res, frames and load times. Some games even get AF boosts.

Have you played the game? Did you see all the flashbacks pre-body building? Abby is a woman. It’s not abnormal to be ultra-fit. She takes it doggy styled? Have you ever had sex in your life?
Now I know she's not confirmed to be a trans yet. But we did find out about Ellie being a lesbian in the expansion that came years after.

Let's not draw any conclusions over one cutscenes where she was a young girl. She could have had a surgery before that. Her father was a doc and all.
