So, how quiet is *your* ps5/xsx?

i guess mine has a bit of whine you hear if you really pay attention. no big issue to make it worth the hassle to get a new one and also definitely not as much as the fucking jet engine on my Ps4

My cat loves it. Every time I turn it on he notices and runs in from the other room. So he is hearing something for sure.

Then we play the disc game for about 10 minutes almost every day. I hit eject and pop a disc out, then he meows and freaks out and starts pawing at it until he pushes the disc back in.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
PS5 is quiet, i play on my monitor so you should know how close between me and my PS5.
disk drive a bit loud but since the last update it improved alot

XSX silent, only the whirr of the fan if you put your ear right up to it.

PS5 mostly quiet, can hear fan if I get close and while playing Returnal I've started noticing the fan more at distance but it's not annoying.

Don't pass gaas, it is your Destiny!
Xbox just some light fan noise
Ps5 same fann noise + high pitch coil whine

4 series consoles are all completely silent.
PS5 drive is louder and I can hear a buzzing noise in quiet scenes when under load, could be coil whine but it doesn't really bother me.

XSX and for me it's silent, even if I am standing next to it. I super glad that it's like this, because X1X was audible pretty much all the time. Not much, but it was...

The drive in my PS5 can be pretty loud. I'm not hearing coil whine anymore or maybe it's because I'm playing with headphones almost exclusively now. The fan is very silent.

My PS5 DE is very quiet and basically inaudible unless I’m less than I’m less than 20-30 cm apart from it. I’ve vacuumed it lightly twice using the dust catchers since launch day.

I could hear my PS5 DE when I bought it at launch, but now it’s considerably more quiet. It’s kinda wierd because my room temperature is probably several degrees higher now when it’s summer. Might be OS updates. It was never ”loud” but i could hear the fan much more clearly at launch than now.

ps5 owner.

The only noise my ps5 makes is when I turn it on. BEEEP!

After that, nothing
Yeah, i was actually a little annoyed they didn’t make it possible to turn that off in system settings. But then again, It’s supposedly an indicator of hardware functionality and it is a pretty nice nostalgic and consistent touch with the systems.

PS5: Rattling, loud noise. Tried to do a fix myself, didn't work. Sounds like shit. About what you would expect from a Sony product.
XSX: Whisper quiet. No issues at all.

My PS5 only makes a noise when downloading from a disk, which tends to be when trying a new physical game for the first time - other than that, lovely and quiet.

I have had a Series X for a couple of days and other than the startup intro screen sound that shit me up because my TV volume was pretty high, I have not noticed any noise from the unit. I have no physical games, so I can’t compare in that respect.

Ultimately, both are incredibly quiet machines.

Xbox series X is silent, like dead silent.

My PS5 is what I consider whisper quiet, I can't hear it from the Sofa unless it is spinning a disk. If I stand like a metre from it I can hear the coil whine in games like demons souls 60 FPS but i cant hear it from a distance so I'm happy!

For Xbox consoles it's really not an issue since last gen. Got my XSX just last weekend and it's as quiet as my Xbox One X's.

Unless the disc is spinning for an install or a short check when I start up a game my PS5 is completely silent.

My Xbox serie x is very quiet. And my ps5 disc version only spin at the start and after that it’s also very quiet.

XSX is virtually silent, just a super gentle fan hum if I put my ear literally on it but a foot or two away, complete perfect silence.

PS5 coil whine is very annoying and fan ticks and clicks at certain speeds. Not jet engine PS4 bad but certainly not good. Sony engineering really dropped the ball

Fan makers haven't defeated the laws of physics yet so I can clearly hear both XSX and PS5 but both are very quiet. PS5 is a little louder and you can hear the fan spin up in game. My X1X was in the same territory noise wise.

Neither are even remotely comparable to my original PS4 which sounded like a power tool at times.

XSX is quiet, which is to be expected.

PS5 is quieter than my PS4 which is surprising, although there is coil whine. It's acceptable for a Sony console as it's not all that loud.

Series X is really silent, i did have a weird clicking noise of my fan spinning like 1 week ago though but i moved it and its stopped so i have no idea what it was or if it will come back. PS5 is mainly used by my brother but ive only ever heard the disc spinning for like 5-10 seconds apart from that both consoles are great.

My PS5 makes a constant low-frequency sound (intensifies when under load), which is annoying if I play with the low volume. It should be noted, that PS5 is pretty close to me (not your standard sofa+TV set-up). I wish it could be quieter. It is quieter than my PS4 Pro tho, but it's not a hard achievement tbh.
