Ugh, had such high hopes for this too, guess we're still never going to get that modern L4D sequel.

I watched time to time and don't looks L4D clone at all. More like a modern FPS with zombies.

The problem with those kind of devs are they insecurity. When they launch Evolve, every single time/trailer/preview they need to remind everyone that was 'for the same team behind L4D', and they're doing the same here again.
Do you think the marketing team is the same as the development team?

Ironically, I'm hype for this game because of the developers =)
Same. I adored L4D and L4D2, and this is about as close as we'll get to 3. I'm glad it exists. I played a bit of the beta, don't wanna play too much to the point where I'll get burn out on release, but I dig what I played!

Fucking card system (which is always bullshit and usually a way to add MTX to the game to sell packs of random cards), feels more like CoD than L4D.

Haven't we known about the card system for a while now? And I'm pretty sure you can opt out of using cards if you want.

Also, what does CoD feel like compared to L4D?

This reaction feels so bizarre to me considering how similar the games look like they play.

Yeaaaaah, to me it honestly feels more like L4D than COD. The only thing that I think is very COD-like is ADS existing. That's really it. The movement itself feels slightly slower than L4D/L4D2, but it's not bad. The card system also doesn't really feel game breaking to me either. But, to each their own I guess?

idk how you opt out other than drafting an empty deck and then going from there? The card stuff isn't that bad. MAKING the deck is annoying because I don't care to think about that stuff, but the drawing aspect inbetween rounds is fine by me. That's why I like games like Slay The Spire more than Hearthstone. Procedural choices to go with the flow is better to me than having to create some crafted meta thing.

It's still similar to L4D other than you can aim down sights and there are weapon attachments basically. And sprint and stamina... There's also ammo types for the different weapons that you have to source on the map. It's not just some unanimous ammo pool you find here and there. There's no flashlight you can control yourself, it turns on for you when you get into very dark or specific areas.

I actually REALLY like the Corruption cards. They add a nice twist every time you play.

For me, what is mostly souring the experience is the difficulty. Easy is too easy. There's hardly any special infected and it's a breeze with resources. "Medium" is fucking hard with plenty of special infected and the big arm dude will just wreck your team. It's not like L4D either where you can basically only have one of a kind spawned at any given moment. You can have back to back to back big arm guys coming at you, screwing you over. I can't even imagine what the hardest difficulty is like.

Additionally, the campaign levels are ok, but there's not the narrative tie in like what L4D has. No intro cutscene, no little "story" progression as you carry through. There's some NPC chatter over the radio and such, but it's not the same. You're not going from iconic set piece or region to another inbetween campaign levels. It's just like get from here to the safe house and COMPLETE. The sections to trigger a hoarde to move on aren't flashy or exhilarating, at least not in this first campaign thing. Nothing like the maze and alarm in L4D2's new orleans level.

It runs well on PC, controls well, graphics and sound design is pretty solid. It just loses some points from its presentation and UI I think. It doesn't have quite the same charm. I still find myself enjoying it, and hopefully it improves by launch and the campaigns are interesting and PVP Campaign is announced...

I don't like the looks of all that card upgrade crap, if I'm honest. I'm happy it'll be on GP day 1 so I can at least try it out rather than put money down on a possible disappointment.

These all sound like HORRIBLE game ruining choices.

How many years have people wanted a L4D3 now, and this is what they come up with? Did... did they learn nothing from Evolve?

I went back to l4d2 recently and it looks and plays awfully now even in 4k on th Xbox.

This looks and plays a lot better, as you would expect, my main complaint is when you aim/zoom with a weapon, it's so sensitive, I'll have to mess around with the settings I think, I only played a very briefly though and then went bed as I was knackered.

Does it ever evolve into something more than endless clown car spawns with people spraying and praying SMG's and Assault Rifles into hordes of zombies?

We played it with a full group yesterday and I kind of love it (even more so than L4D)! The card system is a really fun addition and everything down from the weapon customisation/upgrade to the map design and visual readability is just fantastic. The only thing I'm not too keen on are the weapon sounds (which is something I rarely have issue with in games) and the current performance issues (lots of stutter when jump crouching or freezes during certain events such as explosions or what not).

Definitely going to buy this now.

Reductive much? Sheesh.

Try playing this on higher difficulties with that mentality. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

I have a code for PS from the official site, account created etc but the Playstation store says that my code isn't for this region. Is Germany excluded? I tried a few codes, always the same. Would love to try but the store doesn't take my codes.

Is the open beta for all consoles and pc on the 12th?
Yeah, no code will be required then. However it's insanely easy to get one now. If you enable drops and just sit on a Twitch streamer playing it you'll get one.

I mean, did L4D1/2? It's about survival and making it through.

This game looks really meh. Turtlerock needs Valve to come in and finish this game and cut all of this obvious MTX-ready shit out of the game. It looks like it has an extreme lack of polish and no where near the same awesome atmosphere as L4D2. It is also waaaay too overpriced for a game that requires coop to have fun.

The Back 4 Blood beta is here, and with it comes the public's first taste of Versus Mode! Join the Alexes on New Gameplay Today as they tell of their time in developer Turtle Rock Studios' PVP mode and why fans of Left 4 Dead should be excited!

Jesus shit is not explained/intuitive. I went through a whole match with no idea how to heal. Could I heal? Everyone else seemed to. If so, how the fuck would I go about doing that?

Bad first impression.

Intuitively from other games on PS5 I was trying the d-pad buttons but that didnt seem to do anything...bad bad bad.

Edit: Ok so after playing again there's cache boxes at the start and in between levels and you can buy a med kit from those. There's also med boxes on walls at certain points you can use to refill health. It's still just not a very fun game so far imo because the gunplay just isn't really great but I'll play more before deciding for sure.

The Back 4 Blood Beta is here for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. This gameplay is from the last level of the first act titled, "The Devils Return: The Crossing". The goal of this mission is to cross over a ship, plant explosives on it, and survive until the explosives go off. We'll be showing two perspectives: one of a bomb planter and the other of a turret defender, so you can see the level played out in both ways.

"Our team has been made aware of offensive language that can be heard when playing the game. This was not recorded or ever intended to be part of our gameplay. The audio is a result of two different Ridden growls that are playing simultaneously and when heard together sound like that word. We are working diligently to fix this issue, which should be completed either in time for the Beta, or when the game launches," the statement reads.

Cant wait for the open beta. I really liked the early access. Also this beta build is 2 months old so they probably fixed a lot of stuff already.

game is using an outdated version of dlss with lots of ghosting... changing to the newer version disables the option completely due to anti-cheat. Anyone find a way around this?

why do devs refuse to use newer versions of dlss when its literally dragging and dropping a single driver file for much better image quality?

Played a while on Xbox better then I thought it would be. Looking forward to the full release on gamepass.

Im looking forward to playing more of this tonite. It’s a little different than L4D, but I was enjoying it a lot by the end of the early beta.
