Can any fans of L4D articulate why this game isn't living up to expectations? It looks like the same game to me.
Do you think the marketing team is the same as the development team?I watched time to time and don't looks L4D clone at all. More like a modern FPS with zombies.
The problem with those kind of devs are they insecurity. When they launch Evolve, every single time/trailer/preview they need to remind everyone that was 'for the same team behind L4D', and they're doing the same here again.
Fucking card system (which is always bullshit and usually a way to add MTX to the game to sell packs of random cards), feels more like CoD than L4D.
Same. I adored L4D and L4D2, and this is about as close as we'll get to 3. I'm glad it exists. I played a bit of the beta, don't wanna play too much to the point where I'll get burn out on release, but I dig what I played!Ironically, I'm hype for this game because of the developers =)

Yeaaaaah, to me it honestly feels more like L4D than COD. The only thing that I think is very COD-like is ADS existing. That's really it. The movement itself feels slightly slower than L4D/L4D2, but it's not bad. The card system also doesn't really feel game breaking to me either. But, to each their own I guess?Haven't we known about the card system for a while now? And I'm pretty sure you can opt out of using cards if you want.
Also, what does CoD feel like compared to L4D?
This reaction feels so bizarre to me considering how similar the games look like they play.
idk how you opt out other than drafting an empty deck and then going from there? The card stuff isn't that bad. MAKING the deck is annoying because I don't care to think about that stuff, but the drawing aspect inbetween rounds is fine by me. That's why I like games like Slay The Spire more than Hearthstone. Procedural choices to go with the flow is better to me than having to create some crafted meta thing.Haven't we known about the card system for a while now? These all sound like HORRIBLE game ruining choices.idk how you opt out other than drafting an empty deck and then going from there? The card stuff isn't that bad. It's still similar to L4D other than you can aim down sights and there are weapon attachments basically. And sprint and stamina... There's also ammo types for the different weapons that you have to source on the map. It's not just some unanimous ammo pool you find here and there. There's no flashlight you can control yourself, it turns on for you when you get into very dark or specific areas.
I actually REALLY like the Corruption cards. They add a nice twist every time you play.
For me, what is mostly souring the experience is the difficulty. Easy is too easy. There's hardly any special infected and it's a breeze with resources. "Medium" is fucking hard with plenty of special infected and the big arm dude will just wreck your team. It's not like L4D either where you can basically only have one of a kind spawned at any given moment. You can have back to back to back big arm guys coming at you, screwing you over. I can't even imagine what the hardest difficulty is like.
Additionally, the campaign levels are ok, but there's not the narrative tie in like what L4D has. No intro cutscene, no little "story" progression as you carry through. There's some NPC chatter over the radio and such, but it's not the same. You're not going from iconic set piece or region to another inbetween campaign levels. It's just like get from here to the safe house and COMPLETE. The sections to trigger a hoarde to move on aren't flashy or exhilarating, at least not in this first campaign thing. Nothing like the maze and alarm in L4D2's new orleans level.
It runs well on PC, controls well, graphics and sound design is pretty solid. It just loses some points from its presentation and UI I think. It doesn't have quite the same charm. I still find myself enjoying it, and hopefully it improves by launch and the campaigns are interesting and PVP Campaign is announced...
Game is goodThese all sound like HORRIBLE game ruining choices.
How many years have people wanted a L4D3 now, and this is what they come up with? Did... did they learn nothing from Evolve?

lol, yup.
Reductive much? Sheesh.Does it ever evolve into something more than endless clown car spawns with people spraying and praying SMG's and Assault Rifles into hordes of zombies?

Yeah, no code will be required then. However it's insanely easy to get one now. If you enable drops and just sit on a Twitch streamer playing it you'll get one.Is the open beta for all consoles and pc on the 12th?
I mean, did L4D1/2? It's about survival and making it through.Does it ever evolve into something more than endless clown car spawns with people spraying and praying SMG's and Assault Rifles into hordes of zombies?
What's wrong with mindless shooting?
Do you think the marketing team is the same as the development team?
Some prefer media that engages their minds. The word "mindless" is by nature objectively bad.
Off topic, are you an OG Team Xbox guy? I used to lurk there.
i got into the beta thanks to a buddy,
looking at that card system made me vomit a little in my mouth.

The Back 4 Blood beta is here, and with it comes the public's first taste of Versus Mode! Join the Alexes on New Gameplay Today as they tell of their time in developer Turtle Rock Studios' PVP mode and why fans of Left 4 Dead should be excited!
The Back 4 Blood Beta is here for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. This gameplay is from the last level of the first act titled, "The Devils Return: The Crossing". The goal of this mission is to cross over a ship, plant explosives on it, and survive until the explosives go off. We'll be showing two perspectives: one of a bomb planter and the other of a turret defender, so you can see the level played out in both ways.
They're already openly talking about DLC so it seems they learned nothing after the Evolve implosion. Hire a fucking PR person Turtlerock, it'll pay for itself.
