A lot of you guys, and people in general, trigger me.

From the huge array of the new unknown actors that struggle to act properly even in the fucking trailer, to the extreme overproduction and the absurd overdramatic tones (Neo blowing up the dojo with kung fu power), to the complete changed tone from the original Matrix trilogy, to how the story sounds like it's written by a dolphin, how you can possibly like this, blows my mind.

Okay, this says a lot:

All the rumours and leaks about this film being heavily meta are obviously true. From what I've read, Ressurections is essentially Wes Craven's New Nightmare, but for The Matrix. That suits me fine.

I think a lot of people are going to absolutely hate it, but I think it's fucking great. The last thing I want is just another sequel to Revolutions. How incredibly boring.

This movie sounds absolutely bat shit, and I'm totally here for that.
Same. I'd rather they go for something a bit more out there rather than a typical sequel.

Yeah not feeling this trailer at all, not sure what it is. Looks kinda like a knockoff, cashgrab type movie. Will wait for user reviews before watching.

The reason why it feels like "a knock off", is the cameras they are using, its why breaking bad looks different to inglorious bastards, its pretty amazing how much of an effect cameras used can have on the audiences impression of the content, its is kind of uncanny, something you cant really quantify.

I really hope,"neo has forgotten and all the matrix stuff was just his delusions" is infact and illusion by the machines and better cameras/lighting will be used out of the matrix and different virtual realities.
The original matrix film had a green colue hue while in the matrix and out of the matrix it was more natural/blue, maybe they are taking that concept a step further or it could the realitybof shooting with a small budget then the original 3 movies.

Indeed. The world has changed since the last matrix movies. A.i is a common topic in the news and social Sphere. Technology has advanced, and people are far more aware of simulation and A.i concepts and fictions. The original matrix films seem a bit obselete in terms of technology and imagination on the topic of A.i and simulations.

What does forced even mean? One of the worst buzz word criticisms on the internet these days.
It's trying to replicate the same emotion/feeling but instead it's just another product coming out of the consumption conveyer belt.

The original movies trailer feels like some Aeon Flux shit. New movie trailer just looks like generic anime from 2021. But I'll still give it a go.

Feels like its going to be the matrix force awakens kind of sequel.

Honestly not digging new actors. u are used towards a certain cast and u want them back to see what happens after. The new people, the training all feels like its the same shit with a new jacket but with current lens of the world ( force awakens )

I also hoped for a bit less action in the movie in general and a bit more horror / darker take on it. And a more out of the matrix then inside of it.

I already feel like after watching the trailer that i saw the movie before.

That's not what he's talking about.

If you want an idea of what this movie is, it's kind of like Wes Craven's New Nightmare which was a super meta take on the original Nightmare on Elm Street movies.

It sounds like shit to be honest. If the orig trilogy are just films, or videogames, and didnt really happen, then its silly nonsense for me.
Plus i doubt its true anyway as the screen shot of Neo hooked up in the tank with his burnt eyes shows that Revolutions happened.

Well... I don‘t feel anything. As someone who thinks Matrix is a documentary (in a metaphorical sense, of course) and for whom the first movie is among the top 10 if not in the top 3 movies ever created I just don’t feel anything. I thought I would be jumping like a little kid but this just seems like a boring recreation of the first movie for a modern audience with some of the best actors gone.

I smiled when I saw the pills but that's about as excited I can get. The first one was a great ride, but the franchise never endeared itself past that.

Sub_Level

wants to fuck an Asian grill.
Just seems like a greatest hits with maybe some meta commentary. Remember follow the white rabbit? Remember the dojo training? Remember taking the red pill & the liquid mirror? REMEMBER?!

I'll still give it a chance. Maybe they'll succeed in reiterating the first movie & we'll get some kind of MGS2 recontextualization. But so far meh.

My theory, if the 'videogame' leaks are true, is that the orig trilogy DID happen, and Neo was plugged back into the Matrix at the end of Revolutions. Anyway inside the Matrix Neo has been having visions and memories of what happened in the orig trilogy, but he cant understand what these visions are. Anyway he devlops Matrix videogames using his visions as a base. The games are super successful, films are made from them etc. What he doesnt realize is his visions are actually memories, and his visions are true. On comes Morpheus to explain reality to him, Neo isnt crazy and his visions are memories of what reality really is,, and of what happened in the past, blah blah, etc, etc, and everyhting begins.

Not that fan of all the nods to the first one and imo, a story with new characters would be my favorite approach for the franchise. But considering their choice to go with Neo's story I have to say I liked the trailer enough.

Maybe this time Lana could bring back that idea for Switch, a trans characters with different appearance on both worlds.

Is not as bad as I though. And Trinity doesn't look that bad either, she still a fine woman.

Might give a chance in the hope its good.

Trailer managed to smack hype levels back down to about 2. I mean, it can't disappoint now, right?

And what was with the trailer song choice?

Oh well, back to the original

If you've seen the first movie it would make sense immediately. I mean, the title of the song has a direct reference to the first Matrix...

I'm cautiously optimistic. The knockoff Laurence Fishburne is offputting.

yo this is the best we can do 20 years after the original? that looks so cheap and bad

james cameron please save us

I hate Hollywood. I cannot watch a trailer anymore without thinking is this really the movie or is it going to be bait and switch and Neo will be side character in his own movie?

Looks ok, so far. I like NPH but somehow he does not belong into the Matrix universe for me.

But, I will wait for reviews, just to be save.

FWIW there's already rumors that
Neo is going to be a villain.

They like it because it's not Marvel and are computer nerds on a forum.

I want the music to set the tone of the film and get me hyped for the biggest sci fi action movie in years, I don't need an obscure call back to 22 years ago.

And yes, I did see it at the movies in 99 and have watched it countless times since

My reply was in response to his comments about how a direct sequal to revolutions would not be good.
However I think a meta Wes Craven's New Nightmare style matrix film has potential.
I think it will be more complecated then that, i dont think it will turn out that Thomas Anderson has mental issues and the first 3 films were all in his head.
Its going to be curious how they deal with including the original matrix footage, how will they explain it, my guess is that its a creation from the machines, another illusion, form of control.
These kind of movies can go in all kinds of directions like existenz, inception, in the mouth of madness etc

Look I liked the original and remember as a late teenager going to see it and thinking "how fucking cool is this!"

But, and this is a big one, I feel like this move is going to be very WOKE.
tilda-swinton-woke.gif

It's going to have those core elements from the original of course but the Wachowski Sister is definitely going to be playing off of the current social climate in this one.

Just give us another ANIMATRIX anthology and let other writers and directors bring fresh ideas to and established franchise.
