Halo needs a good, well written campaign with amazing scripted moments and player/physics driven excitement, not just another barren open world directionless fetch quest full of bullet sponges.

Play another game if you want scripted moments. Keep em out of Halo. Full on sandbox is what I expect from Halo.

Grapple hooks, vehicles etc are perfect recipe for mayhem.

God forbid bosses in games having a health bars :messenger_winking:

It's not that no boss is allowed to have a health-bar, it's just that this was never done in Halo before and IMHO doesn't fit into Halo.
I also think that this RPG-Style Upgrade System doesn't fit Halo. But god forbid people have different opinions :messenger_winking:

I can't say I'm impressed after watching again in the 4k mode. The game looks best when they are indoors. The world looks kinda basic after seeing ghost of tsushima or last of us 2 scenery at times.

Then again this could just be how the halo world is suppose to look like but seriously what person decide that they would have only one type of tree in that area. You go from super shiny and detailed vehicles and buildings to that terrible forest look.

I need to rewatch it a third time in slow motion to get a better idea of what the game looks like in detail a la digital foundry style.

They did upgrade the visuals of the bad guy.

Watched the 4K trailer and I was happy for what I've seen. The scope is massive and textures, details, etc are more than fine considering that. Gameplay looks very funny, I'm excited.

Edited : the indoor levels look impressive, very very happy.

I'm guessing the Xbox One version will look much...different.

Halo (as far as I know) has never had bosses though. Not sure how I feel about that.
Yeah. Because Didact fight was a QTE. And Warden had plenty of health, you just didn't saw it on screen. But he was a bulletsponge...

I was one of the few that actually enjoyed the 2020 gameplay trailer because the combat/gameplay looked excellent.

My notion is slightly different from yours. I think if you peel off the layers of concerned whiners that didn't want the game to succeed you'd see that quite possibly the most of the actual potential customers were, like you; fully capable to enjoy the gameplay reveal at the same time legitimately criticizing some of the technical aspect.

I'm really liking the structure. Remember, they've already stated that it's not an open world game. It has levels but with a much larger scope.
The structure is more like Crysis, which is a very, very good choice!

I'm quite bummed tho that they removed that 'ground pound. Would have loved to grapple up in the air and ground pound.

it was good. Honestly Halo 3 and Halo Reach had some great campaigns. Halo 4 can hang with them
Only gripe about Halo 3 is they killed of some of my favorite characters. It being 4 player co-op and the having some of the best campaign missions in the trilogy made up for it though.

Don’t understand how anyone can say that’s graphically unimpressive.
Yes, overall it looks great. I was going to cherrypick a few things but then it occurred to me that even the best looking games have some bits that look bad. TLOU2 for example skin shader in daylight can look bad.

Overall infinite looks polished, the rocky mountain geometry looks improved and the game world looks really populated with effects, geometry and enemies.

I'm not familiar with either of those enemies. I stopped playing Halo after Reach. I guess those were 343's additions.

Halo 2 had two boss fights: The Prophet of Regret and Tartarus. Plus Halo 3 had 343 Guilty Spark as a boss fight. The Tartarus boss fight could have used a health bar honestly.

This … is your take? 😂🤦
What? I can't be disappointed with a franchise that I grew up with being turned into something I dislike?

Or I can only say "YAAS LOOKS INCREBIDLE"?

It's not open world. It has the structure of the original Halo: CE on steroids. More like Crysis.
Ok, that's better. Thank you.

Still didn't like a lot of the things I saw. I'll wait for more videos.

Every Brute in Halo is a literal bulletsponge. The issue isn't with having bulletsponges.
It's how it feels playing it. Without a healthbar on top, you can imagine this fucking meat-tank to just literally soak in all those bullets, but once you see a health bar, at least for me, the immersion is gone.
Healthbars also make you play the game differently. Without a healthbar, you may know they are spongy, but you never know how close or far you are to killing them. Is it worth to shoot those few bullets in your magazine into this ape-shit charging brute and maybe deliver the final blow? Or is it wiser to just retreat for a sec, reload, find a better spot and engange again? With a healthbar it removes the risk completely. You always know exactly how much HP he has and makes you play differently because there is no risk anymore. You know if you can kill him while he's charging you because you see his life. That "fight or flight" feeling is completely gone as you constantly have all the information you need.

I am sure the AI companion will be fine, but she seems somewhat Ditzy for an AI. Well dressed without a solid thought in her pretty little computer head.

Play another game if you want scripted moments.

And then you realise some of Halos best moments are scripted.

Silent cartographer beach landing
The Flood introduction
Warthog run

Orbital MAC external combat
Halo 2 scarab chase
Gas giant lab cable cutting
Underwater transporters
Gondala fights

Bugger intro in Halo 3
The entire ARK installation on earth
etc
etc etc

Alright, I guess I just have a bad memory. LOL. I played Halo 1 and 2 when they released and started up with Halo again with the MCC on XSX, starting with Halo 3. I do remember playing Halo 1 in college and thinking it was odd that there weren't any boss battles. So hopefully I'm at least right on that point. LOL

Just because that's all you've known in Halo doesn't mean the unscripted moments in Infinite won't be as impactful. Think of all the crazy shit we've seen in Botw and none of those moments were scripted.

That campaign looks like a fucking dream come true!!! So many options, those RPGish upgrade elements, those mini-boss encounters, the scale, calling in vehicle drops, this looks like a Halo campaign that fully achieves the promise of the first game. Seems like you can approach situations in all types of interesting ways. And those surprise attacks possibilities.

The game looks fucking fantastic!! Shit, why does it have to be so far away!

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
Game looks pretty gewd, not some next gen classic or anything but it looks well made and fun. Can't wait for the Steam release, day and date yeah!
