lol I tweeted them but i have no followers on twitter. Need gaffers to retweet or keep posting those gifs separately.

DF is in their ear constantly. We need to raise a stink or we will never get slider for it.
DF didn't like the hero lighting and thought it looked weird, both of them look good to me

Some REALLY nice footage here (and i'm not necessarely talking about the redhead who speak first), also some explanations about the board game.

I think we all need to revalue how good this game really looks...

I can't put it higher than #1 that I already put since the footage started to pop.
It is the best looking game this generation... let's see for how much time :D

Here is another comparison. She is in the sun towards the end and the hero lighting is still flat.

The hero lighting made her pop more and made her look CG.
When she gets to the ledge the sun hits her and it looks appropriate.

I'll make a true judgement when I play it tomorrow night. Digital Foundry didn't mention anything about it looking worse. Just toned down. It makes sense to not always glow even in the shadows

The feature is there. Here is a comparison with PS4 just to make it very apparent. It also seems the intensity is dynamic as well as you can see the intensity change from when Aloy is outside and when she goes into the building the intensity goes high and then dynamically lowers.

@On Demand , see how Aloy in the PS5 version is well lit in the dark room even though technically she shouldn't be.
That looks a bit weird.

I'm crying right now lol this game is so damn beautiful. It's funny how the guy said Horizon Forbidden West made him walk up to his TV it looks so good he had to make sure he was seeing what he was seeing 😂

From what I can tell she starts glowing when a light source hits her from behind. likely from the entrance.

That's what I've been thinking

I did the same thing with Ratchet

That game felt really smooth at 30 fps and a lot more crisp at 4K

the 60fps version of Horizon looks like the PS4 Pro version but at double the framerate. The 30 fps version is so much sharper in the foliage, lighting, and particle effects. 60 fps version looks blurrier

I am not a fidelity or bust guy either - depends on the game. The benefit to 4K is not worth it for things like Uncharted collection or Cyberpunk.

I actually think the best way to play Ratchet is the regular 60fps mode. Still looks super crisp, just missing some RT reflections that 99% of people would never distinguish from SSR anyway. I think the only place in the entire game you miss them a bit is the space ship, and that's only because they obviously designed that to be made of glass so they could show the damn technique off.

I think I'll probably go fidelity for Horizon, though. Seems like it looks significantly better. They really seem to have messed the performance mode up, because even 1440p should be enough to look perfectly nice and sharp.

Playing Ratchet in RT performance on an 85" mini led monster and it looks crisp. If I were to do an a/b test- the regular mode may look sharper? Who knows. Point being we don't play games like that. If what you are seeing is blowing your mind - what more can one want.

I tied the 40fps in 120 mode. Found the motion to be a downgrade over 60 and not my preference.

I think it's the combo of DRS and checkerboarding that don't work well together. Remember Avengers? Funny, it had the same 1800p checkerboarding as Horizon and DRS and the image quality sucked compared to the fidelity mode.

I'm holding out a little hope that Horizon won't be as bad. Nx gamer said that the loss in image quality is 'noticeable but worth it'. I don't trust that though because my eyes are seeing a big drop in clarity.

How much does that tv cost? Are you really playing an 85 micro led?

Can't wait to see what these first party teams will be capable of a when they've left the PS4 behind, they're doing incredible work already with the cross generation titles so games custom built for the current generation hardware should really push things forwards. It's good to see that there's quite a visible upgrade between the generations, it;s not that I want the PS4 to look terrible or anything like that but there really should be a difference if they're putting the time in. Let's not forget that the PS4 will be a decade old next year and even when it launched much of the hardware was already pretty tame but it's still somehow managing to play games like this.
Of course I'm glad that I'll be playing the PS5 version but I'm still blown away by what they've done with the PS4 version.

Image what they'd do if the game was next gen only. Or rather what the game would look like
Guess we'll have to wait a few years to find out
