Fable might have been scaled down due to engine issues and lack of wrpg expertise. Could release later than expected.

I will personally not buy an Xbox until they show they can consistently produce great software.

With that said, worrying about this is dumb. Wait until we see it to judge what is going on. These pre reports/rumors to generate clicks and create arguments between sycophants are pointless.

If Fable sucks, trust me you'll know when it comes time.

Colt is an XB ambassador. Both of these guys have been spreading misinformation for years and on a consistent basis.

XB having a management problem is a conversation I'm willing to have, but taking these guys seriously is farcial. Just take a peek and some of their insider/clickbait headlines.

Microsoft could do with some good news.

It's time the fruits of their labor show *something*. They've made all the right moves but god damn why are there always caveats and bad rumors/news?

I genuinely think the management and producers at Xbox aren’t all that great. One or two missteps is par for the course but as an organisation they just haven’t got their shit together with internal studios.
Turn 10 seem to be the only one who has consistently hit their mark as all the others have had issues over the years. If these rumours are true then Playground can be added to the list of struggles.

On the other hand, when developers come out and praise Sony’s pipeline and producers I think more people need to pay attention to what a great job they do on the whole. Look at the games they got out for launch and during a pandemic.

“lack of wrpg expertise”?

If they aren't in contact with Bethesda for help and support, their management deserve every failure that comes their way. Imagine not hitting up your own family of developers to share knowledge on WRPG. Borderline criminal.

Thats sad if those rumors are true. As a fan of the original Fable I aways wished they could replicate a bit the first experience.

so... no gameplay, no nothing at the next Xbox presentation?
I said that before in another thread, but I don't think we will see Fable gameplay at this Xbox and Bethesda presentation (or any other this year).
And again, I hope Playground nails it. I never automatically assumed that, just because they do the best racing game on the market currently, they should be handled an RPG. But that also doesn't mean they're incapable either. Guerrilla worked for a long time with Killzone, and then they nailed with Horizon; so they're somewhat a good example (although is debatable if they were ever good at making FPS games to begin with).

Publisher of the year 2021 with the highest ever average meta score. How much concistancy are you looking for?

Imagine owning some of the best Western RPG studios in the entire industry and you assign one of your most beloved RPG franchises to a racing studio.

Bethesda soft is too small and obsidian is making other game?

Some actual consistency would be a good thing to hope for.

That usually means year after year. Look at 2011 - 2021 and you will get the idea.

Going from Publisher of the Year in 2021 to not having a single game the following year isn't what I would call consistency.
Exactly.

Xbox really need to nail Fable, Avowed and Perfect Dark. There can be no excuses. They all need to be stellar games.

We've been in this situation for years. The longer MS takes to deliver its games, the greater the expectation.

And the chances of those expectations not being met grow in the same way.

People will be disappointed with certain games because it has become a vicious cycle. At the very least, with each disappointment, more and more people are growing more skeptical of Microsoft's promises.

ASA from GameDaily which Gaz is a main on knows a good amount of people. Asa KNOWS his shit, so if GAZ was talking to one of ASA's sources then at least there is some hear behind it could be BS. But with that interview someone posted about them having difficulty and it taking longer than expected. Sorry, but where there is smoke there's fire.

Gaz's source could just be total BS, but things we've heard is that Studio is having trouble with Fable, mainly adapting systems from Forza to a WRPG.

Overated studio that only pulls out copy pasted racing games struggles to make an rpg

:surprised pikachu face:
Overated studio? Lol
They are the best racing game developer in the world bar none. Polyphony, Turn 10, Codemasters, all can't hold a flame to them.
And as for cut and paste, their games continue to get rave reviews from everyone other than Sony fanboys.

"scaled down" and "issue" in the same sentence which is about a game developed by Playground immediately sound like a false alarm. If there is anyone who will 100% deliver is Playground Games.

A smaller scale could make for a better game, lots of games have too much bloat or are overambitious. Fable has never been a good series but it's always had the potential to be, so take all the time needed to make this one right.

This again? They won Publisher of the year based on like 3 games. One which was Flight Simulator and the other was Psychonauts 2 which they happened to be the publisher of because they bought double fine after they kickstarted the game.
5 games actually.

How many of those 5 games released by this time last year? Or do you think they have got nothing coming for the rest of the year?

DEEPLY CONCERNING.

But seriously, anything announced with a CGI trailer is AT LEAST 2 years away, but given their track record, it's usually more like 4+ years away, and still massively downscaled.

They are the best racing game devellopers for people that aren't that interested in car games. FH2 was one of my favorites games, I bought an xbox one and a wheel for this game. But the serie hasn't really evolved, FH5 is basically FH2.4. I struggle to keep playing the game more and more with each entry because I find the games shallow and too focused on eye candy rather than enjoyable racing. I would have much rather had the next FM than FH5.

You know this to be facts ? Lol 😂 Jesus wtf you’re just talking out your ass. Given playgrounds record? They’ve been damn near Microsoft’s most consistent studio along with coalition.

How about this....

Before the official F1 game, the core Dev team had worked on the following, Hostile Waters, Cold Winter, Brian Lara Cricket, 50 Cent-Blood On The Sand.....all clearly the same game, right?

To assume that development staff are incapable of branching out and working in different genres is pretty ignorant.

The people that get hired for positions on a Dev team will have portfolios and code examples showing all sorts of different styles, ideas and routines.

We knew the 2021 slate of games far earlier than this point last year. As of now, there is nothing slated for 2022. That could change at the showcase, but I'm not expecting anything significant and it is still a massive drop from 2021 unless Phil Spencer pulls a rabbit out of his hat. Don't get me wrong. I hope he does.
