Street Fighter 6 is releasing in 2023

cool character designs, shitty aesthetic, It's indistinguishable from every 3d fighter now.
I completely disagree, there's a lot of unique SF elements in there like Ryu's denjin hadouken showing the opponents bones.

And all the art/ink after the parrys and focus attack like moves isn't in any other fighting game series.

Cammy looks really generic and bad. Fuck me.

Has to yes, SF5 already went past SF3, and the girl in the trailer fighting chun-li has to be her student/daughter li-fen, who was a small child in SF3.
Hopefully Sean, Ibuki, Elena, Makoto, and Dudley get added in some way, but the leaked roster doesn’t look bad.
It feels like they either don't know what to do with Sean, and/or they have retconned some of his story from SF3. He looked younger in 5 than 3 and also Ken didn't even know who he was when he met him, yet it took place afterwards? Also, as Maximillian has mentioned in that video, Luke seems to have taken a little of SF3 Sean's moveset, which is worrying. Hopefully there's a storyline in this where Hobo Ken trains him to be the Sean we were meant to see.

5 takes place before 3. 6 is the first SF to take place after 3.

Odd there's not a single SF3 rep in the starting roster though. Sean would have been a sensible choice.

That's special effects, it's sprinklings on top of a generic core. SF used to be completely distinct on every level, now you could port in Tekken characters and shit some tired ink effects out and nobody would be able to tell. The fact that they still use that particular effect speaks to an aesthetic identity crisis, the origin is from games that sought the illustrative "painted" look, now its tacked into this hyper realistic shit and feels completely random yet they had to do it or it would have 0 identity.

Every time they say they're putting mechanics in the game to CHANGE THE GAME DRASTICALLY, but in reality only top level players really get to use most of those mechanics so the game feels almost identical to the last one.

This does look pretty nice though. It's interesting they've stuck with this cartoonish design instead of trying something totally different. They really reached the ceiling for this design style in 5, it's really weird that this doesn't look much better.

Well, Space Runaway Space Runaway and R Reizo Ryuu ,

one of you must be wrong. You know what that means.

Edit:
thicc_girls_are_teh_best thicc_girls_are_teh_best the sad news is, drive by posters won't see your Cammy post and will still come in complaining about a default outfit suddenly being changed after 30 years.
Well, it is a terrible design for Cammy regardless if you can change the outfit or not. Definitely unimaginative for sure. But if you want the OG outfit in motion.

Goddamn, Ken look like a fucking hobo out here. Times must be tough for the Masters household.

I'll never understand people who complain about things like this, but then again I'm not scared of change. And if people were so desperate (thirsty or upset), they could always get the PC version and download all revealing character mods they like.

That online part reminded me of the “fight club ps3” rumour where there was a city full of players and you could challenge someone to a fight and the others could watch it within the game.

I wonder how many read that rumour back in the day ?

Not sure what to think of this but i ain't gonna use it, thats for sure.

No use for me; also I don't know why they didn't just take CvsS2's approach and map Specials to the right analog stick? That seems like the easiest solution and wouldn't create any issues with doing normals and unique normals.

The Assisted Combos look interesting; I wonder if they'll be like in Persona 4 Arena though where pro players could use the easy mode combos as starters and extensions for real combos and setups.

March Climber March Climber Maybe this new stuff being leaked can be added to the OP?

Love the designs, but bothered by the fact that the original 8 world warriors are still here. At least 4 slots wasted there. Guile was supposed to be a family man already since Nash is fkn dead for good.

Maybe, maybe not, but to give the design some more credit it's actually based on one of her outfits from an animated series, with added jacket.

Intentional or not it's a nice callback.
Don't even think it's a callback. It's a leather outfit, she's wearing in SF2 V. In SF6, it's a yoga pants, a sports bra and Billy Kane's jacket. I remember SFII V being very meh and non canon.

I will get them credit though, they did get her classic outfit even though it might be behind a paywall.

Is SNK the only legacy 2d fighting company that didn't cuck out on their designs?

I meant less the material of the clothing and more of the look they're going for. I understand what you mean though. Again, it could have been an unintentional callback or one of their character designers snuck in a very, very similar design there as an easter egg. It makes me wonder if they'll have alternate outfits of Ryu and Ken similar to their outfits in 2V.

I think they're still too scared to let go of legacy characters due to 3's initial backlash. The best we can hope for is that SF7 will be the game where they take that chance.

Even though there'll definitely be more tweaks and changes, Drive Impact seems too powerful for just one bar. I'm probably misunderstanding it but it reads like it's an unblockable attack (if the opponent has no drive meter).
I agree, haven't read this more carefully and I was thinking this was basically just a focus attack, but sure reads to be more more powerful than that

Damn I take back what I said about Cammy being ruined with a new design. A++ 10/10 game.

Now show Juri, let's go Capcom.

Eh, I don't think that happening considering how forgotten SFII V was.

And regards to a SF game going to have a total new roster with no returning is a huge risk that Capcom isn't going to make, they're playing safe and tbh it's smartest thing to do.

Watching the Cammy video again. Haven't realize from artworks that Cammy hair is short, but why not.

The super moves looks so insane in that game, Capcom are actually putting the big money without holding back on this, that's what we love to see.

I'm not one of those lowtier subhuman woke, but it's kinda cool Cammy has a costume where she wears pants, i love her classic too but the new also looks cool, and it's always great to have characters wearing different very type of outfits, an aspect i always love in fighting games. Historically Namco were the ones that were very good at those designs aspects, Capcom has catch up very well slowly but surely since SF4.

Oh yeah, def noticed that too. I'd love MoTW Terry to walk up to SFVI Ken and just go "WTF dude!? That's MY jacket!!' 🤣

Also here's some shots from a leaked video of Cammy vs. Cammy. You can see her in her normal outfit and....it's all still there 😁🤤. Caught it on Idom's stream:

That new Cammy costume is truly terrible imo, no not cuz pants ( altho I find the obsession some people have with her having to wear pants to be fucking annoying, hate that '' cover up woman '' shit ).
But because it just looks like it could belong to anyone really, it's an issue I have with a lot of the redesigns the only exception that comes to mind really is Juri.
Juri's new design still looks specifically like Juri it still has her identity going for it.
The others look like generic street clothes or gym clothes that any other character could wear, there's nothing particularly unique about them that sets them apart.

Chun Li's new default honestly looks like she's a new Chinese martial arts character from Virtua Fighter or something, when I look at it I don't see Chun Li and it's the same here with Cammy and many others.

Edit: That said her model looks great, but I think she looks significantly better in her original costume it's disappointing how bland her new default is.
And I do think defaults matter because they're the default state and should make them stand out more from each other.
But they all kinda just blends in together for me.

Art and animations are excellent and it'll definitely be more polished by the time it comes out. And really interesting mechanics mentioned on the SF6 site - can't wait to get hands on.

They also mention simple control inputs - which I'll never use. But from the site, you get less control over the characters if you use the simple control inputs.

This sucks, I just want a special move button not to love half the moveset.
