The footage is hit and miss.

I'll wait for reviews, but 1000+ planets has me interested. Maybe worthy of a Series S at least.

The trailer looked cool and promising, unfortunately not cool and promising enough. Also, it's still from Bethesda and since Fallout 3 I can't do much with their games. It also seems to suffer from the usual diseases, poor performance, bad hit feedback and the world/worlds will probably be pretty empty except for a few point of interests.
The game alone doesn't justify a new console purchase for me.

So I answered No.

1. I would never buy hardware for one game. XBO was the first Xbox I didn’t buy and I always said to myself that I would buy one if there was circa 10 games I wanted to play that I couldn’t play elsewhere. This just didn’t happen only got to about 3 or 4, the same general rule applies for Series X where I’m currently at zero.

2. Starfield is far from proven prospect at this time. The gameplay demo did look fairly decent but it’s just a teaser, we have no idea how it plays yet.

3. Starfield is not exclusive to Xbox and I have a reasonably decent PC.

I’m really looking forward to seeing more of this game, as a Fallout/Elder Scrolls fan that has been able to look beyond Bethesda jank and enjoy those games I think it remains a a great prospect.

It amazes me the people who say things like 'it looked trash', 'looked last gen', 'I wouldn't touch it', 'I wasn't impressed' etc. Seriously? I know everything is subjective, but there's no way anyone could genuinely call what was shown as anything other than impressive (obvs we don't know how it'll play at this stage).
I've been gaming for over 40 years, and can say objectively that the Starfield footage looked really good - to say otherwise just doesn't make sense.

Seriously though I won't buy it even if on PS5, and won't download it if it was included on PS+.

There needed to be a "I already own an Xbox Series X" option as I had to select no as I bought a Series X because I wanted to put my feet up downstairs as I played on gamepass on PC prior.

I mean... if you going to buy anything for Starfield it would be a PC right? PC versions of Bethesda games due the modding community vs the pre approved trickle Bethesda allow you to install on console is night and day.

Won't get a Thomas the tank engine space ship day 1 on console that's for sure.

Didn't vote, as I have 'gaming' (sorta) laptop.
First of all, I am convinced the game will be a big hit. People love their space sims, and this one is actually coming out and you don't need to buy ship JPEGs for it. Even if it's like NMS with more story and bespoke elements, it's a great idea for general public.
For me personally no voiced protag and 1000 planets dampen my enthusiasm quite a bit. I wish some open worls focused on depth instead of breadth, though space one is probably not the best place for that. I don't play NMS, Elite Dangerous and other stuff like that.

I will try it out on my laptop, judging by graphics, it should be able to run it. Hopefully I'll get into it and there will be still an intriguing story, interesting characters, and "bespoke" locations in additions to 1000 planets which there is no way can have a lot of unique content. I am glad there are alien monsters at least. Graphics look fine by me, it's a huge game, and I think the visuals are rather appealing. Would like just a bit more hutzpah (like some amazing From-like space creature).

I am also very cheap so I would need a whole bunch of games that appeal to me, like Fable. Better wait few years.

Apropos of nothing, I wish they would make remake of Skyrim. Or one of Fables.

For me, it's a massive no.

I am a great fan of fallout games but i think they went about the wrong way of showing the reveal.

In the gun section, for example, this game is futuristic, please show us some laser weaponry vs mobs, drones, gadgets etc not the usual boring machine-gun fire and shotgun stuff. (Don't fucking lead with machine-gun fire in your first showing of a sci-fi game)

The perk system was rushed over, why not concentrate on that, those are the systems that I really wanted to see. Fall-out perks are some of the most fun things in their games, to just rush over it felt so strange to me as it's a gigantic part of the game.

The idea of having thousands of planets is also boring to me, handcraft a dozen or so and give us something unique, something fantastic to explore. ( i really hate randomly generated stuff in games.(that statement alone about all the planets really put me of the game)

The space combat, i mean wtf was that, that to me seemed really under par.

The shipbuilding is cool, but it reminded me of the map building from the Doom game,

When i heard that we have thousands of planets it reminded me of the 32 times the level of detail or some over-spinny PR shit that was meant to impress me.

I really think that there is massive potential in this game, but i believe the only way this game is going to get that, will be by the mod support it receives from the fans.

Not a PS-only gamer as I do have Switch (been collecting dust for a year) and a decent rig that’s yet to be updated…

As far as Starfield, I’ll wait for the reviews lol. I really do want a reason to pick up an SX next year.

Fallout 76 played horribly on my PS4 tho so hopefully Bethesda optimizes well.

Not the best survey, the warriors wouldn't get a Xbox if it could print money and attract hot chicks. Surey should contain Pc + Streaming.
They don't need a Xbox If they already have a gaming PC. Don't know where this stupid idea comes from that If you own a Playstation you can't own a gaming rig.🤦‍♂️🤫

Seriously people, learn to read. The question is to PlayStation ONLY gamers. If you have a PC you're not a PlayStation only gamer. :messenger_tears_of_joy:
So this question is for the 5 people here that only have a playstation & thats it? And browse this place from their phones? :| Really?
Who df doesn't have a PC in 2022? I have 4 of them collected over the years without even trying, 2 of which can likely max this pos out. :|

a) lol
This is making you unnecessarily angry. Don't get mad at me just because you don't know the difference between a pc and a console.

Just take the L. It's okay. You thought you were smart accusing me of voting in the poll to bump up numbers, right? Well, think again. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

A lot of people have only PlayStation console and PC that is not for gaming and would not run any modern games. If you have both PlayStation and PC that's capable of running modern games at console or higher settings, I'm sorry but you're not a PlayStation only gamer.

Why would anyone with a PC that's specced out to current gen or higher buy Series X only to play Starfield since Starfield is also coming to PC (and PC Game Pass) day one?

The idea of the poll was clear but apparently reading is hard.

According to that logic I'm officially a PlayStation only gamer because I have a PS5 and PC with 3080.

Sure you do. Are you the op by the way? Why should you get to dictate how we answer just because you're mad with the results? Do yourself a favor and try and research what a pc is.

pretty much every xbox thread gets laughed at, all the new xbox games show from sunday all get laughing emojis from the same known sony fanboys.
Oh well? I'm sure this happens the other way around too. If it happens more from the sony fans it's just because there are more of them. Which tends to happen when one is more popular than the other.

I don’t buy that critique. It looks miles better than the last Bethesda game I played, Fallout 4 and that’s what I’m comparing it to in my head. Plus it looks better than any other similarly scaled game that came out last gen, which should be the yardstick.

Bethesda have made some of my favourite games I played on PlayStation consoles and now they’re Xbox exclusive I’ll gladly get something like the series s to play Bethesda games on. I’ll be happy to play Skyrim/Fallout in space.

Honestly, as someone who prefers gaming on PlayStation (but does have a PC), Starfield was the only game that I thought would hurt because of its exclusivity.

Boy was I wrong lol.

That showing was so poor. I'm totally fine with it not being on PlayStation. Nothing of value was lost. So, no, I won't be buying an Xbox because of Starfied, and I'm not even interested in downloading it on my PC around launch. Maybe Avowed and Hellblade 2 can change that? We will see.

Instead, I'll use that money for PS VR 2. And In H1 2023, I'll be enjoying PS VR 2 games.
we feel you. we all know how much you would have loved to buy an Xbox and play an Xbox exclusive.

Well if I can afford to write it, I have been reading neogaf for a long time and for better or worse the some old nicknames are known and their preferences are also known, read certain comments as if they were surprised that that game will not push them to buy an Xbox or that the trailer was a disappointment is at least fun to watch.

lol sure, as if you know me so well.

I was literally looking at Series S and Series X prices hours before the Xbox conference. My order was contingent on the quality of the show. And I said, they didn't give me anything or wow me, so I'm not buying their console anymore, at least for the exclusive games that appeared on this show.

Xbox series x is alot easier to buy now and I was thinking about just pulling the trigger and going for it. Gamepass being the main selling point but with the xbox show being so close, I thought I'll wait and see first.

After seeing the show, it kind of made the decision for me that I can wait probably another year and let the library fill out with good games more. Will starfield be the game that makes me buy one? I don't know yet. For now, I'm happy with a xbox one x and a PS5.

I answered "Nah", but not specifically because of this game's showing - which I am interested in enough to get a £1 gamepass sub on PC when it eventually releases so long as the EULA isn't written by Bethesda still wanting to take your first born should you break the EULA /s .

My reason for not buying a series X for this game, or any other is because of the console DRM. I don't like the effect gamepass is going to have on the industry and I don't do always-online DRM - even for GT, which I've boycotted GT7 on PS - so am certainly not going to get a console where it is so integrated into everything.

Huh?

This has historically been true, especially for consoles. That's why the likes of Halo, Zelda, and Horizon were/are called system sellers.

You say the darndest things, Log...
Horizon? Lol. No. Halo and Zelda sure. But it's funny you can only list games that first released decades ago. It shows you how rare it is that a single game will sell a console to a large amount of people

And you don’t think the small amount of people voting “yes” aren’t significantly comprised of the Xbox owning ambassadors and hangers on…you know people who don’t a have an active PS console at all?

Ah you’re too savvy for that I’m sure.

I'm sure that's the case, yes. But these people are not leaving idiotic posts in the thread, so there's nothing to laugh at.

The only reason I will even try Starfield it's because it is in Game Pass, don't get me wrong, it is an amazing concept, but I was burned by Bethesda before, from what I've seen so far I'm still not impressed, the game still lives in the world of promises to me, but I'll give it a go when the time come, to respond to the topic, Nah, I wouldn't buy an Xbox to play it, probably not even buy it if it was 60 bucks.

You're talking out of your ass, of course Horizon is a system seller. As is Spider-man, God of War, TLOU 1&2, Ghost of Tsushima, etc. None of these games existed decades ago as you falsely claimed.

That has literally been the conventional business model for consoles in the past. It's still the case to a large extent for Nintendo and Sony, Microsoft not so much.

Don't pass gaas, it is your Destiny!
after the massive casual adoption of Skyrim and fallout into pop culture I couldn’t imagine not having access to Skyrim in space on my console of choice. Now would I buy a series x/s? Prob not, I’d do what I did. Sell both and get a PC we’re everything will land eventually.
