I agree $70 is steep considering it's a remake and not a brand new title, yes the graphics are all new but when it comes to story and the core experience it's the same. That being said anyone who thought they were going to make it play like TLOU2 which they NEVER said they were going to do jumped to conclusions based on some very vague comments during the reveal and it's their own fault that they are disappointed. Gamers need to stop acting like 5 year old children on message boards and social media, we talk crap about devs being whiney jerks (rightfully so) but it's pretty obvious that gamers themselves are often just as bad even if it's in different ways.Yet the majority disagrees reading most opinions on here. This is what they promised "modernized gameplay" "enhanced exploration" First thing that comes to mind is Part 2 gameplay and changes in level design. I mean why wouldn't you put the work into your 70$ product to make the gameplay and experience better. Yet here we are. Most people disappointment here is not enough gameplay changes and level design which would at least justify the price. Purest who would outrage because "Why did you change too much ND!!" Can go play the PS4 remaster.
I'm struggling to understand how people say £70 for this game is bad, yet Demons Soul's remake at £70 is acceptable. Both are PS3 games with basically the assets reworked.
Is it just perceived worse for TLOU because it got a remaster last gen, or is there something I'm overlooking?
TLOU already had a PS4 remaster so the gap is not as large. And the TLOU remaster is not like Demon souls, who changed a lot from the PS3 version(new music among others things). It would be like the dark souls 1 on PS3 that got a PS4 remastered edition to have a PS5 version. Personaly that is enough for a day one purchase but I understand that for others it is not worth it. Demon Souls is also a launch title and showcase the PS5 power when the TLOU remastered seem to be just a TLOU remade with the TLOU2 engine. Just hope that it will as fun as I remembered it. Better to have TLOU remastered than no game only made to PS5 on september.I'm struggling to understand how people say £70 for this game is bad, yet Demons Soul's remake at £70 is acceptable. Yeah, I don't think PS4's TLOU would've performed well if it was ported to PC. This Remaster/Remake has a much better shot at being successful.
As far as updating the mechanics go, I'm assuming they didn't want to make the gameplay better or the same as TLOU 2 because it would be a very similar gameplay experience. If TLOU 2 Director's Cut version is in fact being released on PC, then they're going to need both games to feel different.
So after watching the new trailer, I think they did in fact modernize the gameplay while sticking to some of the core gameplay mechanics.

The question is what would be the difference between the PS5 version we will be getting with a ps4 version of it. This is why I compared it to the dark souls 1 remastered. I believe that a good remaster of TLOU could have been made on PS4. I don't know about other people but for me it will be a day one purchase anyway. If you still do not see why some people can be unhappy about that compare it to GTA 5, who had a PS3, PS4 and now a PS5 upgrade coming( or already there I honestly forgot)TLOU Remastered should have nothing to do with how much the Remake on PS5 has upgraded the original game. It has 0 to do with how much effort went in to remaking the game on PS5. I just think it's messed with people's perception.
TLOU on PS5 just like Demon's Souls is mostly a massive graphical overhaul to bring a PS3 game up to PS5 standards.
I guess we won't know the full story unless we seen the budgets for both games which one is more worthy of the £70 if we are strictly talking effort and budget converted to final game price. I do think people are being hypocritical regarding this TLOU Remake.
It's a remake, if anything other than just the graphics are changed, it becomes a remake. This isn't that hard to figure out, TLOU 2014 is an example of a remaster. No, I’m not. Demons soul would be a remake. I’m saying TLOU is a remaster, not a remake. Pretty simple right?
Demon's Souls is one of the best looking PS5 games out there and it looks completely different from its 2009 counterpart.I don't think you know what a remake is.
Are you calling Demon's Souls a remaster on PS5? Lmao
Are the levels different? The fighting? Etc?
Didn't remember any controversy back in 2020 about this one

TLOU part 1 could literally be done on the PS4. Honestly it some ways I prefer the original's artstyle in spots especially Tess. It's in a weird limbo between a typical upres remaster and a remake.
At any rate, its unimpressive for its $70 tag.
Lol @ "massive graphical overhaul" for TLOU part1 over the OG.
Demon's Souls PS5 yes, it was massive graphical overhaul over a low budget 2009 game and it's one of the best looking PS5 games by far still despite being a launch title.
TLOU part 1 can literally be done on a PS4. It is not turning heads whatsoever, that's why there is so much push back and meme comparisons over the deceptive marketing. "Night and Day" difference. Lol.
Perspective. This was called a remaster and was sold for $40 / £35.
Didn't they say the existing textures were "enhanced"?
Who's they? If you watch the video it's clear after the first 5 seconds of game footage that it was completely rebuild.
Speak for your god damn self. We're more impressed with the Demon's Souls remake because the original looks like shit. That doesn't mean the overhaul for Part 1 somehow took less work than Demon Souls.
I'll shit on Naughty Dog for this all day long, but get your argument in order first. They've completely rebuilt Tess's model. That's a remake, not a fucking upres.
Speak for your god damn self.
I'm more impressed by Demons Souls because it's one of the top 3 best looking games out right now. It's a PS5 game through and through.
TLOU Part 1 is a PS4 game artificially stuck exclusively to PS5 to give it a prestige it does not garner on its own.
It looks flat out shit in some of the footage we saw and garners absolutely no "night and day" difference when juxtaposed with OG footage. More like... sunrise vs mid morning at best.
It's not an upres remaster, i said that, but it definitely is not impressive enough to be called a remake the way Shadow of The Colossus and Demon's Souls are.
Activision.
"Call of Duty®4: Modern Warfare®, is back, remastered in true high-definition, featuring enhanced textures, rendering, high-dynamic range lighting, and much more to bring a new generation experience to fans."

Enhanced can mean a lot of things. Every texture is completely new. Watch the footage. Or if you're too lazy to do that, here are some shots for your viewing pleasure:
I watched the video, dude. You don't need to get snarky. I just asked a question. If those are rebuild then fine.
I'll accept that. I don't know why I didn't consider it. That's a substantial portion of the game cut yet still asking full price. Thank you for the insight.I keep popping up in these threads just to keep light on the fact that this 70 dollar version does not include Factions. A big part of the original games release and overall TLOU experience. It’s an absolute crime and travesty it’s not included in this “Remake”.
So you watched the video and still asked that question?
true 70€ is too much, but why noone complains Nintendos 100 years old ports, and they havent sometimes even upped res? but ppl pay 60€ pop per game and isnt complainingStill NO at this 70€ illegal cashgrab scam, they are masturbating.
We have full game sold 40€ or 30€ build from ground (HELLO STRAY or KENA) and we have this shitfest barely remastered at 70€.
Seriously, where's the uproar when Nintendo makes an old game 1080p or the definitive edition and charges $60 for it (and it still hasn't gone down in price) loltrue 70€ is too much, but why noone complains Nintendos 100 years old ports, and they havent sometimes even upped res? but ppl pay 60€ pop per game and isnt complaining

My intent is not to sway you or anyone from a purchase. Just personally… irked about it all. More so, if you (or anyone) play the remake and are excited for more, one still has to have the old version installed to play Factions. (Which I still play time to time). I could at least except if they said MP or some version of MP is planned by this date…which contains part of the old Factions content, but they don’t. They just release a picture, and no other info…They don’t explain if it’s F2P, or paid MP,.. just nothing.I'll accept that. I don't know why I didn't consider it. That's a substantial portion of the game cut yet still asking full price. Thank you for the insight.
I tried googling and couldnt find the source this came from.
It looks like a very tech industry kind of slide to show. But maybe not and it's a just marketing guy talking general marketing and advertising.

still 70 pop in all currency what ive understood, its too much but for 1st time players its fine i think =)So, anyone know how much this re-built from the ground up remake is gonna cost?
Let's just say that you have to re-built the price from the ground up with 70 units of 1 dollar banknote. So, anyone know how much this re-built from the ground up remake is gonna cost?

It... doesn't really look anything special. ESPECIALLY in terms of VFX where Returnal smashes it. The modeling and lighting are very well done but otherwise it looks kind of flatMost games this gen will not ever reach this you do know that right?
Looks better than any From game ever made by a gen or 2. Dont hear people bitching about that incompetent company.
