Xenoblade Chronicles 3 |OT| To Guide The Dead is My Lot

Only interested in hearing from people who absolutely hated Xenoblade 2:

Is this game actually good? Is the story for grown adults or is it more anime schlock?

As someone who initially hated xenoblade 2 and have grown to quite like it overall (would never defend it because it really tried my patience) I think you should give 3 a shot if you liked 1 or X. A lot closer to the quality of xenoblade 1 so far. Very impressed with it so far, it addresses alot of the problems with 2

The music is so good, I think this will be the first game soundtrack I import.. honestly I think I'd pay up to $100 to get a physical copy of the music off playasia when/if it's available. Right now if I'm doing dishes or something I have it playing off YouTube.

My wife just got a copy of the game and started playing now too. Now we can geek-out talking at each other, her about the relationships and me about the stats and classes.

The game is good and addictive. The pacing is a bit horrid and overall it makes the switch look weak with loading and bland textures. Speculation: some of the loading is due to them using a lot of compression to keep the game on a small cart.

Whatever. I need to sneak in another hour before work.

Procyon Studio (Mitsuda's studio) released Xenoblade 2 OST, so most likely if they release the OST, it'll via Procyon Studio, not Nintendo.

Hopefully by the time of my second playthrough when the story expansion releases I can play it on the Switch 2 using 1440p DLSS.

Hmmm I'm stuck on hard difficulty chapter 3
Zeon's quest boss mobius B. I've been trying to fight every unique boss while I'm still at the same level as they are and it's been going great, especially since I met a few heroes now who are giving me longer chain attacks.

But this guy is too much. He freezes all my healers with a debuff so they can't heal, he resists every debuff except an occasional break/topple/daze, and he picks up my dudes and just throws them so they die lol.

The closest I've gotten to killing him is down to 1/4 health after 2 good chain attacks and an interlink 3 that let me spam break topple. I just don't see me beating this guy while I'm same level. There's no debuff cancelling ability like XC2 has to stop him freezing my healers, at least not yet, and I tried using an evasion art when he did the thing where he picks you up and throws you and I still got grabbed. (Maybe my timing was off on that one.) I read somewhere that burst after daze cancels a bosses awakening buff, I think that would probably be enough to make the difference and beat him but I don't know how far into the game I'd have to go to get the burst ability.

Tried a variety of tactics and the only thing I can think of that I'm doing wrong is playing as one character too much. I like to play as an attacker a lot, only occasionally switching to other characters to make sure they're doing what I want and switching back.

Gotta go to work so I'll have a think about whether I should turn it down to normal for this one boss or if I should go and level up a little and find some new abilities that might help. I'm leaning towards the later because the tough bosses on hard have been generally really challenging but I've always been able to find a way to squeak out a win up until this ridiculous dude.

Anyone mind telling me without any other spoilers how far in the game you'd have to be to get burst ability?

How does Interlink levels work? I am too lazy to read the tutorials on it. I get level 3 randomly and spam the level 3 Interlink moves for break and topple, but it never breaks or topples the enemies. I feel like I am doing something wrong. Or I use it on bosses that just resist everything.

I only seem to get it by not using interlink in a really long battle and it builds up over time. If I interlink at level 1 or 2, it goes back to zero afterwards

I got Burst in chapter 3, from another hero. I think it's from Teach (Colony Gamma Commander). You can start his quest by meeting Kyrie near the Vandham event

You can increase interlink level by doing fusion arts. Press ZR + X/Y/B to activate it. You can use fusion arts when the master arts (the left side) is ready. There are no indicator how many you need to do to increase the interlink level, so just use fusion arts as many as possible. You can also issue command to focus using fusion arts for the party. I think boss have higher resist for break.

I got Burst in chapter 3, from another hero.
Thx. I actually did a bit more work on it and I did manage to figure out some more things. Like when he freezes my healers I can switch to them and mash all the buttons to escape their chains. But I think after work I'll and go there and get burst since I should be able to do that and stay a similar level to this baaaaws who has been wrecking me

Should I be switching classes as soon as one hits level 10? The game is recommending that I swap since it's maxed out already.

If you want to max all class, you better change it ASAP. But if you like the class, just stay

You should change classes often because you want to get useful master arts and master skills.

Do the tutorials ever stop? About ten hours in now, just learned the gem crafting, and I'm kinda tired of being told how to put one foot in front of another.

Just finish chapter 4. holy shit.
Extremely salty that Ethel die, but it is such a badass way.. a case of too cool, too hot and too powerful to live? But at the end of the chapter forshadow her possible return in a... younger body? Is Colony 11 a play on Bleach Squad 11 where everyone is a battle manaic? I kind of wish they made Iota Colony a mandatory mission instead of the side missioin. Alexandria is such a sassy and seems to be the only commander who smell the war is a complete BS. Now the end of chapter, am I smelling some kind of Xenosaga 3 eternal occurance. Eunie semi remember how she die.... mayhap strong memory are retained? The consul are kind of like Testment who are pucked from history who are power but die. N is obveriously an adult from Noah and the silver conmsul is Mio. Queen seems to the same as Melia from Xenoblade 1... but how it is possible.... Did Shulk fuck up being a god of the new world and Kausa fuck up fusing the 2 world together...?

I am absolutely LOVING all these new hero classes as you unlock them. As a formerly big MMO player, the unique twists they give to the classic tank/healer/dps roles are so fun and interesting. Between gems/accessories/fusion arts and skills, I feel like people will be experimenting with different builds in this game for years. I honestly could see a theoretic pvp mode created out of this at some point.

Caved and bought a fucking switch for this.......again. I sold my original launch one after fire emblem, which I enjoyed.

I hope I'm not disappointed...not a fan of "hardcore anime", but I've always LOVED XC1 back when I played it over 10 years ago...a lot has changed since then though. Never got into XCX and wasn't a fan of character designs of XC2 (it was enough to make me not play it).

I am in the mood for a good jrpg. Tales of Arise made me feel kinda meh towards the end, but I loved the first half.

I played about 1,5 hours last night. Tried opening all map of the Dannagh Desert. Dang, it's so big I still haven't open all of it
I'm so impressed by quality of the Hero quests, not only they are voiced but also most of them have high quality cutscenes.
too bad no Heart-to-Heart. I really enjoyed those

okay I went and did the other sidequest in chapter 3 and unlocked the burst ability so I can retry that boss on hard difficulty.

I was a bit worried because the boss of that sidequest is also a big buff mobius and unlike the boss I'm stuck on he's a higher level than me aswell, so I thought he would be tougher but he's pretty easy and I took him out in one attempt. So now I'm all set to retry Mobius B with the burst ability. This class I unlocked also has a remove debuff ability too so that may prove useful.

I gotta go back to work now tho so I'll have to try it later

I'm still at chapter 2, just unlocked the ability to switch classes. I feel much better with Agnus classes fighting with the more agile XB2 style. Fits me far better.

Just unlocked essentially the Blue Mage class and am now going back over all the tomb stones of unique monsters to grab there special attack...

I'm laughing at how happy this made me after FFXIV made the class a joke. Its so nice to have a game that has the mechanics that made the class's so fun in the first place and be viable.

I'm not really doing the story as I keep getting side tracked with colony side quests... I mean I can't leave those guys alone until there all fed and rested right? It's me that put them in that situation in the first place.

Which chapter are you on

Chapter 3 i think. I dont feel the same attachment to the characters I felt in Xenoblade 2 so far. Didn't feel any emotional attachment to the characters in 1 neither. I will say I like the cast of 3 a lot more than 1. The cast and villains of 2 are going to be very hard to top. 2 is probably my favorite video game of all time. The true enemies in 3 are still very much a mystery in their motives. Will be interesting to see if they are villains with some sympathetic and redeeming qualities ike Jin, Malos, and Amalthus. So far they just seem like assholes that revel in villainy. But I trust Takahashi's writing so I'm looking forward to the answers.

loving the game

but my main gripe is difficulty, I am convinced the other games did this better, they had no difficulty selection, and yet handled it much better

neither normal or hard feel just right. Truly a shame. Best I can do right now is keep it normal and try to remain underleveled, but yeah, not ideal

Finally finished opening all the map of Dannagh Desert, except the lower middle area because there are no access to that place

I had a couple more goes against that really hard boss Moebius B with burst ability. Got him to 10 percent health before he wiped out all my healers. Turns out burst only works for a little while and then the boss gets his enraged status back a bit later. Otherwise I would have beat him because he is almost managable when not enraged. I'm gonna keep at it this way since I got so close but this dude is just ridiculous compared even to higher level bosses of the same type.

Just started, chapter 2 I believe. I am finally able to switch between characters. My main gripe with the combat so far is that I feel like I don't have enough control...if that makes sense.

I'm hoping it's still early, but I feel useless when a character is dying since I am unable to manually heal. Is healing strictly for healing classes only?

Also, can someone explain combos and debuffs in more detail? Break, topple, daze? What does each one do and does it have to be done in that order?

Is there seriously no way to mute this annoying battle voices? Even in Xenoblade 1 you could do it. WTF
And can you not disable the mission goal icon? I don't like being shown all the time where to go.

I arrived on Chapter 3 and I’ve realized that I don’t like all the classes. Sure they’re great if someone else is using them, but not when I’m going to actually control someone. There was level 17 monster big sluggish Star Wars like monster with the blue wings, indicating it’s stronger. It completely wiped my party. I go back and change my classes to what I was originally using and it was a cakewalk.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Haven't had a lot of time to play. But this game consumes my thoughts.

Only 8 hours in, probably the middle of Chapter 2.

Wait you can? How?

Iv just being going along with the order.

You use d-pad or analog stick (doesn’t come to mind which) to switch between characters.

So then the strategy makes a lot more sense, using an healer can max to 99% without exceeding, finishing with a defender will bring back attackers, etc. I thought the order was fixed and was random luck, but it’s now much easier to go >150% (2 character recall) and even >200% (3 character recall)

Is it annoying anyone else that after almost every big battle a cutscene follows that acts as if a fight never happened or that you got your ass kicked even though you won?

So that’s what determines how many characters get back? I thought it was because you finished with a tank?

When I did a chain attack I would actually just try to stay close to 100% to not waste characters, so thanks for the tip.

It's especially annoying when I have over damaged them with huge finishers to 450% bonus exp and over 300,000+ additional damage.

I'm like... dude you cannot just get up from that.... especially because I just overkilled your ass so hard that half my team just managed to go from rookies to expert full metal jaguar marksmans off your ass alone.

I think if games want to do this they need to take the "unwinnable boss" route some games have, where your supposed to lose the fight then the cutscene plays, but if you somehow snatch a victory the scene is changed slightly and rather than just magically overpowering you the boss shows suprise and uses some BS to cover for his loss... like acknowledge it in game please.

Hells yeah I did it wooo! I beat the Moebius B boss on hard

What a tough frikk'n boss lol

He was highly resistant to break (and everything else) and I needed to keep breaking him so I could burst him so he would just be really strong instead of unbearable.

So I used red chain orders, that way Noah would get TP bonuses each round when he tried break, so after failing he would have the highest TP and thus would be called back to try break again in the next round when I finish with a tank, which grants the bonus that the character with the highest TP would come back. Eventually I'd break him and then burst him and immediately focus on getting a chain attack ready for when his awakening reset. It also helped that I got a bit better at character switching. I quickly swapped between my 3 healers whenever the boss froze them with a binding debuff, and mashed the buttons to help them all break out.

On with chapter 3. This game needs a level down feature 4 sho
