New comparison video of TLOU I from Naughty Dog

It's a bit disingenuous calling the original a PS4 game.

It's a PS3 game that got a minor bump on PS4.

It needs to look significantly better than TLOU2 to be impressive, not the first one. And it doesn't.

I think Jason Schreier was saying that it took them 4 years to develop the remake. Was that correct?

It's interesting that it doesn't match up TLOU2 in terms of fidelity.

From the leaked gameplay videos, I don't see the strap on the rifle.
Big omission if they're not there in the final release.

That's a huge lick of paint they've applied to a PS3 game. It looks fantastic on PS5. Considering the script, voice acting, soundtrack, level design etc was already in place and new £70 games have to do this all from scratch does this game justify the £70 price tag?

I don't really care because ultimately I'll get £70 worth of enjoyment from it EASY. I'm really hyped to revisit this masterpiece.

Depends. ND took over the project in 2020 after shipping TLOU2, but the game has been in development since 2018 over at VSG studios with ND sharing their TLOU2 engine with them along with a few devs providing guidance.

So overall, 4 years, but ND came on board 2 years ago. The cutscenes look remarkable so if I had to guess the original team at VSG worked on the somewhat underwhelming gameplay sections while ND animators and cutscene artists worked on the cutscenes.

Represent.

Represent(ative) of bad opinions
lmao Sony marketing in the Jim Ryan era is like High School internship levels of bad.

Pure silence for months on end, leaks, new fake rumors every week, no-show at gamings biggest events, no communication, blog posts for big announcements... The PS5 was revealed via some 2hour long ultra boring nerdy PowerPoint ffs. And when they finally do show snippets of gameplay its on some horrible Twitter compressed gif. :|

A joke.

I don’t think you don’t have a right to complain, I’m just pointing out the complaints are stupid and redundant and tangential to a conversation around the before and after comparison.

It can be argued that the main aim of the ‘before and after’ comparison is to make the case for the price tag of a 1:1 remake.

Hey guys what if we just don’t pay anyone for their work and then everything would be free

Aside from the full development costs, The price tag of a game also covers the year(s) spent in planning, story writing, pre-production etc. a 1:1 remake skips most of those steps and will cost a fraction of the costs of a new game.
Nobody is saying it should be free, but it’s probably hard to justify paying $70 if you’ve played it on PS3 and PS4.

That said, to each their own. I’ll be buying it day one since I never played the original.

Look how stiff he is in the original and how much more natural/fluid in the remake.
The animation in the old one looks more like how you would sit on a horse at a canter as opposed to sitting straight up and just flopping around in the saddle like how it's animated on the remake

If we can't complain then might as well eat dirt no? Imagine a world where we are not allowed to have issues with corporations. You might be ok with it. I'm not. An upgrade should be free for the same game. Hell, I would even consider 10 to 30 euros depending how old the game is. But this? It's scummy.
The game age isn't relevant since it's been redone from the ground up. This is not just a high resolution texture pack upgrade. Thinks of Demon Soul PS5.
It's not scummy, it's how works. You thinks this kind of upgrade is free or cheap. You don't have remotely any idea the amount of workforce needed this kind of project.
People are always complaining about the price but never question their ability to wait. If you want to pay cheap price just wait a year instead of complaining that you want everything cheap and now.

People actually expected a huge leap over TLOU 2?

Well, why wouldn't we? It's been sold as built specifically for PS5 - Schreier even claimed a new engine was built for it (obviously BS, in hindsight) - and the PS5 has shown itself capable of huge advances over PS4 at around 4k30, so it should look significantly better.

I'm just increasingly of the view that it was originally made as a PS4 game. They've tried to tart it up since for the PS5 but it's not been particularly effective. IMO it does look better than P2 but only marginally.

The game was in development since 2018, using the same engine as the TLOU 2. Now if this game started development after TLOU 2, then you would have a point, but it wasn't.

I think it looks perfectly fine. I'd buy this for my Xbox if it weren't a Sony exclusive. I've heard the second game has some of the best gameplay of all time, but one game hasn't been enough to get me to shell out for a Playstation yet. But Bloodborne, Demon Souls and some other stuff from last gen has been seriously tempting me though.

We are expected to pay over $100 here in Australia for a graphical overhaul? Any new areas? New scenarios? Anything new apart from the graphics overhaul and gameplay tweaks?
Just $100? Nice. You get even less content with no MP.
