CoD Modern Warfare 2022 Campaign Thread

Paused my play through last night, just after the vehicle chase level.

So far the stealth has been dialled way up and most levels have a less of a corridor feel about them so far. With maybe the exception being the canals. (They are all still essentially corridors, but good job to the devs in kind of hiding it on most levels.).

Digging it on hardcore, but for some reason it is making me itch to play mw3 (maybe I am just missing the crazy over the top spectacle)

Graphical it’s not too terrible. The lighting on some parts, makes it very realistic looking and hazy or as someone mentioned. It has a very Sicarrio feel to it

Roll on tonight and trying to avoid spoilers till then 🙈🤞

On PS5, anyone know what the scoop is with Fidelityfx CAS? If it was a simple improvement youd think it would be enabled by default, which it is not, leading me to think there must be some tradeoff involved. I cant really tell a difference myself.
Probably only useful in the 120Hz mode, adds a bit of sharpness.

In not too impressed by the graphics and I have high textures on. Best part is the lighting. The nighttime graphics look really cool.

Playing as the Mexican character now. Of course the objective is to hop the border LOL
Next mission will be the Irish ranger's in a bar fight. I'm on mission 6. Enjoying it so far.

Reading this thread...okay im going to pre-order it in like an hour so I can play the campaign lol

I was trying to hold out but I like a little COD to break away from RPG's and Open world games.

I think I'm about halfway done, it looks great most of the time in near distance, but others things look rough, especially when looking at a far distance, it looks super low detail and sparse. Playing on Xbox Series X.

This is the best Call of Duty campaign I’ve played in years - maybe ever.

Great pacing, fantastic graphics (and frame rate on PS5), awesome cinematics, GOLDEN GUNS, extremely diverse locales (many surprising) and just a damn fun time overall. There are some bonkers set piece moments that make so many levels unique.

So glad I have this a week out from multiplayer. Smart move.

Also, there’s totally a part of the game directly inspired by TLoU gameplay and they nailed it - especially on Veteran difficulty.

Hey bros, is there a way to readjust brightness/hdr settings after the initial setup? My game feels a little too dark and I want to change that. Can't find the setting though.

Soo what are everyone's first impressions of the game? Can not wait for the multiplayer personally. :messenger_beaming:
Great. Controls are superb when using this setup and graphics are top notch if you enable FidelityFX and sets it to 100. Story is 7/10 but the action is some of the best I've played in a very long time.

I'm doing the story on veteran now. It's tough 😅

Why so surprised by the graphics… I could tell by looking at the trailer that they were very good.
They have improved them quite the bit. Just compare on reveal trailer when price amd gaz are on water in harbor to the release version and it looks much better.

The Pop-in is really distracting and hopefully not an indicator for the MP which had the same problem in the beta. Microstutters in the cinematics and imo a downgrade in overall fidelity does hamper my enjoyment quite a lot.

Played last night up until the freeway mission. Good shit. (y)

It's gonna be a loooooooong week waiting for MP to unlock, tho. :(

This is gonna be a long bloody week waiting for my code to unlock on the intel software program… half tempted to sell it and buy it on PS5…

I would just wait. Its a good campaign but not worth fretting over. And no you won’t fall behind on the multiplayer lol the campaign is only like 6-8 hours.

Just finished the campaign. Really enjoyed it overall. Definitely had some of those special moments. Felt slower paced and more tactical than I remember previous games being, but it suits the updated game engine.

It looks and runs beautifully on PC in ultrawide. Excited for multiplayer, especially Warzone.

What gpu/cpu are you running it on?

I enjoyed the campaign but I cannot get over the ridiculous need for nostalgia and fan service in these last two MW games. It is completely pointless and only ruins the campaign because you know exactly what is going to happen. Wow I wonder if the general who is named after the general who betrayed you in MW2 will betray me. They treat these characters like they are legendary works of art and not just action characters that were cool because they were in a good game 15 years ago.

The endings are also awful in these last two games. They treated Al-Asad in 2019 and Makarov in this game as these Avengers type villians with their reveal. I seriously have trouble articulating how stupid this is. It really is the dumbest shit. When they showed Makarov's phone saying "No Russian" in the ending my eyes rolled to the back of my head. Like just fuck off. Embarrassing levels of nostalgia bait.

Not even gonna put spoilers because it's the same shit as 2009 so who cares.

I really like how much Valeria & Phillip ham it up as the villains in this game. Usually Infinity Ward games don't have charismatic villains. Just generic angry Russian guy, generic angry Middle Eastern guy, John Snow, e.t.c. but this time they felt like they were from a Black Ops game lmao

I played what seems to be about halfway through the game up to the mission after the oil rig demo.

Some positives:

The lighting looks pretty amazing in certain sections of the game, much better than BF 2042 in my opinion. The missions are much more open if you're into that but so far they are not as enjoyable to me as the 2019 campaign and certainly don't hold the same feeling I got playing the original MW2, though there are multiple references to Call of Duty 4 as well as the original Modern Warfare 2.

The sound design is also pretty good especially if you have a home theater. I put my audio settings on cinema mode and the dynamic range is excellent.

Some negatives:

Ghost has absolutely no place in these games. His character is a pathetic joke and it's completely unfathomable that a soldier would wear a 3D printed facemask in combat, let alone swimming in water.

The missions have been pretty lack luster thus far especially compared to MW 2019.

And done. Enjoyed it for what it was.

The video game equivalent of a packet of cheese puffs.

Edit: Its like the opposite of Halo infinite for me. The combat is wafer thin but the polish and spectacle is fantastic. The cut scenes are unbelievable. Might as well just do live action at this point as some of them are almost indistinguable from the real deal. It was blur who did them right? Main event next week.

He's just there for the 12 year olds. I don't mind him. I think you're going to roll your eyes hard at a future story development though LOL

Wish you could buy a cross system copy. I would like to play the campaign on my series x or ps5 and multiplayer on my PC. I don't like playing single player games on a trash 27" 165hz monitor when I have a couple nice oled TV's. They don't make oled monitors yet under a billion dollars.

This runs way better than the past CoD's like Cold War.

Don't see RT options but I don't care.

Maxed out and running at 4k144 with zero drops. Much better effort.

On PS5 I opted for quality and it runs great at 4k60. Super impressed on both ends visually/technically.

For some reason people dnt give credit to cods for the graphics but this is an amazing looking game, that Amsterdam lvl my god how good and close to real life it looks.
I literally stopped the game at the beginning of that level to come say that it looks pretty damn good.

Can't remember a CoD looking anywhere near this and running this well. And the cinematics are top notch. Story is what it is but serviceable.

Visually it's damn good. The audio on PS5 through my Atmos surround setup running in DTS is pretty amazing in itself as well.
