WIRED has given Hogwarts Legacy a 1/10 review score

The transgender character is ridiculous. In a world where magic can literally make people invisible or make them look like a rat or whatever, there surely are better ways to appear female as a man. When he said "Took them a second to realize I was actually a witch, not a wizard." I actually laughed out loud at how out of place and ridiculous it was. It didn't even buy them any goodwill with the purplehairs either.

The being said, the game is great.
Yeah that is what I mean. If you were a person in a world of magic that felt the need to transition, isnt there a spell that can (for lack of a better term, (please do not report me to the mods here) make you a legit woman? a womb, and all the other mental/physical issues women have to deal with? I mean, another thing is that you would never even need drugs or medical bills for the change.

We are being punk'd guys.
This is all a grift.
They keep making a stink about it so we will keep talking about it.
So people keep hearing about it and get curious to buy the game.

No way this is real life.
I've actually been thinking about that the last couple of days, and just now did a quick search.

And this is interesting...

Wired is owned by Condé Nast.
Condé Nast is owned by Advance Publications.

Meanwhile...

Warner Bros is owned by Warner Bros. Discovery
Guess who is one of the 3 listed owners of Warner Bros. Discovery...

Advance Publications.

Now this in itself proves nothing, but it certainly asks, at the bare minimum: Why would the owner of a publication allow that publication to publicly denounce one of its own products?

It's a good time to be reminded that almost all media in the western world funnels up to about 6 owning entities. If they want to play us, they most certainly can.

Can you ignore this quest ?

The quest I did that involved this person is a side quest, so I belive so. However they Have a role helping you at the start of the game which could mean they are more involved with the mainline story, not sure on that one. I don't mind as long as it's not in your face as that

If this isn't fanfiction/trolling it means I'm on the right path.

Her introductory scene is like a story that George Santos would make up about himself

That's the kind of research I love to see. You are 100% correct. I feel like this is another example of Outrage Marketing.

Don’t fall for it. It’s his livelihood that is at stake - he can always find a new game but he depends on the lunatics in order to earn money.
You can bet all streamers saying they will not stream the game will still be playing it themselves.
Ah I understand he'll probably play it himself. I would. He's just not willing to have his specific content used as a entryway for people to churn out hateful crap. I can respect that at least.

Personally I don't care. Got the game, loving the game. I don't involve myself in online drama beyond a passing interest.

Giant multinational media holding corporations don't coordinate marketing from the top down when one company happens to release a product that receives coverage from a magazine owned by another company under the same umbrella.

I don't even know how to respond to that.

The "review" was more about the writers feelings than anything else. How on earth WiRED can even wouch for this crap is beyond me.

What the fuck is happening in this gaming world? I mean, this is now beyond cry-laugh moment. Every time a controversy in gaming is happening I say to myself it can't get any worse or dumb, but yeah, I'm always proven wrong.

It just keeps piling up, if it's not fanboys with ''omfg this game I like is perfection, the rest are shit and so are you if you don't like it'', then there are those entitled ones that think they deserve better than the game that they got and then it's shit like this. For the love of God, I can't understand what the fuck happened to just simply enjoy a game and be thankful that you can play it and be amazed at technological advancements.

The west developed an insanely unhealthy obsession with ID pol, which when some people make it the center of their life; differences in race, gender, anger stoked by a large portion of the political ideology saying it is fine - you began to find this in every aspect. A need to “educate” or “re-educate”.

That is what is happening here. Combine that with the need for attention on social media, and people needing to feel their ideas are validated to normalize some of their extreme views, and we have a vortex of problems.

Unfortunate.

I really miss when gaming was an escape from the real world, and less an extension of it.

Very true. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing half the time. Hell, in this analogy, they're not even hands on the same body.

Why? I haven’t followed this game or what the issue is…can someone clue me in please?
JK Rowling was labeled a TERF/transphobe and cancelled a few years ago over these tweets:

The protests and outrage continue to this day.

In the case of Hogwart's Legacy, the developers have included trans options for the character creator and significant positive trans representation in the story, and have not aligned with Rowling on these issues at all, but that has not stopped people like the author of this Wired review or folks in certain social media and internet forum circles from lashing out at the game.

I really enjoy Ars Technica...but they cross post wired shit and if this shows up I'll sadly have to move on without them.

Opinions are like cunts. Keep quiet unless asked.

Digital Foundry doesn't seem to be boycotting the game.

From DF Direct Weekly #98:

Warner Bros did not supply DF a code for the game prior to the game's release yesterday [Friday].

Rich: "But it's out now and ultimately our job is to comment and critique on game technology, performance, and presentation in a way that's useful to our audience. So when we get the game, we'll assess it, and figure out how we want to cover it when we've actually seen it, of course. Does covering the game actually mean that we're endorsing the creator in any way? I mean that's fairly obvious: no. But at the same time, as a journalist, I'm not on board with the idea that a critique of a game is an advert or an endorsement for a game and therefore we shouldn't cover it at all. That doesn't seem right to me. That's not what editorial is fundamentally and it's not the reason why we do what we do."
Better get a security service team 24/7 guarding their house then. Preferably with loud ammunition.

It's not a conspiracy.

Perhaps not a conspiracy, but it's even funnier to realize the following:

1) The editors and writers of wired ultimately work for the same massive company that is publishing Hogwarts Legacy.
2) That their 1/10 review will undoubtedly result in more copies sold, not less.

It's funny Hogwarts could have been the new Dungeons and Dragons of the 80's, the forbidden dark fruit that all parents warned their kids not to play. The media labeled it harmful and bad, causing deaths and murders. The only difference now is a lot of parents grew up loving Harry Potter, or this would have gone the same. The love for the franchise is so great, it's outgrew the creator. Reasonable people can separate the two things, everyone can. People just choose when to do it and it makes everyone a hypocrite on some level at some point in time. I'll go back to using my Ipad and Iphone now.

Wow we live in a bizzaro world. That Wired journalist is a fucking idiot.

We live in degenerate times and it’s been molded that way by the society to capitalize on their infinite greed. Many empires have folded this way…

Did This thing lose its job? That's very unprofessional.

No, in fact their management fully "supported" the hitpiece.

Majority of these outlets have lost their professionalism due to hiring these activists. Just take a look at Gamespot's editor/reviewer and you'll know why Gamespot didn't put up a review and continued shitting on the game instead. Shame because there are...or rather were some good people who used to work there.

https://mobile.twitter.com/jessiegender?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^author

The only good thing to come out of this is exposing which publications and/or individual reviewers are trusting and which are agenda driven. Lost all credibility.

For every 10 idiots like this, 100,000 sales have happened. Inconsequential, and just goes to show why game "journalism" does actually deserve to be mocked to hell and back.

I've been told 2 or 3x to educate myself in the past few days by some lunatics bc I don't support their woke extreme views. I cringe when i see pronouns or people who say they identify as this or that, lmao leave the internet, go out for long walks in the forest and then start identifying as yourself/ be yourself.
