Yeah especially wirelessly on for the DS, even games like Returnal on PC they dont use the full extent of the DS like on the triggers, it cant recognise a half press so the secondary fire is a seperate button.
On the flip side any game now has good gyro aiming.

In terms of 3D audio some games do have an internal version of it, but for some reason its hit and miss, for instance again returnal has amazing audio on PC that matches the PS5, but others dont. Not sure on this, it didnt sound particularly 3D on PC.
Apparently there is no 3d audio on pc re4make for now. You can just select headphones and 3d falls on system level, on pc it is atmos stuff if you have it and on ps5, system 3d audio (superior)

How is the demo, i didnt bother to download it, is it on par with RE2 Remake? or feels better based on what you played? does it lives up to the original?
I've never been a fan of the survival horror RE games. I prefer the action orientated games aka RE4/RE5.

I prefer the OG RE4. Also aiming feels completely off. Trying to line my shots up is a pain with the controller.

Its familiar, but with a few twists, people who were expecting 1:1 could be dissapointed and there are some concerns about the controls and combat animations ,but overall seems like its a solid remake and good way to relive the experience

For example the new music is like if it was taken straight from RE7 😨and it is quite scary,if you aren't fully on board i just recommend waiting for a sale but it will defintly be worth checking out, and im sure its going to be scarier than the original

It kinda sucks that we arent getting this crazy John Wick style combat in this game. It's where they've taken the CG series (which is cannon btw) so clearly thats the kind of action they want from the games but for whatever reason, they feel reluctant to go full John Wick.

I thought RE7 and RE2make were a great return to the OG formula but its 2023 now and its time to move on and reinvent the wheel. The game already has a huge focus on melee. I was just watching this youtuber pick up zombies from behind and throw them on the ground and it reminded of the Chris takedowns in the vid above. Shouldve gone all in on melee just like TLOU2 did. Let me grab the zombies, and use THEM as a shield. Let me blow their brains out while i have them as a hostage like Ellie does. Abby has some sick fucking melee kills when you activate her momentum skills. I know its heresy to even say this but RE shouldve borrowed some stuff from TLOU2. The dodges in the video above reminded me a lot of the pre-downgrade TLOU2 gameplay. Just slick as fuck.

Probably because they're afraid to go into full blown action territory since their last experiment on that bit them on the ass. Resident Evil needs to be either Survival Horror or a blend of Survial Horror/Action. It should never go full tilt into action territory imo. That has consistently been where the series has been at it's lowest.

I think there's a good reason why in the mainline entries we've stopped playing as Chris, Jill and Leon. As you saw in that video you posted, these people are the most battle hardened, elite warriors in the fight against bioterrorism. By this point if any of these people saw a Tyrant followed by an army of lickers, instead of being scared they'd be more annoyed that the won't have an easy day at work. You can't really make a Survival Horror game with characters like that. I think that's part of why the Remakes have been welcome, because we can still play as the Legacy characters. But I would not be surprised if RE9 is a new character.

I think TLOU2 retains that survival horror aspect. RE4 was always more action packed and remake is the same if not more action oriented and still feels survival horror. Right now it just feels clunky. If I can do a bionic kick and throw a zombie like im hulk hogan, i dont think it would be too out of the norm to dodge (which was in RE3) and have some more takedown animations.

Figures RE4 is the remake they seem to be going all out on over the games that really needed it but having said that extremely cynical thing ....

they are knocking it out of the park. I definitely get the crank it to 11 comments. It's like every element from RE4 has been expanded on or made even better. The weapons have more impact, the environments have more interaction during combat ( outside of doors....why capcom whyyyy????), the parry makes melee stuff even more fun, Ganado are less goofy now.

Good stuff.

They might not have implemented those to avoid you being too mobile so you'd dominate everything. I'm just guessing.

Nah, it makes sense. It's a tricky balance act. I mean they had dodge in RE3 and took it out. I just played and beat RE3 like 7 times last month to unlock all the weapons and really ended up liking the perfect dodge mechanic. Slowed down time and everything. So if they took that out, it must be because they didnt want to make it too easy.

I'm so glad that DF is actually gonna talk about the UNPLAYABLE fucking Xbox deadzone.

usually they skip over stuff like this

PC version controlled like trash until I turned Camera Acceleration to max. I honestly have no idea who playtested this game.

Is he talking about the RT mode here? I played the PS5 performance mode with VRR turned off and didnt notice any major drops.
Yeah, according to my TV without RT on graphics mode only the very first part really had issues (low-mid 50s), not sure why, maybe the fog or something? After I got in the first house it seemed fine.

John Linneman is beginning to sound more and more like Ricky. He consistently grants wins for XSX due to VRR regardless of output performance while ignoring majority of gamers without a VRR compatible screen. A true rescuer.

because VRR makes the game feel better to play.
if you want the best current gen experience playing Elden Ring for example, it's on Xbox on a 120hz vrr screen, it's very simple.

and the same is true here as well

its the same on PC. first area is the only time it dips below 60 fps at native 4k in a non combat area. could be the fog. i posted my PC gameplay footage on the last page that shows this.

Yeah he was directly asked about performance, no one cares about his "bu-bu-bu-but vrr" gibberish.

Capcom gotta fix this for launch. I'll hang fire on my playthrough if that deadzone isn't fixed on xbox.

I could play the demo. Ran through it 3 times but it is less than ideal.

I guess if you turn off the CA it fixes the ps5 version or is it still lower resolution.

Played the demo few more times on ps5 and pc...
honestly I am not happy with ps5 version. It only holds in vrr (48fps+) window in performance mode without Rt and without Strand hair. Any other combination and the game craps it's pants and goes below 48fps often.
On top of that, strand hair looks like shit in comparison to pc and normal hair is very pxielated.
The game looks soft and dithered over all....

On pc it looks much better and performs better aside from crashes. I found that at 4k maxed, textures vram high 2gb and interlacing seem rather safe. Around 9gb of vram used out of 10 on 3080. Anything more than that, even fsr ultra quality and it has a high chance of crashing.\

Of course ps5 got much better dualsense controls and 3d audio. PC got mouse and keyboard

The pc has Spatial sound ie dolby atmos / dts X

Zero crashes at 4k 120fps every setting in maximum

The pc version is the absolute best version

It seems xbox series x is second then ps5, then xbox series s followed by ps4.

Pc version don't have spatial audio. it relies on your own spatial audio solution bought separately for windows.

Tons of crashes at 4k. Many many many crashes. Maybe you have more vram but on 3080 10gb I have to set textures to 2gb, shadows to high and interlacing to reduce crashing.

Pc version is the absolute best version? BULLSHIT. No Dualsense and 3d audio on ps5 is better than dolby crap. But pc version CAN look better and run faster. But as it is, I get 60-70fps on 3080.

no comment on last statement.

He did exactly the same with Elden Ring. It's all about his subjective preferences. He appears rather defensive and manipulative.
With ER i could understand. This was before PS5 started supporting VRR.

Now, I am less sympathetic to his complaints. 1 because I am not seeing any drops in Performance mode. Just bad IQ. Secondly, VRR tvs are really not that common still. And finally, i dont care how good the Xbox VRR support is, you are GOING to notice drops to 42 fps.

I think Sony deserves some criticism for pushing LFC on devs who are already overwhelmed making 6 different SKUs with 3-6 performance modes for each SKU. You cant expect them to custom support LFC too. Shouldve been built in.

Played the demo on both PS5/PC. In the beginning, I wasn't feeling it. I had to get used to the controls and tweak some camera settings and graphics settings. After 10 play throughs, I REALLY was digging it. The enemies here seem smarter and harder, the dismemberment is WILD and the guns feel and sound great. Shotgun needs more oopmh tho.

Can't wait to get it!

Oh okay, seems like I wasn't imaging things. The controls feels like shit on Xbox, also it does looks quite bit worse than RE 8, while running worse.

Did you ever try turning off RT? I am super surprised by your performance woes and crashes. I have had none but then again i have stopped turning on RT in games. Gotham Knights, Hogwarts and RE all have poor RT implementations that go beyond just drastically reducing performance. they are simply broken with insane stuttering, poor CPU optimizations and crashes.

It's a shame that my $850 card has basically become a standard rasterization card. Shouldve just bought a cheaper AMD card I guess. This game doesnt even support DLSS.

Yes. Turning of RT fixes the crashes. But what's the point of playing pc version on a 3080 if I have to turn it off?
Well maybe you are right... RT does shit in this anyway.

Overall I feel Rt is a scam and a waste of everyones time.
Yes. of course I replayed metro exodus enhanced edition on pc. yes, it looks amazing but the game needs to really go for it

Windows sonic is Spatial sound and is part of Windows.

I do own dolby atmos and dts X so maybe I'm biased.

I may try Windows version with headphones which I never do using dolby atmos, dts X then Windows sonic then I'll try the ps5 version with headphones to compare. Im sure the ps5 will have the best headphone experience but nothing compares to actual physical speakers. I'm using a 7.2.4 layout and this game has some amazing sound in my home theatre.

Hopefully the final game will be better for your gpu although it's seemingly an issue to have a small amount of graphic card ram.

Yeah, I tend to agree that RT is just a waste of time. Metro did it well and I do like RTGO but most recent games I tried with it on look no different to me and I lose a bunch of frames to it.

I had forgotten how awful RE4 was, with that ammo sponge chainsaw dude, and the worthless trash mob, using grenades was the best way to deal with all of it.

Not sure how well the game has aged in all these years.

Same damage control as with Elden Ring where PS5 also had both resolution and framerate advantage.

Do they even know VRR TVs are still quite niche among players? I mean at some point they'll stop doing framerate analysis. What's the point even? Just spend the whole video talking about the "superior" VRR.

But more and more people do have vrr. All versions are dropping frames so no one wins.

he was always like that, thinking everyone out there has his setup.
even two years ago when those stuff were available to like %5 of his audience, dude couldn’t stop talking about VRR that BFI this.
at least nowadays it makes bit more sense.

about demo stuff wouldn’t worry too much on any platform yet
remember there was substantial difference between village demo and game.
aiming was also shit on xbox for that one though, you’d think they would figure it out by now.

I am just countering these absolute statements which are not good.
I have a hate boner because pc sucks. But I always play re games on pc because they play better and this is the case again it seems. I choose on game per game basis.

Dead space is better on consoles but this seems better on pc.

I just tried the ps5 version after playing it on my 4090 pc.. 😢

Yikes it needs some optimisation!

I highly recommend turning off lens distortion and fine hair as both looked wrong compared to the pc version.

Even in resolution mode it looks low resolution?

Also it's ways brighter than its supposed to be, I reduced peak brightness till I could see the faint square as usual but I had to reduce the 2nd part by 5 steps to get it even remotely dark in the dark areas. Completely wrong!

The audio wasn't as good either as I was missing the Spatial audio dolby atmos from my pc version.

The headphones 3d audio was surprisingly poor too compared to games like demon's souls.

The one thing I was impressed with is it gave me the harder difficulty on the 2nd try.

I wished I had a xbox series x to try the demo on too as I've not been able to do a direct comparison before.

You are playing on a 4090 though...however,

I just tried it on SX to compare because I'm disappointed with the image quality on ps5. If it does look better its only slightly. They both don't have great iq and yeah the Xbox version feels worse to control.

That's with lens distortion/chrom aberration OFF, RT and hair strands OFF on both. There's no way around it, this is disappointing on console.

I have a VRR capable TV and both consoles, so I tested the game a lot these days. I can accept that in resolution mode Xbox has less framerate, but the thing is that what you perceive when playing is that in resolution mode Xbox version is smooth meanwhile in PS5 has constant and noticeable stutters. So, yes, maybe, PS5 version has a higher framerate in resolution mode, but if it feels smoother in Xbox, which version is preferable?

I have doubts, if they shoot near a Zombie, and with the outbreaks of a pool of blood, how come the protagonists do not get infected?

apparently DLSS and XeSS are implemented in the demo, but deactivated and hidden from the optiosn menu...

Where's the proof? It was enabled by modder 'praydog' who also got DLSS, FSR2 and XeSS working in all other RE Engine games. There may be commonalities between these games that made it easy, and there are certainly commonalities between the data FSR2 needs and the data DLSS needs. Also I tried the DLSS option in RE4 before and it's clearly not properly implemented given that the jitter is visible in the game.

After playing the demo a few more times, I'm bothered by the random elements to the village scene involving the chainsaw guy. Resident Evil games always had a strong relationship with the concept of predictability. It was about letting the player learn and optimise their run. I've had the chainsaw guy randomly appear in a house that I run into while being chased by the horde, and I've had the scene where the chainsaw guy destroys my escape route in a cutscene. Both put you in a kind of bullshit situation. The original game had a more tight design.

Also, Mad Chainsaw mode... come on guys, this is stupid. You'd need to have an actual learning disability to think it's worthwhile to use your free time to randomly enable this insane difficulty mode where you instantly die if you don't manipulate the enemy AI in some wacky way.

I don't replay demos often, but something about this one keeps me coming back to it each night. It reminds me of the excellent Beginning Hour demo, a nice, replayable little morsel of survival horror. Loving the improved AI and more intense atmosphere. Day 0.

The fact that we're getting a fucking RE4 remake like a month after Prime Remastered is just surreal to me.
