I’ll pass thanks. Watched a gameplay video earlier and can’t see what the fuss is about, looks the same as the first game really with the same shitty floaty combat and animations.

They look fantastic on the OLED screen. Artstyle>50GB+ graphics

Art style and more complex graphics go hand in hand though. The two aren't exclusive. You give a talented artist exponentially more tools and more headroom, and that artist will be able to create much more varied, potentially more beautiful art.

There's a reason Toy Story 4 looks so much better than Toy Story 1, as a broad example.

10GB on system and 8GB available for actual use. Much more than 4GB but still a very small amount.

I swear I read only 1GB was reserved on the S (1.5GB for X) and that the whole 8GB of fast ram was available and 1GB of the slow.

I think that's what the post was poking fun at. That the PR was suggesting the S would have the ability to have the same assets and settings via things like SFS, but just rendering at lower res. Unfortunately that ideal isn't reality for most games. Memory did turn out to be an issue for other things.
Got any links to that PR? They really pushed the fact that wouldn't be the case. See the article below

In other words, reduced texture resolutions and the fact that it renders at 1440p instead of native 4K will mean smaller game sizes on the Xbox Series S. But according to IGN, the Series S will still be “capable of outputting a full 4K signal” if developers choose to enable that feature. Devs will also be able to use a lower resolution (1080p, for example) “in order to utilize more complex graphical effects.”

- it was widely known that this was going to be the case. So many articles.

Outputting (upscaling) 4K and Native 4K are different things.

There are official texture packs on PC around the size of that difference. I can't think of one where the comparisons between Very High and Ultra were profound, but hey, value I guess.
Final Fantasy XV on PC HD Texture Pack makes a night-and-day difference in asset quality and the game's overall look.

Nah, 2.5GB for both.

Sometime last year, they added a few hundred megabytes to the series S by reducing the OS footprint. So its closer to 8GB now but still not 9GB or anything like that.

It can be 300 gigabytes for all I care. I just want to play a game.

If you're bothered by this then you should've moved in an area where they have a better internet.
The gang that lives in my tenement forces themselves on me every friday, and they killed my pets. But, I have good internet.

Damn this shit makes Horizon:FW and GOW:R look itty bitty. Some of these publishers/devs be abusing.

Kind of off topic but I'm not sure they pushed that so much. The PR blurb the person poked fun at is from a since deleted MS video. It's telling that they removed that video because over time Series S cut other things like framerate modes, raytracing, and lowered settings. Probably deleted it for legal reasons they didn’t want to bite them in the ass.

The removed video if you can do some cache or wayback machine magic or something :

they talked about smart delivery too (mainly with xbox one) but the PR at the time was heavily focused on same features just lowered rendering resolution for Series S at 1440p. The guys post was only poking fun at that PR which didn't really turn out to be true.

Smart delivery use suggests lower res textures which undercuts your premise.

How about that same experience at 1440p tho? A lot of us knew it was BS from that anemic box, and the results have been showing more and more, with a lot in the sub 1080p territory.

This is great for the series s version...I'm interested to see what it looks like compared to the big boys. Will the lower res textures be really apparent under normal play I wonder?

It’s the language packs, every one in the galaxy.
Exactly, i think its very irresponsible to force players to download all languages, they need to make you select the language when you download the game, game size is getting so big and a significant cut is going to be welcome.

Come on EA I want to believe after your trailers.

Between this and some of the previews I read my excitement is going down.

Yeah, I don’t speak Bocce, why should I have to download it?!

Sure but come on, 140+GB really? I have a kinda slow internet (downloading at 7mb/s) so this fuckin sucks and OF COURSE no preload on PC.

4K assets aren't features, though. So all games can have the same games, options, modes, and so on. You can have the same experience across the consoles. It's just that when you're rendering at 1080/1440 your not going to use the same textures, no one is caught off-guard by this. It's not feasible to expect that either when the S has 8GB of RAM for games and the X has 13GB of RAM for games. It's not rational to think that both consoles can handle the same texture resolutions, you're out of your mind if you do. Your mindset feels deliberate, like you're arguing just to argue.
