The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom |OT|

Getting all tears is time consuming. Method 2 which is Deku tree is really easy. 6 flower bombs for the hands which is the real boss as phantom ganon is easy.
This is why i asked if it is worthy.
I'm not gonna bother if it work like botw.

I need to give Elden Ring another shot after I beat this it seemed just like more of the same / Dark Souls to me but then again I was worried that this would be more of the same too after Breath of the Wild and boy was I wrong.
If you like open world games and focus on exploration with almost no hand holding at all it’s fantastic. I would say it’s a combination of Breath of the Wild and Demon’s Souls, still restricted in traversal compared to BOTW but better than other third person action adventures, and it has tons of dungeons and bosses and cool loot and character build variations, and whole huge areas are optional and made like exploration and quest rewards.

Haven't been any significant challenges tbh aside from crawling the Depths early game.
I kinda feel the biggest challenges in the game are optional, like the overworld bosses and such. The mandatory ones have all been pretty easy honestly and Im about 65h in, but I haven't even dared take on Gleeok.

Perhaps, but rather not waste muh bombs
Bombs are easily farmable in the depths and against groups i'm now using the confusion\rage arrows that are way more fun (nothing like hitting the biggest enemy in a camp and let him do it the dirty work for you).

I only use Bombs for bosses, you have the rock guy ability to break rock walls.

I have a hatred towards farming in video games, I take what I see but I would never go out to just farm shit (why I hate MMOs). Though I haven't used any of the other interesting attachments to be honest, should use them more.

I used the term farm but i hate farming aswell, i never farmed in this game but the world is so full chocke of ingredients that you have a full inventory by just exploring and fighting.

You just need to explore the depths and in 1-2 hours you should get no less than 20 to 30 bombs if you keep your eyes opened.

Depths are full of gas flowers, confusion flowers and bombs, those are all incredible against groups but you should save bombs for bosses or hard enemies.

Is it even worth to get the master sword if it's another weapon that need a cooldown like in botw?
Yea its still pretty good and you can fuse stuff to it to make it stronger, I did all the tears in less than 90 mins, they're pretty obvious where to find them from the Sky views

Thanks for the info but i'm not interested in yet another breakable weapon if it works like botw, i literally don't see a reason to get it.

I already swim in weapons.

Then 2 rubys.
Rubys do more damage than bombs?

I kinda don't need money because there is so few useful stuff to buy so i could save all these stones for combat later in the game, i already have like 2000 rupees and another 1000 worth of food...

I mean it is also part of the story so if you're going for all the Dragon Tears/Memories, you have to get it

There is a 3rd way btw, just find and land on the Light Dragon, I did that by complete change again earlier whilst going for a Sky Shrine

Tbh I don't really care enough for the lore of this game enough to collect memories :lollipop_grinning_sweat: i prioritize other type of sidequests.

All the story bits until now were ultra generic, shallow, fantasy fanfafare that does nothing to me, i doubt that memories are gonna change my mind.

Been perusing mods for this game. This one struck me as interesting. Basically makes night darker and lights more luminous, especially in contrast.

Click to embiggen.

Seems pretty cool because it does stuff like take the moon into account. On new moon, it's really dark. Gives me Dragon's Dogma night vibes.

From what I've seen yeah. It's a fire bomb, and it kills those hands in two. Or did I use a 3X bow? haha. try it. lemme know.

Nintendo has a mod like that in game, called Depths.

Random question. Not sure anyone would know the answer but figure I'd ask anyway.

I have a hacked Switch(software hack not hardware) so I don't update my firmware right away because you need to update the software on your SD card first before you update, so I usually wait a while to update my Switch when firmware updates come out.

So when Zelda came out, I got the 1.1.0 patch for it on launch before playing. The 1.1.1 patch came out and I downloaded that as well, but for some reason Switch won't apply it until I update my firmware. But my firmware wasn't updated for the 1.1.0 patch and that still applied.

Anyone know why that is? Do some game patches just require you to have the latest Switch firmware to work?

Again, not sure anyone would know the answer to this niche question but figure I'd ask.
I’ve got the digital version but I checked last night, seems im still on TotK 1.1.0 version. My system is upto date because to use eShop it always make you update.

I’m on launch Switch primarily playing in Dock. Frame drops wasn’t as bad as BoTW for me.

I think the sages should have a quick button to call them instead that you have to talk to them to activate the power.

Fighting the water temple boss and the sage is driving me crazy: trying to get hold of him in the thick of it and he just runs randomly around me like trying to avoid me. And the transparency when they are too close isn't helping either.

Oh well, back to it. But honestly, I can't remember Nintendo games making me this frustrated with UI and controls before.

I don't have much experience with Zelda, but I just finished the wind dungeon.
Are Zelda dungeons usually this easy? Because that was not very challenging.

The boss was super fun though.

Havent played the game yet but you thinking it was easy is prolly your subjective xp. But yeah dungeons are kinda easy I guess, anyone of any age above 7 I'd say should be able to finish them. Kinda the case for every 3d zelda games released on consoles. Since there isn't a difficulty to chose from. But there's an exception, Master Quest or whatever the "Hard mode OoT Zelda" is called. The whole game is tuned to be harder then.

I guess. It had some clever ideas for sure. But I was never stumped or wondering what to do next. I just went from windmill to windmill and never stopped.

That's ok though. It was fun.

Biggest problems with the game so far, farming these dam items to light the dark is annoying, endless arrow hording and bow breaking is uff, framerate drops really hold this game back, so many of them to single digits. Combat is frustrating, everything just one shots you in this game randomly. The spirits that help you in combat are annoying as hell to deal with, and the scrolling what u can put on your arrows is getting really old when u only want to use 1-5 items, u gotta scroll through 100 of them.

Other then that having a blast.

I've done the wind dungeon - it barely qualifies as a Zelda dungeon imo, it's just like an extended version of one of the shrines. I haven't beaten the boss, though. I only had five hearts and I ran out of food for cold resistance, so I went off and started exploring elsewhere. Three days later I still haven't been back.

I've made plenty of food now, but it's so tedious. Unless I'm doing it wrong, cooking is just about the worst thing ever. Going into the menu and scrolling through a massive list to select the ingredients, throw them in the pot, press X to skip the whistling scene, get your item, then start over. Even if you wanted to make, say, 10 of the same thing. Are there any shortcuts I'm missing?

If you select one of the ingredients, you can choose the option to see recipes. When you choose a recipe it will automatically put all the ingredients in your hand.
It is still a bit cumbersome because you are only making one thing at a time, but better than having to select all the ingredients yourself.

Nah, the dungeons in this game are super easy. That isn't to say dungeons in the other games are really hard or anything, but they are not this easy for sure. I finished them all super fast without really thinking, I believe the abilities Link has kind of breaks the dungeons. My favourite was the Gerudo one though.

Most other games with mechanics like this let you make 1/2/maximum, etc. And having the screen fade out when you skip the whistling scenes - it's as if Nintendo was super keen for reviewers to notice that Link whistles tunes from old Zeldas. Has every review mentioned that? Cute once, less so when you've heard them all.

All I seem to be attaching to my arrows are keese eyes, fire fruits, bombs, some enemy horns, and i cant remember the name of it but it blinds enemies when it hits them. Going through the menu there is a LOT of items there so I feel like I could be doing better. What are some of your favourite combos? Doesn't need to be for just arrows but for swords/shields too. I could go read through all the descriptions or experiment (which I will) but just wanted to ask what you're all using?

and I think I already asked this but didn't see any answers (sorry if I missed it). Once i land in Hyrule when should I go back up to the sky islands? Does the story take me back up there or can I just go up at any time? I did try recalling a rock but it stopped like half way up and there were no islands near it I could jump onto. Do all rocks go to an island or only certain ones?

I agree the sages contextual power activation is a mess but you can slightly mitigate the annoyance by whistling which is supposed to pull them towards you. Doesn't seem to be perfectly consistent though.

Just use the cold resistance clothing? You should have the pants from the tutorial area, now just buy the chest piece at Rito Village. No need to cook.........

For the arrows:

Smash all the square wooden box and barrels you see
Use the shield trick, you get every arrow you block.

For the lights: explore caves, they are full of that stuff, in the last pages there are like 3 methods on how to find them, right now i have like 200+ of them.

For the combat: if you are really in a pinch, find the location of one of the fairy on yt go to her and reveal all the other locations, when you have at least one piece of equip with 8 defense (so 2 upgrades) and 2 with 5 and at least 6 hearts, ALMOST nothing is gonna one shot you.

The hyrule yellow-ish pants you buy in the first village you visit are easy to upgrade 2 times in terms of materials.

I’ve only got the bottom half of that. The temple is super cold. I also died from cold in the desert area when I flew too high, didn’t realise that was possible.

Is it just me or does it seem to rain too much? I know the south part of the map its intended but it seems even near Hyrule castle and Karikiko it does as well

I fast travelled to the tutorial area, the snow shrine more specifically and just collected spicy peppers around there, 15 will give you about 1hr worth of cold resistance 3x recipes with 5 peppers.

That was enough for me to tackle the dungeon + boss fight :)

That’s rich man’s talk. I haven’t made 500 rupees in the entire game. Spent 20 on a sexy massage in Gerudo land and that was most of my money gone.
You should prepare elaborate food and elixir to sell, not hard to get 500 money that way.

Just hunt some animals and fish and prepare some dishes, you can sell them from 20 to 50 dollars per piece.

You should swim in ingredients if you pick up everything you see when exploring.

Also Mining, break the Black rocks in mines for easy materials for money, I've gotten Diamonds from those worth a good 500 each, Saphirres and Rubys as well

As for me, I've just unlocked 3 of the 4 Great Fairies and gonna take a break for the new Destiny Season tonight, just starting to feel a bit burnt out after 50 hours and a break would be good

That is already a bit more time consuming because you have to find caves, but animals and ingredients are fucking everywhere.
