My plan is to do a group outing with non-gamer friends to KFC and then scan everyone else's order.

I think the one time I payed for a cosmetic was with SFV for Cammy's battle costume, but that was something I'd look at for over 100 hours.
I guess it makes sense for Diablo if you are going to stick with a particular skin , but why are people so obsessed with cosmetics is beyond me. It's the most meaningless crap given that the game already comes with a ton of good looking loot.

Seems they really scraped the bottom of the barrel with KFC to have someone agree to put Diablo promotions alongside their fastfood. Apparently companies shipping a complete game without any microtransactions, loot boxes, battle passes, in game stores, early access passes, weird promos, is something of a rarity these days. At the same time it helps keeps the base game costs lower presumably because there are enough people willing to fork out cash for these practices.

I do like proper expansions, will happily pay for those.

The battle pass seems like a waste of money? Is it best to just buy the Standard Edition of the game? I'm playing on PC if it matters.
I bought the premium edition for the 4 day early access which will unlock June 1st if you travel to New Zealand and it was just $10 more than the deluxe for the accelerated season pass

I feel like if you're going to bother doing the season play, you might as well do the battle pass and get the rewards for doing the seasonal play. If you're just going to do the campaign and that's it, then the battle pass seems a waste.

You can always upgrade if you hear good things during the early access. I'm basing my upgrade on some real world feedback on server issues and quality of the game/BP.

I don't think you'll have to do the NZ trick for this game. It's a global release time. Same time for everyone. 7PM Eastern for me I think.

I remember them joking in the livestream about what time things unlocked and they even mentioned the travel to NZ hack but glad to see a global launch

I think I know the answer to this but... if I buy the ultimate edition for PC, and decide to double dip, do I need to also buy the ultimate on PS5/XSX? I mean... how would cross-progression work in this scenario?

Cross progression worked perfectly in the beta.

I’m not playing solo. I’m playing co-op with my spouse and she told me not to spend the extra $30. I’m fine with that, but then I had make her her own Battle.net account with a my own email account. Now I’ve got two battle.net accounts. She got mad I advanced in the beta before she got to try it. Walking on egg shells, but at least we’ll enjoy Diablo IV together. 🙃

They said the only thing that doesn't carry over to all platforms is the early access period. So if you buy the game on Ultimate for PC you get early access + the goodies + battle pass. if you buy standard on xbox/ps5 then you get all your same goodies+battlepass but no early access. you can just buy the standard on the other platforms if you have ultimate on one besides early access.

Battle pass doesn't even come out til start of season 1. so you have til mid/late july to decide if you want to buy the battle pass. standard is just fine if you don't care about the 4 days early access.

I don't think that trick will do anything for this game. It should unlock at the same time for everyone. It's June 1st for the west and June 2nd for the east.

Looking forward to this big time, just can't decide the first class. Druid, Rogue or Barbarian. The idea of pure melee and trying to run down a Treasure Goblin keeps me up at night.

I like how it is now, but still wonder if they should have allowed a different controller config with a modifier button. What are your thoughts on that, GAF?

Could always see it in an expansion - introduce two new classes, and add 2-3 skills to all existing classes and the ability to access more skills directly as well.

I want to see at least 3 expansions with 6 added classes for a total of 10+ classes, that'd be awesome.

I wanted to upgrade to deluxe, i could just pay the difference from standard but no longer see the option, is the option not available anymore?

Wow, just under 2 weeks away for us non premium/deluxe package plebs waiting until 6/6. I just had to replace my home AC components so my entertainment budget will be a bit more limited for a while. At least i'll be fighting the demons of hell in comfort?

Do you guys have you're leveling plans in place yet or are you going to wing it?

Personally, I built out a few potential leveling plans that I might take, but for the most part, I think my experience is going to be dictated by what items I happen to find and what new skills and skill combinations feel good to me as I get past level 25. As a barb, I want to aim for a Whirlwind-centered build in the endgame because that was the beta build that I found the most entertaining and powerful, but until I get there almost anything else is potentially viable. The only thing that I have consistently between my potential leveling builds is that I have all the shouts because I am going to be doing lots of party play, and the benefits that shouts have on other party members is crazy good.

Damn it's really finally happening isn't it? I'll be on holidays on release date so I'll miss the first week (and the server downs I hope😅😂)... Now I'm just unsure where to play, pc or consoles? I'm feeling the itch to get back to pc gaming and d4 could sincerely be the catalyst for it... Choices... Choices 🤔🤔

The main point of consideration is if you have a good enough PC to run the game as well as your preferred input method. On PC you can use both M/KB or controller. On consoles it's controller only. However, on consoles you can also play with a friend on the same console simultaneously, if that's important to you.

I have a general plan but haven't really laid out specifics. The only legendary aspects you're guaranteed are the ones from dungeons and you can use them all you want provided you can pay for them. So I'm making a bleed barb using those and will adjust as necessary based on what legendaries drop during play.

I really wanted to play druid but I just wasn't feeling it during beta so sticking with the tried and true Barb.

Local coop isn't important for now, kids too young 😂 I do have a good enough pc to play it, actually I'm missing a GPU (sold at a premium during COVID) and d4 could be the chance to move back to pc (not so sure I still like console gaming😅), I bought d3 3 times (pc, ps and Xbox) because at first I missed controller support on pc (diablo feels way better on controller for me) then because I moved to consoles gaming, this time I would like to focus on 1 platform even if luckily the game support cross save and cross play

True, the only items I "rely" on in my leveling builds are the ones I can get from the Codex of Power. Everything else is up to RNGeesus.

Druid might not be that bad in the long run. I think it starts slow, but a lot of the high profile streamers suspect that Druid will be godlike in the endgame, and I suspect they have insider info regarding that. Besides, when you look at the kinds of legendary powers Druids have access too, some of them are kind of crazy.

I don't mean anything regarding their strength, just how it feels to play them. Similar feeling for Necro even when they were bonkers strong in the 2nd beta. Just not my thing. Though it's certainly possible later stuff will feel better to me. Ultimately this is all testing for what to do for the first season anyways.

Do you or anyone else happen to know if you can take a local play game and also play online with a friend or two? To put that another way, two people would be playing locally on the same console, but an online friend would join their game as well. Is that possible?

98% sure you can do that because if you couldn't, that would be incredibly stupid.

I see what you mean. I agree, feeling is very important. I like smashy, which is why I'm going Barb.

I've got a nice storm druid leveling build, I'll use that for my first go. Anyways for the first run I want to take my time and enjoy the story. There's also some nice legendary aspects for that build that can be obtained by completing dungeons and then I'll go from what else I find along the way.

Druid seems a beast later on in the game when paragon opens up

Will this launch the same way as D2 resurrected will? As in servers getting hammered and having to wait 20minutes to play etc? Also is there any point of the battle pass if you are just playing through the normal story?
