Haven't tried remote play in years, used to make good use of it on Vita at work with PS4 several years back. May try this to get more use out of the PS5, but not for £200
Same song when both VR headsets and the Edge were launching. They're all successful. Meanwhile, Playstation ecosystem gets streamlined and there's still the new Pulse headsets releasing that further it even more with Link. Or, you can use existing accessories Since Sony doesn't lock their audio or remote play and let's you use what you like.
To me, the most disappointing thing is that it doesn't have back buttons. I'm hoping someone will release a mod like the dualsense one and I can add them myself. I don't see an issue otherwiseLike, I look at this and I see a perfect backlog killer. As long as it works well I will be very happy with it.
Of course they would. If this was an xbox thing, they would fake overhype it and pretend they love it. They won’t be buying it but will downplay it, haters gonna hate. PlayStation living rent free in their heads.Of course catlady likes this post
The Vita died because as you said, no support, especially from 3rd parties. Why make the same mistake and release a new vita clone? With the Portal, you have your entire PS5 catalog at your disposal. You just need someone to insert the disc for you if you’re away from home. This product still baffles me, it's literally Sony's Wii-U but with no interesting gimmick to justify its existence. Much less the ridiculous $200 price tag. Sony would have done better to release a new handheld and push remote play. Instead they just let the Vita die with no support and spit this out instead.
So what's the benefit of this over other devices that you can use to stream PS5 to?
Slap a £15 Neogrip on the Switch and you have looks and comfort. There’s nothing you can add to this to fix the uggo.
Well, that's your take on it. I don't think there was anything condescending or tone-deaf about what I said. I merely shared my take on this product, and sure it was long but that's how I always write so deal with it.Drizzle, my man, it's literally OK, you can like or dislike a product as much as you want, thing is, when someone, anyone , starts a long winded rant it just becomes... unnecessary and kinda tone deaf, I mean, do you think that your mega-rant/opinion is going to change people's minds ? Besides, it comes off as incredibly condescending
It's not the "why", it's the tone my man and something that you do frequently in most of your posts/threads.
Just...try to take it easy friend, that's all.
See, this is what I mean. If it's okay for others to gush over this thing then it's okay for me to say why I think it's garbage. Why do you react to is as if I'm trying to personally gaslight you into not buying it? Do whatever you want, lol. But I'm gonna share my opinion regardless because this isn't an echo chamber.Preorder cancelled, you’ve changed my mind.
I love when people on GAF argue about other people buying products. I didn’t buy a PSVR2 cause I thought it was overpriced, had little games I wanted to play etc.
I didn’t go and bitch to people about why that was. Let people spend their money the way they want. Why do you care so much
subjective. What if I have 200$ to waste?200 dollars on something that you know deep down is not worth it.
Bro, it goes without saying that whatever opinion that I have is subjective by virtue of it being an opinion.subjective. What if I have 200$ to waste?
Also.... 200$ is nothing in 2023. Inflation is a bitch
You said "200 dollars on something that you know deep down is not worth it."Bro, it goes without saying that whatever opinion that I have is subjective by virtue of it being an opinion.
Why does the look of anything bother you? Why not live in a mud hut, drive a shit heap car and breed with a fat ugly specimen? Why do the looks of a console even bother you?
What are you gonna do with it?
Well, first of all, that was just me speculating why do these people reacted so strongly about what I said earlier. You said "200 dollars on something that you know deep down is not worth it."
That doesn't sound like expressing your opinion lol.
but whatever. I shouldn't be ass about this
If you can actually use this thing anywhere with an internet connection, that's cool. People will get some use out of it.On a more serious note : i hope this thing succeeds and i also hope that Microsoft does something similar since they also have the proper infrastructure and services (Xcloud/console streaming).
Nobody expects you to write "in my opinion" each time.Well, first of all, that was just me speculating why do these people reacted so strongly about what I said earlier.
Second of all, I'm not gonna write "in my opinion" 15 times per post just to make sure that the person who reads it doesn't get offended and understands that it's an opinion and not me proclaiming unquestionable truth. I'm not gonna play that stupid game. You're an adult, you should understand what is an opinion and what is a fact.
Why does the look of anything bother you? Why not live in a mud hut, drive a shit heap car and breed with a fat ugly specimen?
Doesn't it use the same tech as Cloud? I mean you connect to Playstation 5 and you can stream a game right?
I might be missing something here.
Your post had no point.Nobody expects you to write "in my opinion" each time.
lol whatever man
the only thing here that doesn't have a point is your dick. now move along and you can stop having last word.Your post had no point.
the only thing here that doesn't have a point is your dick.
You're right, big hogs don't have pointy ends. Unlike your floppy noodle.the only thing here that doesn't have a point is your dick. now move along and you can stop having last word.
Ok, why have a nice looking phone or nice looking rug? Why have a nice looking picture frame? Why have a nice looking cushion?Seriously?
A handheld console being compared to those?
I will, thanks.Do whatever you want
But I'm gonna share my opinion regardless because this isn't an echo chamber
And I did. Maybe try reading it without malding over every sentence.Theres a way to share your opinion like an adult and not some whiny baby.
I do have PSVR2
Remind me, how much is the Steam Deck again? so, if I'm interested in playing my PS5 games anywhere in the house I should use a Steam Deck? weird take, that thing is over twice the price, heavier, doesnt have dualsense controls, isnt 1080p (yes, I know, OLED, I'll give you that even though OLED can suffer from burn in and can suffer from smearing although they likely have a better screen than my TV which suffers from that), likely worse battery life (not sure until we get real world battery life from both), why exactly is this better for PS5 remote play?DOA after valve announced steam deck oled
Huge price difference between the 2 items. This is $200 while the new Steamdeck is probably more than double.DOA after valve announced steam deck oled
Nope. I already have a steam deck. I’m not shelling out another $500 just for oled.DOA after valve announced steam deck oled
Well, if that's how you interpreted my criticism of this "handheld" then I'm absolutely positive that you're just too fragile to handle it and need positive reinforcement from strangers every time you spend money on something, just to be sure that it wasn't a waste.
Why did you waste your money on that? You could have just got a meta quest or just went outside and experienced real reality? What were you thinking, that thing was £500!!! 2.5 times the price of the portal, some people honestly.
"I'm very happy with my PSVR2, and I have Quest too because I'm not poor."

because I'm not poor

It's not a bait, It's just my take on it. I know that many people around here would rather stay sealed away in echo chambers but that doesn't mean that anyone who will have a different opinion is trying to "bait" you. I haven't even commented on the commercial performance of this device and I don't really care about that, so I don't know why you felt the need to brag about sales numbers on Sony's behalf.
In any case, it simply doesn't sound like a very practical device, especially for that price. It feels like it was created specifically with a Japanese market in mind but for most Western countries, it's more of a curiosity that doesn't have much practical use outside of your living room. But at that point, if your family is hogging the TV all the time, why wouldn't you just use a regular tablet with a much cheaper controller attachment or a laptop? Did you really need Sony to sell you an overpriced accessory to get you out of that pickle?
Besides, it's just another example of Sony accessories that are way overpriced in general, not to mention that they basically force you into using that shit. I bought enough of it already so I'm speaking from experience here. I do have PSVR2, I have two different controllers, I have the Pulse headset, and while all of them have a practical application within the PS5 ecosystem, the quality of craftsmanship does feel pretty flimsy and underwhelming, to say the least. If I had the option to buy better headphones within the price range of a Pulse headset, I'd do it in a heartbeat because I could absolutely get a much better sound for that price. But nope, I have to use Pulse because that's pretty much the only wireless headset that works with PS5 without any hassle (or at least it was the only option at the time when I bought it, I didn't check if there were any alternatives released since then).
And it's a similar story in the case of Portal - for a 200-buck tablet that can't do much of anything save for streaming games from my console, I absolutely expect it to have an OLED screen at least. Not to mention a decent battery life and the ability to work with any wireless headphones. Otherwise, what am I paying for if not the brand? It's basically like buying Adidas sneakers.
I'm also not really sold on a promise that cloud streaming might be available at some point in the future maybe.
Well, that's your take on it. I don't think there was anything condescending or tone-deaf about what I said. I merely shared my take on this product, and sure it was long but that's how I always write so deal with it.
You reacting to it so defensively and trying to paint me as some sort of raving maniac instead of providing a constructive counter-argument simply tells me that I'm right and you're just feeling insecure that you spent (or want to spend) 200 dollars on something that you know deep down is not worth it.
See, this is what I mean. If it's okay for others to gush over this thing then it's okay for me to say why I think it's garbage. Why do you react to is as if I'm trying to personally gaslight you into not buying it? Do whatever you want, lol. But I'm gonna share my opinion regardless because this isn't an echo chamber.
Yeah, yeah. Who fucking cares.
Who the fuck brought up how rich anyone is?
My post was sarcastic quite clearly. You’re the one who has an issue with how others spend their money. you don’t like the product, we get it. Hell, I don’t know if I’ll like it until I get my hands on it but you know what, I’ll send it back if I don’t like it and buy a tablet and a controller like you suggested . Thanks for your input.
Solderfree Gullikit hall effect sticks cost like 15 bucks for the steamdeck. Now imagine it happens to the far more expensive Ally or Steamdeck.
Like I said to that other guy already - just because I don't put "in my opinion" in front of my every statement doesn't meant that it's not an opinion. It goes without saying that whenever you provide a subjective statement, then clearly it's just an opinion that you can agree or disagree with.C'mon man, have some self-awareness at the very least...
The problem is that most of the time, you present opinion as fact and that's no bueno - and it's not in this thread only but also on all the other threads that you usually start...
It's like, you usually sound pissed and kind of unhinged in your rants, again, there's no need to take everything so seriously/at heart, that's why i said to take it easy.
Sorry if i sound like an asshole, it's just that there's no need for long-winded rants every time you wan to express your opinion about which games you think are deserving their praise or not, which gadgets are useful or rubbish or whether you've been thread-banned/had your posts removed etc etc, the constant whining gets oh-so-tiring after a while, you know ?
There's no "defending" here, i mean, i won't buy this friggin' thing since i recently got a tablet but i'm one of those weird people that actually think this shit is cool, that's why i'd also like for Microsoft to present their own version of a streaming portable device, Xcloud on the go with proper controls ? sign me the fook up.
Like i said earlier, it's not the "why" but the way you usually go about most things.
I do tend to talk positively about a lot of things but people remember the negatives better because it stirs up stronger emotions in them, that's all. Spicy drama will always attract more attention.Take care and take it easy man, there's no need to be critical and cynic all the damned time.
Is there an actual interest in this? Even if you paid me $200 I don't think I'd use this.
I honestly wouldn't even want something like this for free....I'd use it for like a weekend and then it would be a 'desk drawer exclusive'
It’s not meant to be a Steam deck or Switch competitor. It’s a completely different device aimed at a specific target audience. It's the constantly needing internet connection that kills it for me. I bring my Steam Deck on work trips and sometimes there's no wifi or its a guest wifi that sucks. Even just brought it in to the dealer while my car was getting a recall done. I can play it truly anywhere. With this, I'm limited. I would never want that.
The crowd jerking off Hall effect sticks like if it was some holy grail. And no. The fact you can open the device, potentially damage it to replace a part is obvious. Of course you can fix anything. But as simple as it might seem, not everyone will do it. And even if I can do it, I would feel like a fool for doing it… unless it happens after years and years maybe.Solderfree Gullikit hall effect sticks cost like 15 bucks for the steamdeck.
