Haven't tried remote play in years, used to make good use of it on Vita at work with PS4 several years back. May try this to get more use out of the PS5, but not for £200

To me, the most disappointing thing is that it doesn't have back buttons. I'm hoping someone will release a mod like the dualsense one and I can add them myself. I don't see an issue otherwise

The Vita died because as you said, no support, especially from 3rd parties. Why make the same mistake and release a new vita clone? With the Portal, you have your entire PS5 catalog at your disposal. You just need someone to insert the disc for you if you’re away from home.

Well, first of all, that was just me speculating why do these people reacted so strongly about what I said earlier.
Second of all, I'm not gonna write "in my opinion" 15 times per post just to make sure that the person who reads it doesn't get offended and understands that it's an opinion and not me proclaiming unquestionable truth. If you can actually use this thing anywhere with an internet connection, that's cool. People will get some use out of it.
Several years ago I was kinda impressed with the Xbox cloud stuff and just tried it out a bit. I got a $5 plastic clip that hooks to the Xbox controller and holds your phone. Had my nice phone screen, and the full ergonomics of an Xbox controller and it cost me next to nothing.
This seems to be doing the same thing, so there is a use for it. It's just a more expensive way of doing it. If people want to buy it, go for it. I do think the cloud stuff was neat technologically, but haven't had tons of use for it. Whenever I am traveling, the internet connection in hotel room wi-fi was never good enough so the Switch was more practical anyway. If you have a big house and good wi-fi and want to play RPGs or puzzle games in bed or something, there is some appeal there.

Remind me, how much is the Steam Deck again? so, if I'm interested in playing my PS5 games anywhere in the house I should use a Steam Deck? weird take, that thing is over twice the price, heavier, doesnt have dualsense controls, isnt 1080p (yes, I know, OLED, I'll give you that even though OLED can suffer from burn in and can suffer from smearing although they likely have a better screen than my TV which suffers from that), likely worse battery life (not sure until we get real world battery life from both), why exactly is this better for PS5 remote play?
Again, say it with me..... PlayStation Portal is a 'PS5' accessory
(edit: I'll probably buy Steam Deck OLED also, still isnt as good for PS5 remote play)

I'm very happy with my PSVR2, and I have Quest too because I'm not poor. In fact, I'm just taking a break from playing online matches in Crossfire on it and it's fucking great.
I hope you'll find the confidence to enjoy your Portal as much as I enjoy my PSVR2.

I've been using ps5 remote play, and I'm getting this, but it made me think about my Xbox. So after having an xbox for awhile, I just recently tried their remote play, which I didn't even know they had . . . and it immediately pissed me off cause I was trying to play Fable 2 and apparently they can't mirror 360 games to a remote play device.

Like I said to that other guy already - just because I don't put "in my opinion" in front of my every statement doesn't meant that it's not an opinion. It goes without saying that whenever you provide a subjective statement, then clearly it's just an opinion that you can agree or disagree with.
It's pretty ironic that you'd accuse me of being unhinged just because I tend to waffle a lot or sometimes write in an impassioned manner, and yet every time I share an opinion that doesn't sit well with somebody, then either I'm being personally attacked or someone flips out as if I just kicked their pet or something, lol. Most of the time people are just projecting their own feelings about what I had to say because it made them angry or thought that it was stupid. And fuck it, that's fair enough, I don't expect everyone to agree with me. But at least have an intelligent response instead of just attacking my character.
I do tend to talk positively about a lot of things but people remember the negatives better because it stirs up stronger emotions in them, that's all. Spicy drama will always attract more attention.

It's the constantly needing internet connection that kills it for me. I bring my Steam Deck on work trips and sometimes there's no wifi or its a guest wifi that sucks. Even just brought it in to the dealer while my car was getting a recall done. I can play it truly anywhere. With this, I'm limited. I would never want that.

It’s not meant to be a Steam deck or Switch competitor. It’s a completely different device aimed at a specific target audience.
First of all it’s not a standalone console but a Ps5 accesory, just like the DS Edge.
While it’s true that the scope and usability of this this thing is truly limited (I’m saying this as a S Deck user myself) if the remote play experience is seamless and better than chiaki on SD, I feel it’s a win for Sony.

It's a shame there is still not a date for my country.
I will be using it daily so my wife can still use the TV and we can both be in the living room and chat. It's a great machine for Diablo IV, company of heroes, MGS vr training and trophy hunting in general.
I will still use the TV for first runs of cinematic games, but it's great for everything else.

The crowd jerking off Hall effect sticks like if it was some holy grail. And no. The fact you can open the device, potentially damage it to replace a part is obvious. Of course you can fix anything. But as simple as it might seem, not everyone will do it. And even if I can do it, I would feel like a fool for doing it… unless it happens after years and years maybe.
With that line of thinking nothing ever would be bad because you can replace everything !!!
