I bought 1 and 2 dual pack. On sale currently.

I will definitely pick this up eventually. Just too much to play to jump into another large game right now.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Anyone whose downloaded it already, what's the final install size on either Xboxes?

Just bought it (standard edition). It's downloading now on my Series X. 137.55Gb download.

stranger things have happened

You may be getting that. But I doubt Larian will be selling BG3 to GP for $5M as MS initially suggested.

I've downloaded the game and I've played a little bit on both my Series X and my Series S. So now I've played the game a small amount on PS5 and the two Series consoles. I imported my cloud save from my play time on the PS5 to my Series X. My initial impressions are that the Series X version in performance mode has a bit better image quality than the PS5 version I played a few weeks ago. (Just so you know I've played under 2hrs on the PS5 - using the trial option via PSN Deluxe - so I've only played the initial area in the flying craft and some of the ravaged beach area.) But strangely I feel like the PS5 version in quality mode looked a bit better than the Series X version. It seems a little sharper and possibly a little more detailed (but that could just be bad memory regarding the details). In fact there is very little difference between the quality mode and the performance mode on Series X. Quality mode is marginally sharper and there is a little less aliasing. So either performance mode is running at a higher resolution on Series X or either the Series X in quality mode is running at a lower resolution than the PS5 version (doubtful, since the options say it's at 1440p) or they're using a different anti-aliasing method on Series X that's giving it a softer image quality. The frame rate in both modes on the Series X seemed really good from the little I've played of it so far (just played around on the ravaged beach section on Series X).

The Series S version looks generally ok. I played it on my 1080p LG gaming monitor where it looks generally acceptable but not outstanding. I think it's safe to say that it's running at sub-1080p because image quality doesn't look like a native 1080p imo. Graphics options look to be reduced compared to the PS5 & Series X as well because I think it may have lower texture detail and lower shadow quality. There was also a lot of texture pop-in on characters during dialogue cutscenes and shadows popped in and out when I was running around on ravaged beach. I ran into a cave and the graphics seemed to get more stable I think - there wasn't any shadow pop in in the cave. The performance though was really good (it's running at 30fps). Mostly rock solid 30fps but it did stutter a few times on ravaged beach; however at that point it was syncing up my cloud save so I think the stutters are likely the save sync system and not the game's actual frame rate stuttering. When in combat, the frame rate was good as well. Also the loading time when going from ravaged beach into the cave was really fast.

These are just my first impressions from very limited play time on all consoles at the very beginning of the game. However, I would advise anyone who's thinking of picking this up solely to play on Series S to perhaps wait for Digital Foundry & NXGamer etc. to do an analysis. It seemed Ok from the little I've played but since it clearly has pop-in issues already it may have other technical issues in other areas of the game. So hopefully their analysis will bring to light any other issues it might have.

I just recently tried to replay Wasteland 3 and I can't stand the combat. I liked Wasteland when it first came out, but I think I don't have the patience for turn-based games anymore. I wish it was coming to Game Pass so I could see if I don't hate Balders Gate 3 combat. I'm going to at least wait until there is a sale.

I really liked Wasteland 3, although there were elements that were not so great. But when it comes to combat, BG3 is different at least in one crucial aspect - you don't get into combat with the enemy having the first turn, if you're not so inclined. In BG3 you may be able to stealth/position your characters really much in advance, which gives a huge advantage. As opposed to Wasteland 3, where ah - the enemies spot you and will take shots at you before you can do anything.

Having said that, if turn-based isn't your thing, maybe it isn't your thing. You're missing a great game though. And of course the bear sex.

No problem, simply pay a Series X to everyone who only has a Series S.
Hey, if you want to buy a crap system, then get a Series S. The bigger brother is better. I want the best experience for any game I buy and it's 0% chance of it being on a Series S. I gave it away when I had it.
