If you need an hour long video back and forth saying one is better than the other in some ways, etc, they are both in the same general space/league. Both games actually look and play at a high level, excellent work by both teams.
One is a next (current) gen only game. That is why, at least around here, this is a bigger deal than it would have otherwise been.

Regardless of that, the two machines have proven to be similar in terms of raw power. Optimization will only get you so far, regardless of cross gen.

You're on another planet man. GT7 looks better than Forza 8 on PC, which still has tons of issues. There's yet another thread about it today on reddit.
No, i have 200h in both games, don't need a reddit post to judge both games graphics. And i didn't say that the game was issue free, i said that they have improved the pc version alot since launch which is true.

Here the latest update with improved RTAO, RT reflections and materials.

FM8 PC is a completely f**ked game in the looks department. It has all the energy of contractors turning deliverables in at 3 PM on Friday, and their T10 supervisor shrugging and saying, "good enough." And I say this as a huge Forza fan from 2 on, but unless someone at T10 starts to give a shit there's no way it's going to catch up to GT.
Did you see some of the older tracks in GT7? You think that GT7 doesn't have quality issues? Did you see some of the gameplay lods in GT7? You can point out alot of issues in both games if you search on reddit or GTplanet. Sure Forza launched in a shitty state and was one of the worst launches from AAA studio. I have shat on them and pointed out lots of bugs and glitches it had at launch, but im also seeing some nice improvements they make with the latest patches. GT7 is far less glitchy/buggy which is true and i praised them for that.

That pretty embarrassing for the forza studio, gt7 is a cross-game gen game and they were really going all in on the next gen standard-raising visuals of the new forza motorsport, and yet the sheer lack of polish is just disappointing. Past Forza games did much better overall in terms of polish and coherency...I would hope microsoft would let one of the few great major ips they have in hand to be polished to perfection.

GT7s tree placement - that’s top tier dedication - impressive! Forza definitely takes some artistic liberties there.

Nice video, but could easily have been half the size!

Has to be said, Forzas photo mode is horrendously bad and outdated, and shouldn’t be used as any basis for in game graphics comparisons - especially when zooming in when we all know it keeps LODs based on the initial camera position (refer to the tree that looks like a big leaf of lettuce).

Raw GT7 car models are unmatched, but have a significantly lower LOD in game. Maybe the PS5 Pro can improve that?

They tried to be neutral and be nice to both games as expected. But honestly GT7 is a slightly improved GTS and Forza I think has made GT7 look relevant instead🤦‍♂️ I have already seen enough comparison from multiple sources but definitely they put some effort in this video. Not sure why they did not talk much about performance and resolution much. Forza TAA or whatever upscaling they are using is really poor, GT7 clearly looks much sharper. Another poor decision was to add to lights and trees, they even modelled tress wrong especially in Le mans that do not exist IRL 🤦‍♂️

That's a fair response. I've definitely seen some improvements with Update 2 and 3, but what annoys me the most is that T10 is sitting on a build internally that they use to publish bullshots to social media on a constant basis, with LODs and sharpness that is simply not attainable on either PC or XSX.

GT7 has issues here and there, but you kind of have to go hunting for them. With FM8, they're right in your face, showing a complete lack of QA and polish.

(I should add, I think it was a HUGE mistake on T10's part to not offer MSAA. All of FM8's antialiasing options are substantially blurry in the mid-field--the place where you're almost constantly looking in a race. All the reasons they mentioned for switching AA methods in their Digital Foundry interview don't hold up under scrutiny).

TBF this isn't as bad as the comparison makes it look.

Those are style 67 rims and there are actually two variations 18" and 19". 18s on left and 19s on right and thats how they look IRL.
Yes and the 18's look too small imo on the M3 IRL.

Surprised John and generaly DF chose winner (gt7) but imo thats better, there will be haters but it was so good and quite deep comparison.

what about sophie?
It still sucks. Far more racing games out there with way better AI that isn't being done with machine learning. Hell even the AI iracing added not too long ago is leagues ahead of anything GT has done. At least GT has stars in the night sky in the correct locations. /s

Looks kinda fake with those 'points' resembling a star but better than no effect!
If you know a little about camera lenses than you know how it looks on a camera with small aperture (f8 to f22) to keep everything in focus. Forza tries to simulate a real camera, just like they do with the raindrops on the screen when its raining.

I know about that. I just think it looks more like it is in real life in Gran Turismo. Don't worry.

One hour later, It still bugs me that T10 CEO was PROMOTED to lead all XBS after this disaster. Because T10 problems are not tech or even gameplay-related. It’s a stark lack of any sort of culture inside the studio. Almost every visual element in FM is simply half-backed, half-assed or just plain wrong. And many mistakes are carried over since FM4, ffs.

I swear Xbox HR is all about failing upwards.

This is one of my favorite effects in Gran Turismo, the sun reflecting off the car

It looks exactly as it does to our eyes in real life.

Truly encapsulates the divine radiance gracing the splendor of GT, as the sun's celestial glow bestows its benediction upon the masterpiece, while Forza languishes in the obscure penumbra of its overshadowed existence.
