Tekken 8 is a crash fest on consoles

It’s a lot more than one person. Day 1 shouldn’t be an excuse for crashes. After all these companies are all too happy to take customers’ money Day 1, no?

It can really happen to anyone, doesn't negate all the hard work Namco did on the game in 24 hrs. I mean you can bet Namco didn't want this to happen either. It's deserves a bit more of a chance than that and if you are going to out of your way to publicly slam it, it should at least be clear. A little patience goes a long way, the irony is the OP probably would have enjoyed the game if they waited a few days, it's not like we all don't have a ton of other games to play.

Playing against people online is waaaay to important in this for me to buy day 1 knowing it has this issue.

I'll wait.

For those not crashing, I hope you guys are liking it though, Tekken is one of the few fighting games I still buy. I use to play matches while I was doing tech support at Comcast lol

(customer had to factory reset modem, its time to put that mic on mute and give theses kids dat work) lol

Watching JDCR stream and there are bouts of online crashes but not that frequent. It’s definitely a server issue.

Sucks for those playing online day 1 but I made it very clear on my Tekken hype thread I was going for the SP content first and foremost. I expect online to be fixed once I’m done milking SP.

One person has lots of crashes and declares the game trash for everyone. Ok.
People have zero patience these days, I paid my $100 I demand immediate satisfaction.
Be damned if it's one day of issues, the internet, or just my machine, or just bad luck, off it goes, and I'll take the time to slam it on the internet too instead of just waiting a day or two to see if things improve.
Can't even be bother to qualify where it crashes (online) in the title so that everyone who doesn't read the thread just thinks it's bad all over and you can't even play single player.

Maybe next time try: "Is anyone else having issues online with Tekken 8 today?" instead of calling it a crash fest.

Protip: Most online modes are terrible on launch day.
This is just worse because it can trigger a hard crash.

But there is multiple comprehensive single player modes that are playable.

I expect this to be resolved quite soon, either with a patch, or just naturaly through less network traffic.

No idea if the PC version is bad, but the PS5 and XSX versions of Tekken 8 are crashing disasters. No idea what reviewers played because there’s no way Namco should’ve shipped this.

Most of the crashes I’ve had is when it’s trying to connect to an online opponent. It’s like DOA5, which crashed when trying to connect as well.

Will there be an apology Tweet from Harada?
in the closed beta and demoes it was perfectly fine.

sounds like a rushed day 1 patch

Crashing is definitely not limited to online. I’m on the latest AMD drivers and get UE-Polaris crash about 60% of the time when any match is starting, online or offline.

Don't have this problem. On PC too and been playing for 2 hours
Well ive just requested a refund, not siting here waiting when paid £90 for it, not to play, considering every other program and games play fine with the sound, same happened with demo didnt get past start screen till patched, it just means now ill just wait till it in steam sale before jumping in again to try

Definitely server issues. Not too surprising considering it was a global launch.

We should bring back local couch multiplayer. That was so much more fun than anonymous online stuff. It was certainly dangerous sometimes though depending on who you play, things could get violent 🤣

Stop simping for Namco. They won't send you a body pillow of your favorite waifu to hump. They wouldn't let reviewers play the online mode in a COMPETITIVE fighting game to ensure they got 90% Metacritic scores. They deceptively hid a broken part of their COMPETITIVE FIGHTING GAME from reviewers because they knew there was a client issue causing hard crashes with bad data from network connections.

You really believe that. You're absolutely sure they deliberately released the game with this issue as a known defect and knew this would occur on day one.

Cool.

So after a VERY slow and long download/installation on Steam, I loaded the game up, let it do its own thing for judging settings, and I have to say that the game is pretty optimized. I'm running an ancient (by today's standards) 2070 Super and I can get solid 60fps at 1440p with zero dips, even on the more active stages like the meteor. All settings seem to be set to "high" by the benchmark. It looks great minus some weird ghosting effect that I only really notice on the jungle stage when the characters move dramatically in front of the water. I was worried I would have to dip down to 1080p or else the GPU fans would be screaming at me the whole time, but the game is running great. I didn't go online so I had zero crashes.

Put in a few hours in practice mode, just trying out all of the characters. Still need some more time, but so far I'm leaning towards Victor/Xiaoyu/Jin. I promised myself I wouldn't just stick with Yoshimitsu again for the 8th time. I was exceedingly happy to see that his squid alien costume from 7 is in this game though. That was by far my favorite look for him.

Anyways, I'm happy with the game so far, going to dig into some story modes later and see how that goes. I heard that everyone gets a CGI ending again, which is awesome. They were my favorite parts of the first few Tekken games.

Good thing they hid online from all the reviewers.
The reviews I saw did play online but the online part of it is never going to be the same experience pre release.
Something they never did in the lead up is an open beta. Soul Calibur 6 and Street Fighter 6 did but T8 surprisingly didn't.

For me this is a non issue when a new fighting game hits. Generally the first week is all lab monster time to find a main, practice combos, etc.

I am sorry but this is just a sad post.

Just say you can't afford it. Or you don't like Tekken or anything that can be accepted as a logical answer.

From buying day one to wait 11 months for a black Friday deal because the game is huge it crashed their server...

This is just a sad post 😂
Never said the crashing was the only reason I didn't buy the game. No need to be weird .... don't see how not buying this game defines my financial situation lol

Wow, I could care less about Namco personally, just was tough to watch a grown person flail around like a 3yo who didn't get thier candy immediately. The outrage!!!

My first couple of matches in the demo was VS my girlfriend and she kicked my ass lol. She retired undefeated.

On PC if you rematch you would likely freeze. Just my experience. Tekken posted on twitter that it's due to too many players trying to match.

Happening on 3 platforms is inexcusable.

Then they shouldn’t take peoples money for those few days? They are certainly not shy about pushing for pre-orders.

They should have been prepared. And normally client won’t crash if network connection is unavailable in other MP games.

And a whopping one day latter it's fixed.
How will we ever get by. You must be one of those people that get mad at Sony or ms if thier networks are down for 4 hours.

I don’t generally play console based MP so no. However constant publisher shenanigans at release annoy the hell out of me considering those Ultimate Editions, Day 1 DLC and MTX.
