Tough call. I love the English voice cast personally. Something like Yakuza though I would only play in Japanese as I think in English it loses a certain something but FF7 both are good.
Yeah, generally I play all Japan games in Japanese but for FF it's different indeed. The English dub of FF16 was excellent and I played Remake in English also, so I am not sure what to do here

I used to think everything was better subbed until I started watching more dubs. Even bad dubs are not without merit, they grow on you
Can't agree there, if Im watching media I want it to be as good as possible rather than being so bad its funny, Dubs are just at a disadvantage by design due to having to go through translation and also having to restrict their word choice to things that fit in the same time space in another language, also the lack of oversight from the creator just mean that best they can only be good for a dub.

Unless the original is already shit its just a worse option.

not having to constantly read subtitles you pick up much more on the screen not having to gaze down during heavy action to read dialog.
I think a lot of online TV/Anime reactors often miss things because they watch a subbed show over the dub
I can't speak for your experience but the time It takes me to read a sub is just totally negligible and doesn't affect my watching at all I feel like most people miss more just by not paying attention. I cant imagine reading slow enough that it would.

You often at least in my experience have 2 lines of text at the bottom running the entire width of the screen, and it's not always simple straight forward text you're reading. And something can occur in a split second on the screen, a character blinks a certain way, someone in the background moves or whatever, and if you're focused at reading 2 lines of dialog at the bottom of the screen, especially on a very large display, there's no way you can take it all in perfectly, all the time. The worse really is when characters are talking intensely during heavy action.

It's just like people who think they can multitask and use their smartphones to play some gacha game or scoll instagram/facebook/whatever while they are watching a show, sure they're just quickly glancing down at their phone during what they think is a low key moment, but you're still going to miss subtle things as your attention is off the screen.

I actually find more often than not too dubs that are altered to provide a more natural delivery of the line in your language are better than a direct translation anyway that can be really stiff after being translated.

But I've seen tons of shows entirely through both ways and the number that I actually find to be superior dubbed has really surprised me. I kinda think a lot of people turn on the dub for like 1 minute or just a single episode and dismiss it, but I've found if you stick with it, it usually ends up being surprisingly well in the long term, unless it just actually sucks because there wasn't budget to have a good one.

Perhaps you cant, but it just takes almost nothing from me to read subs in my peripheral while watching a show. Like I said, i can't speak for your experience but mine is different.

From actually knowing the language I can so that no matter the show for every decent translation there is a mediocre one that is not more natural than a more direct translation.

No thanks. The game looks ambitious enough and I'd rather play it in 2024 than 2026. lol

One quick look at the most critically well received and best selling games over the past 3 years and none of them achieved that by emphasising perfect visuals over the fundamental offering of the game. So the market as a whole has made it clear what it wants.

Also you're essentially asking them to pump in even more money, sink more time and thus increasing risk when the industry is experiencing a downturn. So publishers will ignore what you want by protecting themselves with efficient development.

If you want hardware that can take advantange of UE5 then either wait for PS6 and skip most games this gen. :messenger_tongue:

Edit: I've seen other posts from you saying you don't even own a PS5 yet you seem so angry, so moving on. 🤡
Wait for ps6 to play curent engine games 🤡

I tried the demo, expecting not to like it, but it was actually fun. Still don't love the characters in their new form. The new characters are bad to abysmal.

On the other hand, the combat is very fun. Exploration will probably be fun, based on the demo. The world is very detailed, but there is something that is straining on the eyes. The soundtrack was solid. It's not a day 1 purchase, but it went from skip to play at some point.

I think a lot of online TV/Anime reactors often miss things because they watch a subbed show over the dub, but I guess it's just not as cool to watch things in a language you can understand. I'd be more up for it if they understood Japanese and just had the subs on for their audience, but to me it just comes over as trying to be cool, especially on a show that actually has a great dub.

Most JRPGs are better subbed however Final Fantasy is an outlier. SquareEnix has always cared about localisation and spends money on getting it right.

Was the second part of the demo kickin anyone elses butt on Normal?
I might just still suck at these games since FFXVI and FFVIIRemake are the only FF games I've played.
Easy made it too easy though.

Consensus seems to be that Rebirth will provide more challenge than Remake which was more challenging than XVI. I guess they made the decision as they expect the majority who are playing it to have experience with the systems from part 1 and probably feedback that the games could be harder.

I get the feeling I'll be toggling back and forth between Normal and Easy throughout the entire game.

They def. expect you to be kind of decent at Remake. Fights, namely the hunts, won't really end unless you do fish for the weaknesses, and use the focused attacks correctly. I gained my Remake knowledge and muscle memory back at some point, which made this demo a breeze actually. Even the full power Phoenix was beaten in one go. You can become far stronger if you pick up materials and upgrade your accessories, as well as get the rewards from Chadley.

Regular FFVII Remake skills do suffice, I beat the demo and VR missions this way. But you can also use the various improvements Rebirth offers to make it easier such as the synergy specials after doing like 2 or 3 ATB commands on 2 chars. And the heavily improved aerial combat, if you use this with Elemental+Lightning on the demo boss he will be far easier (and put Synergy+lightning on another character).

Elena comparison.

Top: Summer Games Fest (June 2023) trailer build
Bottom: Footage from this month, so likely the final build.

I can spot the addition of some kind of volumetric lighting or fog in the newer build, as well as hair movement. A few small changes to the rubble in the back as well.
Am I the only one who sees Tifa in a blond wig?

That whole death truly caused a shift in the industry with story approach, writing etc And it’s funny because Phantasy Star 2 & 4 did it first (but on a lesser scale).

Is this basically the Vader “I’m Your Father” of games? Like should it even be a spoiler at this point? The only other moment that feels somewhat almost as impactful (and shocking) I can think of after FF7 is that switch to Raiden in MGS2.

A couple guys at work were talking up Rebirth, but i am the only person with a purchase. I wish more people would just buy it ffs.

This is stupid. what is the point of keeping us waiting 2 days ? the game is fully downloadable and ready to be played. why we have to wait the exact second? I kinda hate things like this.

What kills me is that I have to avoid now everything FF7 related in the internet until I get my Steam version.

Good luck with that, me.
