Treating me like shit when all I want is some goddamn help and maybe some advice.

Advice?

No, no, you don't get it. In-houses are about stacking teams, trampling the newbies and less experienced and calling it fun times. Oh, and All Pick tryharding.

*shrug*

No wonder some people just go straight to Spectators and don't budge even if there's only one more slot to fill.

You solo queue?

You're crazy as hell.

I have not been able to play any in-house or team queue, aside from a 3vs3 with another gaffer. I guess it's because I'm from EU and you are mostly from US. Or maybe it's because I should go to Mumble first, I'll ask for the address next time. Or best, give me a PM :).

Is the item list here (http://www.heroesofnewerth.com/items.php) outdated?

I just played my first two games ever (nerve-wracking, awful at times, but also fun and enlightening). Anyway, I read on the official page that Staff of the Master can have any two of the +10 stat items. So I bought two Neophyte's Books in preparation. When the time came, I got the recipe (along with a glowstone) and.... nothing. I checked the ingame guide and it said I needed the +10str item, so I sold a book to buy it and it worked.

Is it wrong or does it just need to be any two different +10's?

It's really a shame you see it that way, cause it's really not. It might just be how you're perceiving the game, maybe cause you're either new to the game or how HoN-GAF goes about doing things, but it barely ever is trampling noobs, making fun of it, and trolling. There are only a handful of things that can decisively be called trolling in our inhouses. Here I am, in Mumble at this very moment, discussing how I think the inhouses have kind of fallen off the beaten path of somewhat trying. Nowadays, it's purely a casual fun-fest, or at least in my opinion it is.

I've already explained before that it's kind of difficult to help out someone while you're focusing on playing your own game. Get yourself heard if you can. While you may not see it, HoN-GAF is very friendly, welcoming, and helpful.

The thing is that to a new player, it may seem like we're tryharding, but a lot of the people you're playing with are already of a very high skill level, and it's somewhat difficult to tone that down a ton. I see that a lot of people in our inhouses play heroes they don't normally play, or a hero they are practicing, but of course they already know exactly what to do with that hero, and they're instead just practicing their execution with it.

In fact, when all the new players just came into HoN when it first went F2P, a lot of us made sure to go extra easy on the new players, and essentially leave them alone. Maybe that's something we should consider doing still now (perhaps not to the same extreme), but I think a lot of people expect that the people who are still sticking with the game kind of have an idea that the game moves very quickly, and at times can be quite unforgiving.

The reason people go to spectator isn't really because they want to avoid being trolled or something. A lot of people just want to watch, or just take a break. I think you're thinking into it a bit too much. I love our influx of new users, and I hope they stick around. But it is really necessary to relax a bit. You have to understand that it is difficult to hover over everyone, and needlessly bother them over their every mistake. It might be what you want in theory, but in practice it'd be nothing but annoying. There are a lot of players who call out for help, but when they are actually given advice, they take it poorly and assume other players think they are bad or useless. It's difficult to please everyone.

Lastly, I have to give all new players advice to stay active and ask questions. All of the players ask for help in specific things, whether they need help with hero builds, item builds, or what they need to be doing, and so on. I do it, and some of the best players on HoN-GAF do it. Otherwise, no one will ever know you're having trouble with something and won't be able to help out. Try not to get too down on the game. I, and everyone else, can guarantee that once you work out the game (though it may take a long time) it is incredibly rewarding and will be worth the work. Especially with DotA2 on the horizon since HoN is almost a carbon copy of DotA in every way.

Wtf exactly happened after I went to sleep last night? Things were going smoothly when I was there!
Honestly, nothing happened. Sorry to say it, but it's just MrMister lashing out a bit as usual. Not to point out MrMister, but a select few of players will get overly salty, and I really hope the new players don't think this is the norm.

MrMister you won your last 3 games last night, why are you salty?

We really need to separate channels for teams during IHs. It's very hard to help out an inexperienced teammate when veterans on the opposite team can pick up on these cues so quickly and capitalize on them. This would also prevent some of the friendly trash talking from being misinterpreted by other people on chat.

A single IH game in itself shouldn't be used as an argument against playing with other GAFfers. You at least have to stick around for the second game because team compositions will be normalized and evened out after enough games. Unfortunately this is a big time sink that not everyone can commit to.

If you already have real-life friends in HON/DOTA/LOL and would rather play with them than IH with GAF, well congratulations you're one of the luckiest players online! You're already better off than most of HonGAF who may have absolutely no friends online to play with (or at most just 1 or 2).

Playing with GAF isn't mandatory but if you hang out in the channel you will get invited into TMM groups (could be basic, or megatryhard) or asked if you want to spec or fill in spots for an IH. The mumble channel right now can be intimidating and seem annoying for someone on the outside looking in, but I think this is because a lot of the players have reached the point wherein they're more comfortable with each other and are starting to take more liberties with their exchanges that people would usually reserve for their friends in real life.

P.S. I need more facebook and google+ friends to diversify my friends list. I do not discriminate and will gladly accept friend requests from people of any race and color, even LOL players

MEET ME MID BRO! You can bring your OP monkeyqueen that you paid real money for. Money that could have bought you a 10 piece chicken nugget combo at Wendy's, or a Spicy Chicken Deluxe meal at ChickFilA.

That would just be playing 1P practice mode, since you'll be too busy eating instead of playing!

I take it there was a record-breaking amount of mad and butthurt flowing from GAF in-house games today.[/IMG]

There was? I thought people were just having fun times. The 4v5 was match of the day. I don't know how MrMister can't have not enjoyed him self after that game. Will post some clips later after of Procarbine tanking a 5v1 moment were he would just not die.

Video footage of Alumnus being a feeder and Astroboy being a HoN traitor. Starts at ~3:00.

The team-fights were such massive explosions to me, one example at 33mins, how do you not lose your self or know what skills are being used.

LOL @ PuppetYuber DCing another IH game. Better get that sorted out with your ISP.

BZM are you a non-threatening adult with a facebook or google+ account? Do you have any asian friends or want one? Do you post pictures of non-asian women on your wall?

If your answer is YES to any of these questions, please send me a PM or message me in-game so that we can establish an online communication of friendship.

I can understand if you get frustrated about the IH games. No one buys a courier, no one really wards, and teams and heroes usually end up unbalanced (lack of AoE, no one picks an initiator, eclectic item/skill builds, etc.) They're about having fun. I understand that "fun" in some instances can mean winning (or dominating, because piggybacking on a win isn't all that satisfying either). But if you want to win, you should probably go play MM with Loki or Meeru. But for some of us, "fun" is just messing around. That's why it's no-stats AP.

I don't think we'll change the way we play IH's; it's about playing heroes we won't usually play, rushing an item we never build, pushing a lane while your team dies defending a tower, and playfully ribbing on others when they miss a Dev hook (or walk into one).

Didn't you even say you two sound alike?

Maybe they're twins??? The next GAF league (HON or DOTA2) should have twins leading each team, just because.
So many twins in HoNGaf. Meeru/Azuki, Loki/Thor, and astroboy/neki.

I've played 2 inhouses, it was fun so I encourage other new players to do the same! There was no drama nor noob torturing or something like that.

I didn't manage to finish my core build in either game (first one with plague rider, i did worse than I thought but not so bad) and then Moraxus, first time I picked him and at the end I managed to use him more or less OK (but creep kills were like less than 30).

The only problem is that I don't earn experience or coins to get more heros and level up to verified account, but who cares!

That does suck, but it makes sense. At the very least, you're getting real experience!

Finally won some MMRs and back to the 1450ish range.

Funny how my morale is now much more better! :)

After using Engineer in one of the inhouses last night, I liked what I see. Picked him up again. Love him so much. But apparantly he's Balphegore-tier?

...

Goddammit. I love Balphegore as well.

I don't have the knack for picking heroes!

But seriously, Engineer needs more love.
