Xenoblade coming to the U.S. via Gamestop Exclusive (also avail on Nintendo.com)

Hope this means good things for a The Last Story release here.

Yes, and for other kinds of niche releases as well. If the western Nintendos share the localization costs and then do these smaller scale print runs, bringing over games with limited appeal should be a cheap, profitable way of checking the hardcore box even beneath the shadow of the exchange rate situation. I don't care if these kinds of games don't get mainstream acclaim but not being able to play them at all is not tolerable; this is a great compromise solution for us and for Reggie who can now free himself from the shackles of being able to only mention big budget, massive selling releases when confronted with software drought questions.

It was ridiculous that this wasn't coming over in the first place. There was clear fan interest in it, and the Wii release calendar is almost barren.

Thanks for making this available directly through yourselves, Nintendo! Mario Kart 7 was the last game I had paid off at Gamestop, now after Sunday I'll never have to shop there again!

What about the other 2 RPG's, Pandora's Tower and The Last Story?
Pandora's Tower is not an RPG (er, I guess you can "level up" in it, so..).

But I would say it's looking better for those two. Sure, it's not 100%, but hey, until a few hours ago we all though Xenoblade in the US was a lost cause.

Oh yeah, DEFINITELY buying this from NoA. Perhaps if sales are good enough they'll consider listening to their fanbase in the future.

I know nothing about Xeno but I am so excited. I avoided all discussion about it because I didn't think I would ever get to play it. This is a great day.

Maybe whatever method you've used is faster, but if you use the USB Loader, HBC, etc. that is outlined in the Wii for Dummies walkthrough, it takes at least 2-3 minutes til the game starts from booting up.
There must be something really wrong with your USB loader set-up then. USB loader bootup is slower than disc channel with banner loaded (i.e. you've not ejected the disc) as having to access a channel, an app then load Xenoblade is slower than hitting start but is on par with inserting the disc (as the Wii takes a while to read the disc...I think its checking the sectors then loading the banner into a temp directory).

Plus if it was slower being freeed from the tyrany of the whrr, squeeks, clicks and aeroplane taking off that the disc drive bring with it is bliss.

Rated Teen for Partial Nudity.

Nice.
Plus Violence rather than Fantasy Violence. It pretty much ticks all the ESRB T boxes except Suggestive Themes or Gambling.

This is great news!

I have no idea why I'm excited, though, since I know I will have no time to play this game for at least the next 30 years. My life + JRPGs just don't match anymore :(

Dammit Nintendo.

Oh well, I'm fine with my collector's edition of the NoE version. Now people who didn't import will have a chance!

Assuming that NoA was intending to redub the game, would we expect NA Anime VAs or some of the "beauty" that brought us Radiant Dawn's sorry excuse for VA?

... Nah, just keep the British Dub and remove "ou"'s. It's not like the Last Window script where there was some clear British vernacular that American audiences wouldn't get (for example, "steady on"). The farthest is Reyn saying "Oi!".

this would happen. this would happen just after i order it from europe.

god dammit. at least the price + shipping was exactly the same it would have been + tax here.

-Xenoblade Chronicles by Nintendo of America-

Wow, given the events of the past few months, this just sounds weird.

But I want the British VA.

Well its not the VA that bugs me really. It's that the text uses words and phrases that don't really fit with NA English, so it's a bit odd. If they want to stick with original dual audio VA that they had with the last release, at least fix all the text.

Besides you should be listening to the superior Japenese VA for Wakamoto!

This was a zelda holiday and a 3DS onslaught. Financially, they didnt need it at all.

Next year is when we will start seeing all these japanese DS and Wii games they held out on because all the internal teams have moved on.

Wii yes, DS no.

The only overdue DS game I can see NOA bothering with is Pokémon Typing. And that's a maybe.

I'm very interested to see if they keep the almost flawless dub or not.

I also wonder if this thread is what forced Nintendo to tip their hand and reveal the game was coming out after all?

Yay!

I'm very happy to see this- I was about to take the plunge and import it. Might have picked it up regardless had I imported it or not.

I finally have something else to play on my Wii besides Monster Hunter (since the exercising stuff doesn't count and that's about all it gets used for these days)!

What about the other 2 RPG's, Pandora's Tower and The Last Story?

One would think that Nintendo would have mentioned something about them now that Xenoblade is confirmed. However, I don't think Pandora's Tower has a chance in hell of coming out.
Nintendo should sweeten the deal and throw in Last Story as a double pack with Xenoblade. I would be their way of saying "Sorry we've been so damn stubborn." At least Xenoblade is coming out, which is considered to be the best of the three games anyway.

That's what people want. IT'S ALREADY BEEN LOCALIZED. WHY WOULD THEY DO IT AGAIN?
You'd be surprised at what people actually want. UK spelling, the accents in the dub, some people can be funny about that.

I wouldn't mind it, personally. But then again, I can buy the UK version for that. I should have already.

Why do you care so much about the "fanfare" it gets and whether it will be "supported"? Just enjoy the game.
I kinda want future games like it, not a failure NoA can point to and say "See? Never again."

Which they've already contributed to by effectively telling the people most excited about the game that it wasn't coming over.

This is not the kind of game that any company would be putting a big marketing effort behind in 2011, I wouldn't have so much bitterness over a perfectly understandable business decision. It's not like this game would have been some massive hit with a couple of commercials and started some groundswell of new JRPG development.
Could've been.
Could still be.

I just don't feel like NoA gets a pass for not releasing titles in the US because they'd be hard to market, or don't have a huge existing following. That's their job to cultivate that market, make it grow, and offer the same products released to other regions in a timely manner. NoE handled it well, NoA pretty much discouraged people from thinking it was coming it all.

Nothing wrong with a bit of colour on my armour as I fight for honour.

It isn't THAT quick. It takes at least an hour plus and then it's a few minutes every time you boot up the machine.

No, GameStop takes 16 minutes and 24 seconds to drive to, approximately 9 minutes 23 seconds to check out and 40 seconds to walk back to my car because I park further out to avoid accidental damage to my car. This obviously adds up to more than the 32 minutes 40 seconds it took me to mod and the 3 minutes 55 seconds it took to import online.

Tap-dancing Christ folks, point is it's fuckin' easy.

Lol, I was always 50/50 on this game coming over. I doubt NoA was stupid enough to have absolutely nothing worth releasing in the first half of next year, maybe that's why they held off.

I was like a few weeks away from importing too, heh. Glad I waited.
