The "return" of Final Fantasy X (PS3, VITA) still in early sevelopment stages

Where in the flying fuck is Meg Ryan nowadays.

No one is casting the joker for the female lead in your average romcom

I know this is a bit naive to say, but is there anyone else on the board besides me who really liked both FFX and FFXII? I certainly feel like the only one anyway.

Edit: I really liked X-2 too, but it's a notch below these two.

Loved every FF game I've played thus far. Easily my favorite series.

Probably put him to sleep like many others.

Unfortunatley, I can't.
I hated FFXII because it wasn't FFX, but that was the player's mistake, because everyone MUST not link the entries of the series together, except the direct sequels of XIII and X.

Funny how true that is. I remember one time I fell asleep playing at a buddies (he had two TVs in the same room) and my characters beat this moss dragon boss that he had tried beating multiple times. He was so mad he woke me up saying "fuck that, fuck this game!" He never played it again.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
I know for one that my non-GAF friends don't really favor XII. The system seems a bit way too hardcore for me though.

By the way, why is this thread turning into a FFX vs FFXII thread?

Because the people who love XII are waaaaay more adamant and loud about it.

Bullshit, they must delay it because how horrible Vita's number are.

Just like how they "delayed" FFXIII because PS3 doesn't sell enough in early life cycle.

WORTH NOTING: In A. O. Smith's most recent interview with RPGSite (I think Kagari was the interviewer, actually, but maybe I'm misremembering), he gave a non-denial denial when asked if they'd be redoing any localization and voice acting for FFX HD. I think he said something like "wouldn't that be nice."

I'm not sure I like this. I would be really unhappy to lose anyone's voice (except maybe Kimahri's.)

omg i thought i was the only one on here who loves X-2 lol

And yet an exorbitant amount of Western players loathed XII's aesthetic. Guess it won't work either.

You could add Ezio (with hood down, anyway) to FFXII and he would fit right in.

In Final Fantasy XII I loved the combat engine and found it great fun. But personally I found the characters bland, the story boring, and didn't like the music style. And for me those are the most important parts of an RPG. Plus the dungeons seemed too long - I was tired of the desert when I was only halfway across it, and then you finally get across, and immediately have a full dungeon to go through.

Except of course on page 1 of this thread we already talked about how it was coming for the PS3 and the Vita so Vita's installed base really has very little to do with when SE finishes this project. There's already 50 million + PS3's out there so whatever Vita sales FFX HD picks up will just be icing on the cake.

In short it's a PS3 AND Vita project. The Vita's sales have absolutely nothing to do with SE's difficulty in finishing projects in a timely manner.

Same here. I love the original cast. A few of them were heavy hitters you hear in different all the time, but some not so much. Lulu's voice actress is pretty rare and I haven't heard Matt McKenzie (Auron) in anything else.

EDIT: IzMDB'd Matt. He's definitely around!

I had the same problem at the beginning, to me , most of the character looked like twins or brothers. But when you advance in the story it will get much better quickly, and the desert are is only at the beginning, you won't have to walk through it again.
I say, give it another shot or wait for the HD version (hopefully Fall13).

That reminds me of FFXI, didn't they say they will release an enhanced Vita version !?

Yea I think they said they want to, not sure if it's set in stone, SE wants to do a lot of stuff but everything are really tough for them or something.

Square Enix wants to do a lot of things. Those involved with XI said they were testing if such a thing was even possible, and then the XIV guys were teasing off some Vita compatibility as well.

It's impossible for this interview to have happened after we got Vita numbers. This taking years has absolutely nothing to do with Vita. So please, don't be silly.

Ok, that is just too awesome. I would only hope I can use the same file system or something of some-kind.

I think all the interview with kitase meant is that the game won't be out right away. I'd be very suprised if it were anything other then a tuned up Up-rezzed FFX international. No new character models or textures or anything. They'd merely re-render the cg at 1080P 7.1 sound for ps3 and 540p for vita. Pre-rendered backgrounds may also get their original resolution bitmaps, otherwise I'd say no frills update with 720p in game graphics locked at 30 fps with 4x anti aliasing or something basic. I guess the fonts would all be redone for HD as well. You know, basically the same thing konami did with MGS recently and sony has done for god of war, sly cooper and ico/sotc.

I'd be surprised if it didn't make it out by the end of 2012, unless FFXV ends up coming out this year .

I still don't understand why of all FF titles, Square decided to remake this. It's too recent to warrant a remake, seriously. And that's not even the biggest issue, there are FF titles preceding it that are much more worthy of a remake. SMH.

Japan has shitty taste loves FF X, and upressing a PS2 game shouldn't be too hard even for SE, so it's a guaranteed money-maker, more or less.

lol cry more

seriously though, it's because it's a PS2 game and there's a well-established precedent of there being an existing process for uprezzing PS2 games, and they'd be able to make it (and even add some tweaks/modifications) without having to remodel every single monster and NPC and stuff. FFX-2 and FFXII are very, very likely to get the same treatment.

It will likely be similar to Sony's "HD" Collections or something like Strangers Wrath. The developers of SW cleaned up the textures and added detail to the character models. So, it wouldn't be a full remake.

...It's a 2001 game. There's only three titles older than it that haven't been remade in some minimal fashion and even those have been ported recently.

If you're going by straight ports alone it is in fact the oldest mainline franchise game not to be ported.

FFX was the first game I put into my PS2 when I got the console, so I have some fond memories of it. Despite a lot of the negativity it got, I really loved it. Clocked it with great satisfaction. /rose tinted glasses

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this!

People are weird on message boards about X. It's probably the last universally accepted FF game and was a definite triumph back when it was released. Sure there were crazy voices crying out from the woods even back then but they were few and far between.

People just want remakes of the PSone games. The problem is that those would require a full remake, and Square just isn't willing to do that right now.
